Facebook - I am so blessed :)

I don't know why but this phrase always makes me want to scream.

Maybe it's because I have friends (& family) who post it multiple times EVERY day

My cat is so cute. I am blessed :)

My food is so yummy, I am blessed :)

Ad infinitum

I know you have wonderful friends, family, cat, partner, food but seriously more than once a week and it gives me the FB rage!!

AIBU to hate this phrase on FB

My friend has a fb profile for each of her under-threes and tells them she luvz them

BooItTooJulia · 15/10/2013 11:12

I heard it said once that Facebook is a cyber parking space for the ego.

About right.

Moistenedbint1 · 15/10/2013 12:13

Status update - "I'm such a beached whale" (this type of faux self deprecating remark is usually accompanied by a genuinely flattering shot.. where the facebooker is question looks but whale like)

(always tempted to ask these individuals why the fuck they feel compelled to publicly share an image which seemingly does them such a disservice.. But I digress..)

*cue a load of obsequious, fawning, frankly nauseating replies - "but you look gorjus babes" plus a torrent of "likes".

So if your ego is in need of a stroke.. You can always fish for compliments on facefuck.. Plenty of blindly naive bootlicking sycophants willing to provide that narcissitic supply.

How very, very apt....

Bogeyface · 15/10/2013 12:37

Moisten I think I would reply with "Wow, yeah I see what you mean! Slimming World are good I have heard, good luck :)"

BUt I am fucking bitch :o

Bogeyface · 15/10/2013 12:38

a fucking bitch......who can't construct a sentence!

Moistenedbint1 · 15/10/2013 12:43

Grin I like it Bogey

trolleycoin · 15/10/2013 12:45

OP - no YADNBU. I cannot bear all this "bliss", "lush" or stupid selfies where they look surprised they have taken their own picture.

Also can't bear it when people write status updates on FB, addressed to dead people such as relatives. I get that its the anniversary/significant date in relation to the deceased, but why can't they just say "I'm feeling sad today, it would have been Grandad's/Mum's/pet cat etc birthday" rather than address a load of emotional guff to a person who can't see it.

BooitTooJulia spot on.

stooshe · 15/10/2013 14:21

A friend (forty one years old) has "married" as her relationship status (she is the third post marriage partner of a man three years estranged from his wife), she is a true born, white, Bermondsey woman, but has changed her status to being born in Kingston, Jamaica and now living in one of its parishes (she still lives in UK). As a SAHM, she "works" at a hairdressers franchise, weirdly located in Australia (!) and has only two photographs of her partner in her "albums"; one taken when she woke him up with the flash of her camera and another taken in the middle of the day in summer with her wrap around sunglasses on, inside.
Of course, I am not seeing anything that she isn't (yeah, right). This is the sad end of Face Book when grown people construe a fake(ish) life because their ego can't allow them to deal with the shit in their own, real lives. Lots of this irritating ish on FaceBook. Kinda understandable in Kids and very young adults. The damn near middle aged, though......

Seff · 15/10/2013 14:34

I love this thread!

I sometimes wonder why I'm on facebook at all, it just makes me mad. Not only stuff like this, but the crap from racists, bigots or the people that think anyone who claims benefits is a work shy scumbag. Or maybe my friends are just horrible people!

Then I remember I'm just really nosy.

Thistledew · 15/10/2013 14:41

Same FB friend posted last night a really 'profound' post about how we shouldn't follow the crowd but should all aim to be 'leaders' but not follow 'leaders' who won't be questioned (so if none of us are following, who are the leaders leading? Hmm). But then followed it up by saying that she didn't mean to post it at all as it was an unfinished thought. How on earth do you accidentally post a FB status update?

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 15/10/2013 15:19

I'm so glad to see that we have entered Open Fire Season. This was heralded a few weeks ago by faux worried 'oh where can I find a chimney sweep?' status updates and now we're well into pictures of open fires, usually instagrammed, complete with 'pyjamas on, fire lit, bliss!' statuses.

Serial offenders post every Saturday night about 'watching Strictly and toasting marshmallows in front of the fire' but they are really gearing up for the Open Fire Money Shot which is the Christmas Eve one with the DC's stockings hung up. Awww, amazing hun!!!

dogsdieinhotcars · 15/10/2013 16:03

Where did 'selling your crap' come from on FB? Like adding a few twinkles on a £1 diary and trying flog it. And your hardly used very expensive baby gear. It's just boring. So and so 'likes' this, and OMG, that 'like for looks' thing. My younger family did that, ok at 12 maybe. Tedious crap though. Oh I left it all behind last year after testing it for a couple of years. Thank the f**k I did! Now I spend my time arsing about in Twitter (and newly on here!)Blush

Bogeyface · 15/10/2013 17:56

Thistle I love the ones about being an individual and not following the crowd that has been viral and already shared by several billion people. Do you think you get an irony bypass free with your 1000th "like"?! :o

Ezza1 · 15/10/2013 19:01

I

mistyshouse · 15/10/2013 19:04

YANBU

its cringe worthy

GatoradeMeBitch · 15/10/2013 19:37

My pet hate is when someone posts a photo of themselves captioned with 'No make-up, ugh!' just so they can get a slew of 'You look gorgeous as ever hun!!' comments.

(And you can usually tell they have subtle make-up on too!)

bogeyface ha, I have always hoped that the fact that the phone is smart means I don't have to be? Isn't that how it works?

And re Brian Blessed - everyone knows about this, right?

wispywoo1 · 15/10/2013 20:59

my cousin is awful for posting pictures of her little boy. Yes he is cute, but we don't need to see 8 photos of him opening one present. Put the phone down and actually make memories.

I am already dreading the "omg I've seen the coca cola advert. Xmas is officially on the way wooooo!" bore off!

3asAbird · 15/10/2013 21:36

had to chuckle at this.

blessed gives me the rage about most mundane things

have some fb freiends really should delete love my family, love my babies, over post pics like 10 a day if their chlid.

Or their cleaning marathons.

so many carefully editing their wall to give perfect life.

blessed is an expression and im sure there,s few others that annoy me so.

Vague booking so many attention seeking people.

cousin who,s forever posting selfies with instragram and calling herself yummy mummy.

Cousins girlfreind turning into bridezilla planning perfect disney princess wedding makes me laugh.

Its good way keep in touch family but also makes me feel bit down or in rage some days.

WearingAnUmbrellaHat · 15/10/2013 21:42

"thanks babe for the best year ever on our first wedding anniversary"

I don't care!! Just say it to each other Grin

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 15/10/2013 22:01

I am beyond livid. My dm died last night. As it's my business I didn't put anything on fb. within minutes my dn has put a RIP nan up. Thus garnering a whole slew of awwwhuns from people who never knew her. Angry

"thanks babe for the best year ever on our first wedding anniversary"
"Ah lovely! Has he stopped shagging your next door neighbour then?!"

'No make-up, ugh!'
"Have you tried the Boots foundation matcher service? I found it really good :)" Nice and PassAgg that one!

"Life is so unfair"
"I know hun, but at least you found out what a cheating bastard he is now before you married/had children/bought a new house (delete as appropriate) with him!"
