Facebook - I am so blessed :)

FlutterShyPinkiePie · 14/10/2013 21:07

I don't know why but this phrase always makes me want to scream.

Maybe it's because I have friends (& family) who post it multiple times EVERY day

My cat is so cute. I am blessed :)

My food is so yummy, I am blessed :)

Ad infinitum

I know you have wonderful friends, family, cat, partner, food but seriously more than once a week and it gives me the FB rage!!

AIBU to hate this phrase on FB

OP posts:
Ericaequites · 15/10/2013 02:54

My pet hate is people who post about how much they love their children, but in RL can't be bothered to wash their clothes or faces, discipline them, or help them with their reading.

MrsBramleyApple · 15/10/2013 03:02

My friends teenage children doing "like for looks!" makes me want to scream!

FatOwl · 15/10/2013 03:10

I'm with everyone

Blessed and bliss makes my skin crawl

As does vague-booking- I refuse to engage

And the silly bra colour games that masquerade as cancer awareness

But the absolute worst is the ones who dare you to post a status about autism/sen etc otherwise you don't care

That said I do love fb as I live overseas and use it to share photos and keep up with selected family and friends
And ranting- I love a good fb rant!

CharityFunDay · 15/10/2013 03:59

I am so blessed that I am not on FaceBook.

Every time I see one of these threads, I count my blessings all the more.

Forward to 600 people within the next two seconds, or your house will burn down.

BearsBeetsBattlestarGalactica · 15/10/2013 06:46

I saw one the other day that had an arty pic of some bloke holding a baby with the words 'A man is not complete until he has fathered a child' or some tosh vair similar to that. Urgh. Fuck orf!

I don't get much at all like that in my newsfeed so I am relatively calm when I am on fb.

But I do suspect I may be mrsjay's sister though Blush. In my defence I don't put that many selfies up and it's only because I don't have anyone else who takes my photo.

TheCountessOlenska · 15/10/2013 07:07

I post loads of pictures of the DC - but I realise only my mum and sister are interested, I hope other people will just scroll merrily past them!

My Facebook bug bears: all of the above (esp. kids with food smeared on their faces - so gross) plus pictures of people's dinners - invariably look like a PLATE OF VOMIT

NutcrackerFairy · 15/10/2013 07:09

This thread is great!

Especially enjoyed 'feeling blessed on the bread aisle' and bogey's literally feeling [Brian] Blessed.

Thistledew · 15/10/2013 07:29

I have a relative who does all the "feeling blessed" about her "incredible life" and "amazing family". OK, she has a nice enough life and some lovely people in it, and it is great that she is happy about it, but really, it is nothing out of the ordinary. What particularly grates is that she does actually believe that she and her family have been personally selected by god to have such a wonderful existence. Hmm

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 15/10/2013 07:49

oh yes the "repost this or you are clearly a heartless bitch and don't care about.........." (insert random medical condition/disability).
FUCK OFF
As an aside I had a friend post a "stranger danger" warning , be careful type warning about a supposedly local incident. I clicked the link.....it was a news story from Illinois... I am in Cardiff :)

Moistenedbint1 · 15/10/2013 08:05

Just wait until Christmas..

Loosingthebigkickers · 15/10/2013 08:08

I feel like I need to apologise to all my fb friends. I literally constantly posted about soppy stuff when I had dd. Now my SIL has her first and ive had to hide her on Facebook. X ate a cat biscuit today. arrr isn't that amazing! hahahaha x is sooo funny..oh sooo cute. . arrr love her soo much.

Only now do I realise how fucking irritating it is.

Loosingthebigkickers · 15/10/2013 08:11

Thistledew - While I hear your pain. .. I actually read your post and thought. .ah thats nice that her friend seems genuinely happy with her life..even if there is 'nothing out of the ordinary' about it.

I sure as hell wish I was content with my lot!
greedy cow always wanting more

tolittletoolate · 15/10/2013 08:56

My niece always just puts like for an inbox or some such rubbish!

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 15/10/2013 09:03

i am severing ties with arsebook, i have so many people hidden its not worth the game anymore. what pushes my buttons is the wanky "inspirational" shite-implying that if you don't like/share then you don't support "our boys" "cancer" (wtf-yes i totally support cancer)don't love your kids/partner/mother/cat/hamster.
the world is full of morons(except me and you)

MrsMook · 15/10/2013 09:18

The "I

Alexandrite · 15/10/2013 09:54

I've only seen "I'm so blessed" posted by religious South Africans, but maybe it is spreading

Sneets · 15/10/2013 09:59

FB is total shite! Selling tat, bragging how great your life is, pics to prove you're 'it'.

BS!

...got that one of my chest...Bliss! Grin

DeWe · 15/10/2013 10:02

I have the hiccups-I am so blessed.

Sneets · 15/10/2013 10:03

bootsycollins that's the very reason I left FB. it's called life that cleaning and cooking stuff. Dozey sad wenches. Angry

elliejjtiny · 15/10/2013 10:11

Love the sleeping giant causes traffic chaos and feeling blessed in the bread aisle Grin.

I get a lot of "loving my man and my girlies" rubbish on my feed. Also the "can't bear to see my little man so poorly" when their child has a cold. Someone I know had a pregnancy album on facebook, sticks she peed on, scan photos, weekly bump photos and individual photos of everything she bought her baby. Someone else put loads and loads of holiday photos, starting with pictures of the suitcases. 300 photos later they still hadn't left the airport!

Don't get me started on the vaguebooking or the cleaning ones.

kcumber · 15/10/2013 10:27

someone on my newsfeed has just shared a mock-up picture of a tombstone with the words "didn't forward the facebook picture to ten friends" on itHmm

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 15/10/2013 10:37

KateKate, yes, I can't stand the 'fishing' kind of updates. 'Well, what a shit day.', 'She's gone too far this time', etc.

Fucking tell us what's ACTUALLY wrong, or keep quiet!

Thistledew · 15/10/2013 10:59

Loosingthebigkickers - I do agree with you that it is fantastic that she is happy with her life and thankful for it. I think it is the "Feeling Blessed" that sets my teeth on edge. It has a suggestion that her good fortune is that much brighter and shinier because it is a special gift from god, and any good fortune that the rest of us heathens have will never make us quite as happy.

Thistledew · 15/10/2013 11:03

I love the sleeping giant one too. I also quite like an occasional picture of kids if they are looking especially lovely or doing something funny. What gets a bit tedious is the half a dozen pictures all taken on the same occasion, including the slightly out of focus ones with baby's back to the camera. Just pick the one best photo and post that!

CarlaBrooni · 15/10/2013 11:04

We are turning into Americans.
