Everyone seems so young on here these days.

Maybe it's time I shuffled off to Gransnet.

mrsjay, I have one yet to start school and having been a geriatric mother I sincerely hope having all these children at my age will bloody well keep me young Grin.

My knees do creak though when I get up off the floor for the 537th a day... Hmm

I think having had my DS2 and DS3 over 40 was my midlife crisis - other people by a red sportscar Grin

I'm a geraitric mother too. Dd is 7. I remember the miners strike and was a New Romantic ( or Rhuematic may be nearer the mark these days)

I'm not going anywhere if I can't swear. Or read other people's swearing Grin
There's a couple of quichy type threads of older people on here, but I don't want to talk or read, constantly, about grey pubes, saggy bits and OMG where did that fucking great whisker come from. And when?Shock

Passing reference is OK but I'd rather ignore it mostly.

Having dealt with it obvs. I'm not going lulu Grin

Yet another geriatric who doesn't feel that old but would probably would join middle-aged-net as long as you could swear. Definitely too young for Gransnet.

I never liked Donny Osmond or David Cassidy by the way, I preferred Marc Bolan or David Bowie.

I'm a geriatric mum too. With a 14mo. I'm nearer 50 than 40 - although I'm not sure I exactly feel it - and I'll be a long time waiting to be a gran! Just as well if they don't let you fecking swear on Gransnet though. I mean really - who wants to be in with a bunch of po-faced ol' people with catsbum faces every time you say a swearword?

Oh, 'Madiba of Mumsnet' is definitely my next namechange!

Oooh - a thread for me too. Am also old (DD is mid 20s) and have just retired having hit the big 60.
Am spending far too much time on Mumsnet

Perhaps we should ask for a sweary middle age forum. I'd really like that....

Report
Orangeanddemons · 11/12/2013 13:31

Or even an older mums topic. That would be really useful too.

Have just had a quick look at Gransnet - it's just very sedate... and I'm not ready to be sedated - yet.

Im 57 and still learning things on here! Like pull the vest down over a pooey nappy. If we want to find out about anything my OH says have a look on your mums thingy someone might know.... And hes right you always have an answer.
Gransnet is ok but slower to come up with replies.

Nah, I don't want a middle aged mum topic. The younger ones on here are lovely, with a special mention for SP who is both daft and wise at the same time.
If I had a daughter it would be her.

nah I wouldnt want to have an older mums place either i like here and some of you older mums have younger kids i would still be giving rubbish old fashioned advice Grin I think sp's mum is younger than me though Envy

I can't be on an older mums site when I still favour sky high heels, and short skirts ( never together).

SatinSandals · 12/12/2013 10:24

Just because we are older doesn't mean we want to be siphoned off into a special place!

Report
PacifistDingDong · 12/12/2013 10:25

I've decided I am too young for this place Grin

The joy of the Internet is that you can be as you feel on the inside and not how people perceive you from the outside.

My eldest is 34, I'm about to retire and my favourite clothes are skinny jeans & boots.

Even when insomnia strikes there is always something going on here. I love the range of topics and the very lively debate.

The parenting threads are great as I now have young grandchildren & it's interesting to hear what's changed in 30 years. AIBU can be a hoot but I'm useless at spotting the fakes, couldn't spot a troll in a troll shop.

I also love Gransnet which seems much more intimate :)

What a bunch of cheeky mares on this thread. Try GN and you will find a level of serious debate and more fun (as a consequence of rather more experience than you have) and you might even learn something. As for blankets and rugs we're all far too busy doing things to waste our time in slobbing around.

Being a Gran doesn't preclude you from being a mum in fact a pre-requisite usually of being a gran is being a mum - or has that escaped you?

Are gen x the most boring generation? Please discuss.
