So many non-English voices, especially East Europeans, but so many different nationalities en masse it seems have moved here in the last 10-20 years - completely unprecedented historically. And in an already very over-crowded island.

Today I read Labour MP Frank Field say that the population increase due to immigration by 2031, i.e. less than 20 years, will be approximately 10 million and will require building something like seven new Birminghams! Or another London! Based on latest predictions in the papers today anyway.

Did Blair and Mandelson envisage this when they signed up for European Community rules on immigration and refugees? Or did they cynically not care because it meant cheap labour, cheap votes, increased profits (via membership of the European Community).

Did the architects of this policy not consider how it would affect housing, jobs and education and the resulting massive investment needed there, and the over-crowded population we have already.

I believe we have never been consulted or told anything honestly about what the consequences of EC membership was immigration-wise, if indeed there was ever any plan (doesn't seem to be, just a kind of opportunistic carpetbaggers philosophy approach of selling England by the pound).

I feel deceived and hoodwinked really. But are there any more positive thoughts on this? I find it v. depressing.

VeryStressedMum · 07/11/2013 00:06

OP get a grip of yourself. Do you honestly believe everything you are told by MPs And the newspaper you read today, what was it, what did it say and where are they getting their facts from?
Try not to believe (and repeat as gospel truth) what the lady you're standing next to in the queue at Tesco says.

Mylovelyboy · 07/11/2013 00:10

Heartbroken - no i dont have any facts. And neither does this stupid government or the last one. Just watch the news. Go to London (you might live there, I dont know). Around the back of Harrods is a lovely private garden (there are many of these gardens). There are groups of immigrants that hang around there all day and night, pissing and shitting in the park and dumping their rubbish. They are from eastern europe. There is nowhere for them to live, so they live in the parks. What is all that about. Google it. It has been on the ITV news showing them and interviewing the residents. Now tell me we have room for more people. So fuking tired my eyes are stinging Confused

Heartbrokenmum73 · 07/11/2013 00:10

I'm out of here too.

As the late, great, Stanley Unwin used to say: Goodly-night-lode.

Misspixietrix · 07/11/2013 00:10

feelinggood The difference is Parliament doesn't stand there saying things like "So many non-English voices" and "Coming over 'ere nicking our Jobs AND Benefits! Etc.

Misspixietrix · 07/11/2013 00:11

"There is no where for them to live". So what happened to all the Council Houses and Benefits they get given like sweets then? Hmm

Erm, yeah, that's not a reputable news link, though is it?

feelingood · 07/11/2013 00:16

True Misspixietrix - and your point is....cos i didnt say that either and i didnt say that parliament did.

If you going to talk about immigration you need to talk about numbers, criteria for addmitting people, reosurces required - and shock horror somene may say some people talk a different language and may need an interpreter.

VeryStressedMum · 07/11/2013 00:17

Mylovelyboy, aren't those people Roma gypsies? They are not really the same as the other immigrants that come to the UK to work and pay taxes and buy things thereby contributing to the economy. Not every immigrant lives in the park you know.

QuintesKabooom · 07/11/2013 00:18

That's propaganda. Not research.

Too scared to read my link to the study done by UCL? You know, University College London. A thoroughly British old institution. Wink

Mylovelyboy · 07/11/2013 00:18

I cant get a council place so why should the ones who were not born here have one. And yes the ones that are living on the streets. Why are they here. Im not unhinged. You sound very bitter. Are you English by the way. Bet you dont answer that one. Where are you from may I ask. ie Country of origin.

Misspixietrix · 07/11/2013 00:19

already Been through this. The Housing Crisis has fuck all to do with Immigration.

feelingood · 07/11/2013 00:20

heartbroken argue your point properly without name calling, people may listen more. The name calling and insults completely undermine any other valid points you may have.

The fact that there are homeless people indicates we do not have enough housing. Or families that live in overcrowed housing - this may indicate we do not have enough of housing stock of the correct size. Are you disputing this?

Mylovelyboy · 07/11/2013 00:21

Yes verystressed you are correct about the Roma people. I am talking about the number of people here. Yes i am talking people from abroad. Numbers of people

feelingood · 07/11/2013 00:21

crossed post miss do you not think that additional people will put pressure on the already existing housing crisis? and.. do you not think an immigrant should be entitle to adequete housing the same as anyone else - where shoud they live?

Mylovelyboy · 07/11/2013 00:22

Do you live in la la land Misspixie. Go to inner city London. The housing crisis has all to do with immigration.
