...sign this ?

I am going to keep posting about it on MN until you have ALL signed it.

Probation will run by SERCO or G4S if you don't get on board. Do you want that? Really? They can't even provide security for the Olympics! And they overcharged YOU tens of millions of pounds, by pretending dead prisoners were still on tag and collecting a fee for them. Or. Sometimes, they simply made the prisoners' names up and then collected a fee for them. That's just for starters.

If these clowns don't run it, some other unaccountable , faceless corporation will be in charge of the monitoring and rehabilitation of offenders. They will hold the safety of YOUR communities in their hands.

So. Sign it. It might even be too late. But we have to try. We simply cannot sit by and let a service which has evolved for over 100 years and is successful in reducing offending across the country be privatised and risk being run by profiteers.

AIBU to expect you to give a shit? Really, you HAVE to give a shit.

Hi PavlotheCat,

I would love to sign it but fortunately for me, I do actually have a life. However, if this sort of thing floats your boat then I wish you all the luck. Its good that you have a hobby such as this.

mitchsta · 07/11/2013 18:42

Signed. I have seen what can happen when the probation service majorly fucks up, but I cannot even begin to imagine the volume of fuck ups that we could be looking at if this goes ahead.

DullDebbie - if you have such an amazing life, why take the time to post a crappy little post on a forum like this for no apparent reason?

ilovesooty · 07/11/2013 18:46

DullDebbiewhat on earth was the motivation behind that snide little post? If you have a life it must be a very sad one if that's how who get your kicks.

ilovesooty · 07/11/2013 18:47

'how you get your kicks'

PavlovtheCat · 07/11/2013 19:00

dulldebbbie it's more than a hobby. It floats my boat as it's my clients who will suffer, it is the victims and future victims that will suffer (as well as me and my family as I will have my pay slashed by a considerable amount and I will lose my pension).

I hope to god you don't find yourself in a position where you have to give a flying fuck, or, maybe I do hope you find yourself in that position, so you can get off your morally bankrupt ass and give a fuck about your world.

mitch I agree that probation make errors, we are, after all humans, and an organisation that certainly needs a review of it's senior managers, but there is clear accountability when it goes wrong.

For example I know that I do my job well, properly, following procedure and so if something goes wrong I can evidence what I did, when and where and how I was/was not involved in what went wrong. I will hold my hand up to errors, I have routes to take when I am not happy about something that might put a life in danger and I am trained.

I will absolutely not take responsibility for errors that lead to terrible mistakes and lives at risk for organisations that cut corners and place their staff in the position of being deceitful, dishonest, and ass covering at all times. I will not be a fall-guy for the coverups that will take place as things go wrong when this is privatised. I suspect that means my future is in the balance, but I knew that anyway.

I am very concerned about the risks that are being taken with this, and th speed at which it's being rushed through to stop it being reversed when the government lose the 2015 election - it means that proper measures to protect the public will not be in place, and as I have said earlier, people WILL die or be seriously hurt which would have been preventable.

it makes me so angry.

And Pavlov - well done for promoting this so effectively. Really interesting links.

nevergoogle · 07/11/2013 20:05

Going to go and do it now.
I saw the G4S attempt during the olympics, when I was a gamesmaker, it was a joke. Thank goodness the military stepped in.

OneStep it's like some kind of media blackout. There is more on the BBC about the train cleaners going on strike than there is about this. Not that those people don't deserve some headlines too for being shafted, but the level of media hostility continues to amaze me.

Just like the virtual non-existant media coverage of the GuyFawkes night Million Mask March, which only got some attention after whatsisface uncovered his face for some publicity. This March took place around the WORLD, and was barely even mentioned.

There are some things that are not being cascaded to the normal folk. And it seems to be things that involve people actually actively showing they DO GIVE A FUCK. Best not advertise that eh?! Let's pretend no-one cares, and others will stop caring too.

Sorry. A huge rant there Blush

Thanks for more signatures.

hassled there are SOO many more links around, I could go on forever, which is why I stress that people can, and should go and read up on it, not just for the petition, but to know what's going on. There is so much evidence that the work probation does now IS effective and there is so much evidence that privatising of key public services DOES NOT work. Very little evidence that these big corporations can run a piss-up in a brewery. nevergoogle the Olympics is evidence that G4S can't manage risk. They couldn't keep the public safe despite having YEARS to prepare!

I'm behind with this thread but sptombraider i hope by this point you've actually bothered to read some of pavlov's links instead of using your wilful ignorance as an excuse to be rude and remain ignorant. 'i don't follow politics'

Thank you for bumping.

Schools will be next for privatisation.
The Free Schools are the thin end of the wedge - they don't even have to employ qualified teachers or be in suitable buildings.

Funny, when you think it can't get any worse, it does.

paxtecum · 09/11/2013 09:03

People like DullDebbie must be viewed as perfect citizens by the government.

Just sit back Debbie, get on with your cosy life and get shafted.
This does affect everyone, not just 'underclass criminals'.

ilovesooty · 09/11/2013 09:15

I thought I was pretty annoyed with the people who said they didn't care because they don't follow politics but DullDebbiewas even more rude.

Some people are so passive and ignorant it's sickening.

ilovesooty · 09/11/2013 09:23

Sorry not the people but the person who didn't follow anything like that, didn't understand it and had no idea who this Chris is. How can you be a parent or even a responsible adult and just not care about the world around you and keeping society safe?
