been meaning to post about this since saturday Blush

front page of the Sun (yes i know. and no i do NOT buy it) screaming "DUCHESS HAS GOT A FLAT TUM!!" or something like that. with massive pic of her with her top riding up showing her slim tummy. then there was a CLOSE UP of just her tummy area as well.

why is this news?? and who is it news to? i mean, good for her, she looks lovely of course. but really, who cares?

what is actually WITH the media obsession of how women look in pregnancy and afterwards?? and why are women held up as some sort of goddesses amongst women if they have enough personal trainers and time to diet, exercise etc are lucky enough to look great shortly after giving birth??

god no wonder so many women feel so shit about themselves Hmm

ps: am pg myself which is why it wound me up more i think

I wish women would not compare themselves to other women.
If you feel shit about yourself its not the fault of other women who you think look better than you do!
I piled on weight when I was pregnant both times - and after I had my babies I still looked pregnant for a long long time! My friend went back to her normal, slim self within 2 months after hers, without doing anything!

We are all different. Try to get back to your old body if you can - but if you can't for any reason, just accept it.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 10:56

So would you wear a sack, wordfactory and if so, for how long? And also why? And it's not likely to be you, is it unless you are Prince Harry's future wife or planning on marrying Prince George?

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 10:58

It's well known that Diana used to tip off the press.

She was a shrewd manipulative woman, if you could look past the big doe eyes and simpering.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 11:05

You knew her too, Marm?

curiousuze · 21/10/2013 11:06

LOL have just watched the video and there is also no way I could have played volleyball at 2 months post partum without leaving a trail of wee all round the court. Grin She's amazing!

wordfactory · 21/10/2013 11:08

marshmellow don't be absurd!!!!!!

There is a lot of middle ground between sack and skinny low waist jeans!

Kate needs to be very careful. If she only ever presents herself as perfect without any corresponding effort, she will find it very difficult to keep up.

And the press and public will turn on her at some point. Sad but true.

mignonnette · 21/10/2013 11:11

A very nasty comment on here. Someone got out of bed the wrong side.

If you don't put weight on when you are pregnant, you won't be overweight afterwards.

What makes me laugh is the hysterical praise in the press when the DoC manages to put one foot in front of another/bat a ball over a net/walk in heels/wear jeans.

Diana used to sit in on counselling sessions at the subs misuse centre I worked at. She was a doe eyed, simpering manipulative little madam and many of our clients were intensely irritated by her. They had more insight into her behaviour than most. We managed to put an end to it eventually (sadly the patrons of the charity were too keen on the 'kudos' she brought them) but she monopolised the sessions.

Nancy66 · 21/10/2013 11:14

Diana's relationship with the media is very well documented.

You do know she did a book with Andrew Morton don't you Marsmallo - Andrew Morton the former tabloid royal correspondent?

That she had a very close relationship with Richard Kay from the Mail. Google there are pictures of them together.

Diana was vain, attention seeking, self-absorbed and dangerously unhinged.

I'm not saying the press did always treat her well but the idea that she was always some victim is bollocks.

Look at that last holiday with Dodi where took a launch out to the press pack to tease them about some 'very big announcement'

Bonsoir · 21/10/2013 11:14

I agree with wordfactory. "Effortlessly perfect in all circumstances" is going to be a very hard act for Kate to maintain long term.

LaGuardia · 21/10/2013 11:17

It was also reported in the Times. The people she was visiting said she displayed good athletic ability and threw herself into the volleyball game. So, I think we can assume from that reporting how in fact she lost her weight. Quite a positive and happy story, I thought.

Bonsoir · 21/10/2013 11:18

I really wonder about the image that William and Kate feel they need to project of some kind of super humans. Is that the new justification for Royalty - being better than everyone else?

Viviennemary · 21/10/2013 11:22

Well good for her. And it would be either that or the other Duchess of Cambridge still got baby tummy after so many months. That would be even worse IMHO. Not for her to have one but for them to print it. I like Fergie that much but the press were absolutely horrible about her.

ThePuffyShirt · 21/10/2013 11:23

Well I was impressed.

Not that she lost the weight as I was the same, but at how flat and toned looking her abdomen is - mine looked blubbery for ages.

DreamingOfTheMaldives · 21/10/2013 11:25

When DS was born I weighed 7lb less than before I'd got pregnant. But I was overweight to begin with and still amIt doesn't take a dietician and personal trainers to regain your pre-pregnancy figure if you haven't put any weight on other than the baby etc. I gained bump during my pregnancy but lost weight elsewhere such as face, arms etc

Most slim or athletic women of which i am neither i fortunately who don't gain much weight in pregnancy, seem to ping back to shape after

Ezza1 · 21/10/2013 11:27

Huh, thats nothing - she had that baby ages ago! Mine is 3 weeks old and I've lost all my doughnut induced baby weight.

Its DC4 though so I may be doing a little more running around than KM Grin

curiousuze · 21/10/2013 11:29

Me too thepuffy - I kind of look on in awe. I'm not comparing myself to her as such, I'm just enjoying looking at her and boggling as to how she does it! She's so tall, athletic and healthy looking. I still looked like the wrath of god at this stage...

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 11:31

I suppose it's possible that as a reasonably secure young woman and one whose husband seems to love her she doesn't really give a damn what the world thinks of her and I hope that she is enjoying her time with her first born child.

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:36

"You knew her too, Marm?"

Yes.

Mine and Diana's tipsy lunch dates were well-documented in the '80s. It was actually me who introduced her to the "too-much eyeliner" look. I also got Fergie into wearing those crap padded Alice bands, in a bid to make Diana look even better. I bought Charles some curly-toed slippers for christmas in 1992. I hear he still wears them at Highgrove, despite Camilla's best efforts to have them sent to the charity shop.

Did you know her too? Have we lunched?

mignonnette · 21/10/2013 11:39

marmalade You created a bloody monster you did. Wink

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 11:40

No

wordfactory · 21/10/2013 11:42

marshamallow you believe Kate doesn't care what the world thinks of her?

Really? Grin Grin Grin.

Ministrone · 21/10/2013 11:43

Also, as far as I can remember it was blue eyeliner wasn't it? Did you like the double entendre or was it a play on words?

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:43

Ay know, mignonette. I am ashamed, it must be said. Especially after all that coaching I gave her for Panorama came to nothing but tears and embarrassment. :(

mignonnette · 21/10/2013 11:47

And what were you doing encouraging her to watch surgery and how many people are wandering around with one of her detached false eyelashes floating around in their thorax? Marmalade???

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 11:48

It began as blue eyeliner in the 1980s but being a modern gal, Di soon switched to black in the '90s. Exhibit A
