been meaning to post about this since saturday Blush

front page of the Sun (yes i know. and no i do NOT buy it) screaming "DUCHESS HAS GOT A FLAT TUM!!" or something like that. with massive pic of her with her top riding up showing her slim tummy. then there was a CLOSE UP of just her tummy area as well.

why is this news?? and who is it news to? i mean, good for her, she looks lovely of course. but really, who cares?

what is actually WITH the media obsession of how women look in pregnancy and afterwards?? and why are women held up as some sort of goddesses amongst women if they have enough personal trainers and time to diet, exercise etc are lucky enough to look great shortly after giving birth??

god no wonder so many women feel so shit about themselves Hmm

ps: am pg myself which is why it wound me up more i think

Pissholes in the snow they are.

wordfactory · 21/10/2013 11:50

marmelade you were behind that bloody root perm?

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:52

Ahhhh the surgery mask photo. Ay told her to apply EXTRA eyeliner for that. She only had her eyes to use that day, to win over the crowds/Hasnat, so emphasis was the order of the day.

Underneath the mask was a story of woe, however. Five o'clock shadow and chapped lips...

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 11:52

The decade in which she died at the age of 36, leaving her sons, would you dance on her grave?

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:54

The hair was nothing to do with me, wordfactory. Ay remember her being unable to get a hair appointment with her usual couiffurier one day and she booked in with Noel Edmond's lady instead.

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:55

One more line and that could have been a haiku, Marshmallo.

SoupDragon · 21/10/2013 11:58

Surely it doesn't have the right syllables for a haiku? Confused

floatyflo · 21/10/2013 12:00

Yawn!

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 12:07

I didn't say it would have been a good haiku.

happybubblebrain · 21/10/2013 12:10

It's about as newsorthy as Christmas is going to be on 25th December this year. Obviously she was going to be slim and perfect within weeks of giving birth, how could she not be? There is only one possible shape for the wife of the future king and that is very slim. Predictable crap from the press.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:12

So you have seen the film then despite the terrible reviews?

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:14

Ohh of course ...

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 12:14

Ay shan't be watching that turgid excuse for a film. It looks like Mills and Boon come true. And why is Sally Webster from Corrie playing Diana? She would be disgusted.

RunFatGirlRun · 21/10/2013 12:18

Anyone on this thread who's made the Envy face or called the DC a cow or whatever is part of the problem.

Really? We've so internalised our sense of self-worth as being based on our surface area that it's pretty much the defining arbiter of status and the main source of envy?

Meh. She had a baby. She looks fit and healthy. That's nice. I hope it's no the most interesting or admirable thing about her.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:19

Oh I am fraightfully sorry I didn't mean to insult the walking pudendum, go for it fan club!

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:25

It must be fraightftully dark up there and quite crowded.

limitedperiodonly · 21/10/2013 12:28

Diana had just got her hair right when she died Sad.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:36

Well what does that mean limited?

mignonnette · 21/10/2013 12:38

limited Well that's a worthy epitaph....Wink

RunFatGirlRun · 21/10/2013 12:41

Limited Grin

Re. Diana's hair: it looks so awful, in retrospect. Can someone who was young and cool at the time tell me whether it was actually considered a stylish look? 'Cos I refuse to believe it.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 12:42

Well, it's slightly more original and slightly less offensive than yours mignonette, I hope that yours is equally as just.

limitedperiodonly · 21/10/2013 12:46

It's an observation culled from viewing thousands of pictures, many of which were photo-ops, even when Diana claimed they weren't.

mig some people involved with London Lighthouse I knew, adored her. She did genuinely good work dispelling the fear of HIV/AIDS.

But others, particularly the casualties of her quite callous charity cull, took the same view as your clients.

Certainly if I'd been a candidate for open heart surgery, I'd have carried a variation on one of those cards people used to have asking not to to be visited by a Government minister in the event of being caught in an IRA outrage.

Nancy66 · 21/10/2013 12:47

Her hair looked nice in those Mario Testino pics.

mignonnetteZOMBIEKILLEROFHQ · 21/10/2013 12:48

My epitaph will make the angels weep and rend their hair at the loss to the World when I go Marsh.

mignonnetteZOMBIEKILLEROFHQ · 21/10/2013 12:51

Limited Many of my clients had those cards Grin with Diana/Govt officials all named with tickboxes yes/no next to them. They were funny.

I worked at the Lighthouse for a time. Yes she did some good work but the right hand took away from the left hand unfortunately.
