I don't know why but this phrase always makes me want to scream.

Maybe it's because I have friends (& family) who post it multiple times EVERY day

My cat is so cute. I am blessed :)

My food is so yummy, I am blessed :)

Ad infinitum

I know you have wonderful friends, family, cat, partner, food but seriously more than once a week and it gives me the FB rage!!

AIBU to hate this phrase on FB

eeeurgh you're right it make me want to barf
either that or post that I must be cursed due to the copious volumes of shit I have going on at the moment.

DisappointedHorse · 14/10/2013 21:13

I agree.

I have a lovely friend who I adore in real life but her FB updates make me want to hide her. They're all baby/child pictures with captions like "So, so beautiful! I am utterly blessed and they complete me"

Gushers, ugh.

stillenacht · 14/10/2013 21:15

Yes I see it too...

Feel like writing"Well I'm fucking not. I have a job thats wearing me down and a DS with sodding low functioning autism. Life is pretty shite. Now sod off!!!"

As you were. (Equally annoying)

Oh i'm sodding well annoying myself (Its been a bad night)

Confused
mrsjay · 14/10/2013 21:17

I like facebook and things dont usually bother me but i love my babies gives me the rage , I want to reply so you fucking should get off facebook and tell them, i might be a bit pmty sorry

puntasticusername · 14/10/2013 21:18

Agree. It's a lovely sentiment of course, and I do think it to myself quite a lot, because - especially since starting to read mn! - I'm very conscious of how lucky I am in life, but I seriously limit how much I share those thoughts. I don't expect everyone else to appreciate my feelings quite as much as I do.

And also because "blessed" is a slightly problematic word for an atheist such as myself...

tolittletoolate · 14/10/2013 21:18

I have an ex friend that writes things like - I had a lovely lunch with the girls followed by a lovely ride on my lovely horse, now going for a lovely walk with my lovely dogs.

Seriously every day, I unfriended her and told her why!!

plantsitter · 14/10/2013 21:20

I can't STAND it when people say 'bliss'. Such as: takeaway, wine, Strictly and a cuddle on the sofa - bliss' I don't know why but it drives me INSANE.

Blessed is bad too.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 14/10/2013 21:21

My lovely cousin posts loads of photos of her (very cute) toddler. I have no problem with seeing a photo of little Theodora every time she farts or blinks but really, must every photo be captioned with "I love her"?! I mean, she's your kid, we get that you love her, you don't need to tell us every 12 hours or so!

Laurel1979 · 14/10/2013 21:22

YANBU I hate this too, in my friend list it tends to be people who have toddler/baby photos who add this caption. I can't explain why it annoys me so much.. It makes me want to post something like I feel blessed being able to afford to go on so many holidays etc. However I doubt it would be well received..... On a serious note, for those unable to conceive etc it must be hard to keep reading posts like that.

Bogeyface · 14/10/2013 21:24

I hate that too, which yet another reason why I barely use FB.

The only time I saw it and was genuinely moved was when my friends dad died. They posted together, at the same time "Our beloved father passed away last night. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives"

It was upsetting and nice at the same time, as he really was an amazing man who adored his children. But blessed to have a nice dinner? I put ODFOD on one once thinking I was being clever, turns out that a) I was slightly pished and b) the person was an MNer Blush

FlutterShyPinkiePie · 14/10/2013 21:25

Ooh yes lots of these annoy me too, especially - bliss! I'd forgotten that one. How is it I can adore these people in RL but they annoy me so much on Facebook!

Another one - cannot fathom the "happy 2nd birthday tae ma wee niece. Have a braw day sweetheart xxxxx" status updates. Given the unlikelihood that a 2 year pours over facefuck why this mawkish need to publicly share this with 534 "friends".

MrTumblesKnickers · 14/10/2013 21:39

"I love my babies"

everytime I read something like this on FB I want to post in a Chris Rock voice: "You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker! What do you want, a cookie?"

puntasticusername · 14/10/2013 21:42

My friends' daughter has her own fb profile.

Her age? Er, at this point, approx 32 weeks gestation.

But that's a whole other thread Grin

AgentProvocateur · 14/10/2013 21:43

I fucking hate "feeling blessed" too. I have hidden all posts from serial offenders. It makes me want to vomit and stab the poster at the same time! There's even an emoticon for it!!

mrsjay · 14/10/2013 21:45

I have hidden a vom inducing family member she is great but if i see one more picture of her little precious princesses i may need to punch her de friend

Katekate77 · 14/10/2013 21:50

Who hates it when people put:

I can't believe it!
Can't his year get any worse?
Worst news ever :(

Etc etc. just to provoke a bunch of sympathy and "what's up Hun, inbox me." messages.

Grrrr. Get off my news feed!!! Confused

PansOnFire · 14/10/2013 21:51

Oh, the scan pictures on Facebook - unbearable! And the 'like this if you love your baby' memes. Pathetic.

Katekate77 · 14/10/2013 21:52

And yes, feeling blessed that I've just had a roast dinner and now I'm sitting watching a chick flick with a glass of wine....WTF?

Lovecat · 14/10/2013 21:52

I have had to hide a mum of DD's school friend who does this for fear I will snap and post something I shouldn't.

Mind you, this is the same woman who went to Jamaica for a fortnight and came back ending every FB post 'Praise Jah' or 'Jah Live' for three months so hey ho...

Bogeyface · 14/10/2013 21:52

If we are going away from feeling blessed...

WIBU for defriending BIL after he posted about his "gorjus ickle princess" once too often. He loves his DD, I get it, but FFS! He is in his 40's btw and his DD is 14, I would love to know how she feels about it!

QOD · 14/10/2013 21:53

All beds with clean sheets, everyone bathed, on the sofa with my man, life is lush

Makes me want to stab peopl

Katekate77 · 14/10/2013 21:54

Oh yes!

Share this picture in the next 20 seconds or else someone close to you will die and you will get terrible luck for 10 years!!!

Aaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh!

I could be on here all night Smile

mrsjay · 14/10/2013 21:54

Shock @ your BIL bogey that poor girl unless she likes being his princess and gets loads of stuff Grin
