to be very pissed off with the local takeaway

Placed an order and was given an estimated time of 30-45 mins. I called back after an HOUR, and was told my order had just left ten minutes ago (I live a 5 min walk from the takeaway, probably less than 1 min by car) and would be with me asap. I called again after another 20 mins and asked where the hell our food is! They've said it was delayed because he forgot to put a pizza in - I said we haven't ordered pizza!! I asked him to confirm what my order is as I'm concerned there's a mix up somewhere, but he couldn't tell me my order because the slip is apparently out with the driver for delivery! That was 15 minutes ago.

I'm raging.

DD has already fallen asleep on the couch and woken up crying as she's hungry! I've offered to make her something to eat but she's adamant that she wants her food from the takeway.

1 hour and 45 mins and still not bloody here!!

TBH if you only live 5 minutes away I'm surprised they deliver to you at all ,why didn't you just go and get it .

Tell them to give it to you for free. Friday nights are a nightmare but that is taking the piss. Picniclady Hmm

yes yes OP it is all your fault clearly as the other posters have suggested you are being unreasonable not the takeaway who have not delivered 80 minutes after you placed an order Hmm

So picniclady, the OP shouldn't be cross because she shouldn't be eating a takeaway? Really? The different ways people can find to judge never ceases to amaze me.

I'd call it quits and cook some pasta or something. Have a (different) takeaway tomorrow.

Ooh this kind of thing does my head in. Especially when they lie through their teeth and are "ten minutes away" for an hour... Refuse to hand over any money. Tell them you'll pay them in ten minutes...

Oh blimey Picniclady - straight in there with a negative.
( take it your picnic is super healthy), have you never had the odd meal that you know is not going to give you all thefibre/ vits/mins and the 5 day you need?

And it could be a healthy takeway. I love the gorgeous kebab place that does a yummy grilled veg kebab.

I don't blame you for being angry OP, I really really hate this. I don't know why they lie in the first place! I would take the food without making a fuss (so they don't do anything nasty to it while they have the opportunity) AND DON'T PAY

I love less than 5 minutes away from my local takeaway and still get my food delivered..thats the whole point of having a delivery service.
I would phone and either say you're not paying or tell them to stick it and dont use them again.

I ordered on Just-eat so already paid up front unfortunately. Will definitely be leaving negative feedback though!

It arrived just after I posted this. It was hot, but obviously reheated! I use this takeaway regularly, but doubt I will now! It's the lying and the attitude they gave me rather than just apologising!

And yes, I live 5 mins away. It's cold, it's wet and it's dark. This is our Friday night routine - we get into jammies, order takeaway and watch a movie or two cosied up on the couch. The takeaway agree to deliver to me, so why shouldn't I use - and pay - for the service?

The whole point of a delivery service is so you don't have to get up off your backside and get it yourself, regardless of how near or far you live.

The OP is asking if she is being unreasonable to be pissed off and of course she isn't, it's a no brainer.

And as for the "yabu to order takeaway crap" Go eat a bloody lettuce.

kinky - very bloody annoying!! Why not go in over the weekend and complain, loudly. Hopefully they'll take note & maybe even offer you a free one next Friday.

If you get on the 'Chat' part of Just-Eat and tell someone there exactly what's happened they should negotiate at least a partial refund on your behalf.

I had part of an order replaced with something I didn't ask for (ice cream, don't mess with my ice cream!), went on the Chat and got it sorted.

Take away sounds awful, wouldn't use them again. Hope they didn't charge.
