Just heard today that Asda and morrisons will hike there prices up as the store in the uk subsidise the ones in Scotland.

Also the persident of the European union has said last week on hard talk Scotland will not be able to jump the que on the back of the uk coat tails and will have to join and fresh and wait in the back of the que

And royal mail have also said they may stop mail to the far flung parts of Scotland if they go ita lone as they loose money in the shetlands ect and they would only be required to provide mail in the uk.

And it seems to me all the bits in the white paper are all assertions and weather they keep the pound ect is not actually up to them.

I think this is gonna be like ringing your boss when drunk it sounds like a good idea at the time

But They will regert it in the morining

I haven't seen any anti-English sentiment on this thread but i have seen anti- Scottish.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 09/12/2013 21:08

Yes I have been able to add a few names to the shitlist thanks to this thread.

OP I'm having a bit of trouble understanding your posts tbh.

flatpackhamster · 09/12/2013 21:09

Shenanagins

I would say to those south of the border who want rid of us as we are leaches, have you ever questioned why the tories are supporting the "better together" campaign given we don't vote for them in any great proportion?

No, because I know that the Tories are members of the Conservative And Unionist Party.

StoorieHoose · 09/12/2013 21:09

Ha! All I see on threads like this is massive anti Scottish sentiment!

And the English get wound up about anyone but England over football! Just reading these threads show some English to be raving bigots

scottishmummy · 09/12/2013 21:09

Utter rot,we'll still need fresh&lo and crispy rolls and asda will still sell.go figure

Sadoldbag · 09/12/2013 21:10

Sorry about the spelling I am on my I phone

Personally I will be gutted if scots leave the union

ticktock

Couldn't agree more. I'm getting peed off at the blatant racism & assumptions we're headed for a yes vote. The majority of Scots think Salmond is nuts.

Perihelion · 09/12/2013 21:11

If Scotland is such a subsidised drain, why is Westminster so keen to keep us?
The Uk was saved from a triple dip recession by North Sea oil/gas reciepts.
Am still undecided but leaning towards Yes.

StoorieHoose · 09/12/2013 21:12

And I don't think it would be a bad thing about fucking asda raising their prices - might stop them and the other supermarkets buying up land and leaving it derelict for years AND encourage people to use local shops more

scottishmummy · 09/12/2013 21:14

So let me get this straight you're comparing devolution to a drunk phone call to boss
I don't do drunk calls to the boss because
I don't drink
I am the boss

Shenanagins · 09/12/2013 21:14

The tories want us to stay because in their opinion we are all better together, so that means there is something in it for England. If we did go it alone then it spells trouble for the rouk as well.

NoComet · 09/12/2013 21:16

Please don't do it, the Welsh nats. are ruining Wales and especially it's children's education.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 09/12/2013 21:18

"The majority of Scots think Salmond is nuts."

Eh? The man voted in twice as FM? Please don't just make stuff up.

AmIthatTinselly · 09/12/2013 21:20

Maybe not drunk phone calls to the boss, but how about waking up in the morning and realising you've started an incomprehensible thread on Mn Hmm

Love how these threads bring all the bigoted fuckers out of the woodwork

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 09/12/2013 21:22

The ignorance is scary.

Iamsparklyknickers · 09/12/2013 21:22

Hands held up as English, but the whole thing fascinates me. I wish I understood more, but am realising that a lot of it is up in the air so I'm not much more dense than the next person Grin

I do think that the whole thing is coming of as a campaign for the SNP rather than a national constitution and basic plan for the foundation of a country, there are a hell of a lot of 'we think' and 'we're confident' phrases knocking around, especially surrounding the EU membership and currency. Also it's been pointed out that a lot of things highlighted could be achieved with the Scottish parliament as it is.

I saw one commentator who suggested that if the Scots can't use sterling then they won't take a share of the national debt (which is why they're so confident they will be able to), but then can true independence really be achieved if your economy is reliant on the bank of England?

Also this thread has made me wonder how I would feel travelling as a Scot with no embassy to fall back on in a large part of the world?

Have to say, each new development seems to throw up a lot of unanswerable questions that need co-operation from either the EU or other countries to work, but aren't guaranteed.

It could be fantastic or it could be a disaster. I'm glad it's not a vote I have to take to be completely truthful.

Bowlersarm · 09/12/2013 21:23

I'd like Scotland to stay.

I hate these threads. I always find it insulting to the other British member countries (!) when Scots vehemently voice their wish to detach themselves from us.

Then hate the backlash when people say 'feck off' then. I feel very gloomy, and uneasy about it all Xmas Sad

Sadoldbag · 09/12/2013 21:23

Shenanigans

Because if it all goes tits up it will have an adverse effect on England, Wales and NI also when salmon can no longer afford the free child care it's it very likely Westminster will have to dig deep just like when Ireland went belly up it's effected up and we end up helping clean up

OP posts:
WilsonFrickett · 09/12/2013 21:25

Sparkly I was very disappointed with the White paper, I was expecting a constitutional document rather than a manifesto. And I am being genuine on that. I suppose in the SNP's defence, they can't have the answers before asking the questions... but it does mean we are making a decision based on assumptions and dare I say emotion, which scares me.

StoorieHoose · 09/12/2013 21:25

You do know that Scotland will be voting for independence and NOT for Salmond to be the new Emperor Ming for all eternity?

scottishmummy · 09/12/2013 21:26

On the contrary mr salmond has been voted in first minister twice now

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 09/12/2013 21:26

It's Alex SALMOND OP ffs!

WilsonFrickett · 09/12/2013 21:27

Ireland is an independent nation, the UK govt did not 'clean it up'. They may have contributed their share of EU money which was spent in Ireland, but the UK gov has no special relationship to Southern Ireland. Please don't just make things up.

And the name is Salmond.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 09/12/2013 21:28

OP that is absolute rubbish. Do you understand what 'independent' means?

And you've been told this before but you don't seem to be paying attention: it's Salmond, not salmon. That's really not helping your 'argument'.

Ericaequites · 09/12/2013 21:28

Talk with others about why you are voting no to Scottish independence. Explain the disadvantages of going it alone. I assumed most people would know better after four years of That Man in the White House. I was wrong.
