To love Frys Chocolate?

SPsDoesntLikeChaffingFishnets · 11/11/2013 19:07

I don't really like dark chocolate but I love Frys.

I have a bar of mint cream and one orange cream.

I think the Orange is my favourite. It also reminds of my Great Grandfather who uses to sneak us it in church.

He used to tell us it was magic and kept him alive.

Anyone else?

I can't take much more, I feel as if I'm dripfeeding, or dribbling, not sure which.
I seriously love recalling sweets of [not so] old. I just need to write them all down,
Splicers.
Cadbury' Counters
Chelsea Whoppers
Beta Bars
Candy Letters
Wine Gums, in the have of the bottles
Fruit Gums, ditto
Alpine lemonade
Sun Lollies
Tootie Fruities
Beech Nut chewing gum
Tiger tots, bunny tots
Pink Panther Bar
Imps
Dairy Milk Bar.

I have to stop now, I'm going mad!

My Dad used to love Fry's Turkish Delight, now he's moved on to Kinde Bueno bars - he's dead common Grin

SPsDoesntLikeChaffingFishnets · 11/11/2013 21:22

HappyAsEyeAm · 11/11/2013 21:24

MrsBrownsGirl · 11/11/2013 21:24

Tiger tots...omg I used to loooove them! Tiny little liquorice allsorts weren't they. Candy tots as well.

VerySmallSqueak · 11/11/2013 21:25

Oh yes Athel.

Rock hard teeth breaking exterior so best eaten warm when they've softened a bit.
Which is probably why Mum tucked them down the side of the seat next to her.

VerySmallSqueak · 11/11/2013 21:25

Pink panther bars were pink weren't they?

I've just discovered this thread and am pondering the remembered joys of Fry's Chocolate Cream - just the original white one. It's not just the taste I remember, but the way we all ate it- slowly peeling off all the melting choccie and finally guzzling the soft white centre! (This was an attempt to make it last!)

SilverApples · 11/11/2013 21:30

I was little in the 60s and living off and on in the north. I was addicted to kali (Pronounced kay-lie) which was a sugar crystal form of sherbert. It was sweet and sour and you could get a tuppenny paper bag from the sweetshop on a Friday.

Donkeyok · 11/11/2013 21:33

Mt dear old mum comes from Bristol near the Fry's factory. As her surname was Fry she always joked about being the poor relations. She loves the mint one. We buy her the old retro advertising fridge magnets, postcards that sort of thing. She lives in Dorset now and always has a supply.

Primadonnagirl · 11/11/2013 21:34

tastes Pmsl at being on about 40 Tom and Jerrys a day!!! I remember almost everything here and adore most of them too..which is bizarre because I'm only 22 and weigh eight stone

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker · 11/11/2013 21:34

Chocolate footballs in a net... what I mostly remember about those is tiny shreds of silver paper fecking everywhere for the rest of the week. And more of them melted in pockets that were ever eaten. Crumpled, powdery chocolate footballs missing half their silver wrapping, buggering up your pocket linings.

I still think that's a euphemism, not a sweet,Squeak.

I think I've reminisced here about this before but remember the Milk tray bar of chocolate..that had the lime barrel in it? Gorgeous.Anyone remember Weekend chocolates? Peanut Yorkies? Monster cookies that came in different colours?

JaquelineHyde · 11/11/2013 21:37

Ooooh spooky. I'm actually eating a mint one right now. Yummy!

Bettercallsaul1 · 11/11/2013 21:38

No, Caramacs have changed, sadly - not nearly as good as before.

Bettercallsaul1 · 11/11/2013 21:39

I remember Weekend and Good News chocolates.

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker · 11/11/2013 21:41

Ah, now, chocolate coins, that's different. I could roll in chocolate coins for a thousand years like a gold-crazed dwarf trapped in a coin mine.

SPsDoesntLikeChaffingFishnets · 11/11/2013 21:45

We have loads of different chocolates in nets in the fridge, footballs, coins, Halloween and Christmas.

He is obsessed with netted chocolate

oooh, DH and I had some Spanish Gold last week, along with some chocolate macaroons, raspberry ruffles and Edinburgh soft rock.

There's a fab retro sweet shop in the Lowry Shopping mall in Salford, they had everything, coconut ice, lots of different kali (sherberts) and various liqourices, massive gobstoppers, etc, etc, etc

Have a look here also:
