To take them with me?

So my husband is away at the moment, he 'doesn't know' if he will be back tonight.
I've had to mess work around already this week and I dont think they could cope with me missing my shift tonight :(

My calls are in an incredibly rural location and its really safe round here.
WIBU to take the children? Make a little 'nest' in the back of the car and give them their bottles and put them down to bed in the large boot of our people carrier?

I could dress them up warm and I would only be out for around 2hours with them, checking back regularly and driving inbetween calls every half an hour or so?

I dont know what else to do!

well said LaQueen

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:14

Well, thats not really the decision of anybody else here but me. So this is all rather pointless. Perhaps one day I will start a thread which wont end in the same few people arselicking telling me not to pursue my career.

its not going to make a difference so there is very little point in continuing with it.

My decisions in life will absolutely not be affected by what a few people think they know about me on an internet forum.

OP posts:
hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/11/2013 22:22

Then why post?

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:26

As I explained, I needed a reality check and I got one.

I have not gone out with the children and I wouldn't. I've never ever even considered doing something like this before but I was stressed and not thinking straight.

I got my reality check which is fine. I dont need to be told that I cannot be a social worker by people who don't know me and look for any opportunity to turn any thread around into being about me and why I am unsuitable to do the job. Its old and boring and isn't going to make the blindest bit of difference anyway.

I'll post what I want, I am glad I posted this thread, I needed it this morning.

I think the real question is 'why post' continually berating someone for haing a career choice you disagree with when it is not going to make the blindest bit of difference to them and how they live their life.

That is the real question.

Good job mn is here then, I dread to think what you would of done if you hadn't been able to post here.

Unfortunately your not the only one who can post what they want, others can too, you can't make people stop posting because you don't like what there saying.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/11/2013 22:32

I thought you were no longer on the course but maybe I was mistaken....

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:32

And there what is?

This is not a thread about my career or a reason to dissect me for your own amusement.

This was a thread about a stupid thought that I had and got some guidance on.

End of chat.

No you can't leave your kids in the car. Would be fine with older kids to take them with and into each house. You have no childcare so can't work.

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:33

I really dont think there is any chance I would have taken them out with me. It really didn't sit comfortably with me as a thought at all and I just needed to clarify things in my head.

I have never even done a mini call with them in the car in the dark, would just be the most awful feeling in the world.

I am glad MN is here though, it gave me a sounding board and I really needed it today.

Foreveronadiet it's not fine with older kids either, your not allowed to take anyone into a service users house.

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:42

I am no further away from being a qualified social worker than I was a month ago, i am just taking a slightly different route and might have a break in between to have another baby.

Its irrelevant anyway.

Older kids, depending on the age I would have probably had a bit more freedom with them, they would have friends houses they could stay at at short notice or I could have got the next door neighbour to look after them. The problem was that they go to bed around 7ish so it would have been hard for them to go anywhere to be looked after.

Usually there is someone who can help out but nobody could tonight.

its okay though, I took the night off, crisis averted.

DH is not going away again for some time which is great.

Geckos48 · 20/11/2013 22:43

I absolutely agree you can't take older kids into a service users home. Or anybody for that matter.

There are all sorts of medications lying about, you often have to use a B-BOX to get in and you need to be aware of how vulnerable people are.

ShylaMcCall · 20/11/2013 22:48

Back up just a minute OP...

You are considering having another baby?

With this man?

bababababoom · 20/11/2013 22:51

...and confidentiality issues, foreveronadiet?

TeaAndSconesTwice · 20/11/2013 22:52

Gecko yes for those reasons but anyone who works in care needs to be CRB checked, so if people started taking kids/friends/family in it would be putting a service user at risk.

I'm glad you didn't take your kids in the boot of your car and leave them & I hope you will in future protect your children from risks you don't need to be putting them through.

Sorry, to clarify, you are considering having another baby despite this post:

"To be honest I dont know if he will be my husband for much longer (not just because of this but because of other things)"

Or do you have someone else in mind? I am really struggling to undertand Confused

ExcuseTypos · 20/11/2013 22:58

What 'slightly different route' is there Gecko?

I thought the only route was going to uni full time to get a degree.

TeaAndSconesTwice · 20/11/2013 22:59

Op you contradict yourself on a lot of stuff you say......
Either it's all made up utter bullshit and you can't remember what you have already said or.....well I don't know, do you need attention op? I'm starting to feel sorry for you...
