to think it is totally reasonable for cat owners not to pick up poo

I mean how can they?

I have 2 cats and now 1 puppy. I watch my puppy when she is out and know where she is, I can see if she is pooing. If she disappears under a bush I check (with my sense of smell) and pick up if necessary. I carry poo bags everywhere.

However, my cats come and go as they please. When they were kittens I had a litter tray that they used, but as they started to go outside with a cat flap, they stopped using the litter tray.

My (ex) neighbour asked me to come and pick up after my cats, but as there are lots and lots of cats in the area, there was no knowing that it was my cats.

I am not a bad pet owner. But I think it is unreasonable to expect cat owners to have the same poo pick up responsibility as dog owners.

Anyway, paintballing is more likely to blind a child than cat shit - just look at Byker Grove (documentary on CBBC)

Heartbrokenmum73 · 04/12/2013 20:19

Goaty - your name is really appropriate. Oh, the irony!

We have one cat and it craps in our own yard under the house.

Where we used to live, we had a crazy neighbor who left threatening notes in our letterbox telling us to clean up our yard as she saw our cat pooping in our yard and didn't like that and to stop hanging our wash out in our yard because the smell of the soap powder bothered her.

We ignored the bat until she cam by knocking and I told her to feck off.

Holds up hand

I have in fact had a conversation in which a neighbour did complain about cat shit in her flower beds. She has a cat so I'm not sure what she was complaining about, but it does happen in real life. Only once mind.

Moving on....I am finding this thread hilarious. I may even post my first lol.

lol

thebody · 04/12/2013 21:02

tired welcome. if you think this is bad look for breast v bottle, parking spaces for parents and attachment parenting also controlled crying and mils.

I park in parent and child spaces with my cats - they are my babies - and I leave their shit behind to jump up and blind random passing children

Cat poo doesn't cause blindness - just blind rage apparently

Canidae · 04/12/2013 21:18

Me too Heart. And albuquerque from Bugs Bunny cartoons.

YeahButWhatIf · 04/12/2013 21:32

I don't laugh at blind children, but I did laugh when I saw a lady drive her motor buggy thing into a wall. I think she has looked at cat poo seconds before.

pottytowork · 04/12/2013 22:28

what is wrong with getting the cat with a hose or super soaker when you see it in your garden? i am sure it would learn to stay well away!

i have a cat, and would have no problem with someone giving him a quick soaking to deter him. water wont kill him, but make him think twice!

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 22:34

I wonder if that will become a standard MN disclaimer: "I don't laugh at blind children, but..."

thebody · 04/12/2013 22:48

teaching children to be cruel to animals is child abuse

again I was not picking out a particular poster but the tone of the thread was becoming nasty.

base ball bat was mentioned but not by goady
