to be annoyed by the anti-intellectualism of Peppa Pig?

There is frequent and open mockery of anyone who says anything vaguely intelligent. eg Edmund Elephant is a show off clever clogs if he tries to explain gravity. Daddy Pig's job is also seen as unbelievably dull because it involves writing numbers on a board. There are more examples but I am too pregnant to remember them.

DS is ill today and I have watched about a million episodes of PP so I speak with some authority but may also just be reacting to the enforced wall-to-wall Pig. IABU?

We like Grampy Rabbit Goes To Space, where Grampy Rabbit loses his voice and then sings about space. Or the Desert Island with Grampy Rabbit thinking about cheese.

Grampy Rabbit basically.

penguinpaperback · 21/09/2013 00:31

My favourite episode is Secret Club. But Daddy and Mummy Pig should move Goldie (and his bowl) off the top of the telly.

IceBeing · 21/09/2013 00:32

I actually went in to some sort of stasis on watching my first grampy rabbit episode...it was the dinosaur park one...

DD spent the whole next hour pretending to be a fox and sniff for eggs while I sat rocking mumbling 'Gordons alive' to myself over and over again.

IceBeing · 21/09/2013 00:35

Actually...and this is a truly horrifying thought....it is possible my DD thinks her name actually is Peppa. She refers to herself as 'Peppi' but it suddenly occurred to me she might be aiming for Peppa rather than her actual name...

Oh dear gods.

This is awful.

YoureMyOrangeGoldWifeNowDave · 21/09/2013 01:00

After reading this thread I showed DH the t-shirts on the peppa pig website - this time next week DH will be wearing daddy pig and I will be wearing mummy pig Grin I can't wait to see my DD's face Grin

MrsHelsBels74 · 21/09/2013 04:09

DS1 has taken to saying 'I'm a bit bored' all the time. Sadly this thread has revealed nothing new to me implying that watch far too much PP in this household. Blush

AllThreeWays · 21/09/2013 05:01

There is a line that makes me want to scream at the screen, where Daddy pig says he's done all the hard work, he designed the building, now all the builders have to do is build it. I to thought he was an architect, although he could be an engineer.
I love George, he is exactly like my 2 yr old. "DInoSaur!" They have characterised the personalities so well.

jchocchip · 21/09/2013 05:20

I've never seen peppa pig. Aibu to want to watch it on iplayer after reading this thread?

MortifiedAdams · 21/09/2013 06:25

Do it jcho

ElleBelly · 21/09/2013 06:34

Bong bing boo, bing bong bing, bingly bongly bingly bongly bollocks.

oohdaddypig · 21/09/2013 06:44

Well, as my name suggests, I'm secretly in love with daddy pig.

So, on that reason alone YABU.

(Miss rabbit also works as a nanny to Ben and holly. Dressed as a fairy. I think she needs a trade union)

jinglebitch · 21/09/2013 06:57

Grampy pig is also Wise Old Elf.

We have been staying at IL for 3 months while house is being renovated; they don't have Nick Jr. This thread has actually made me ache for Peppa, the Pig family, and animals with both their eyes on one side of their noses in general. Sad

oohdaddypig · 21/09/2013 07:00

Jingle - you are brilliant. Although WOE is a sexist twat.

My eldest says she is too grown up for Peppa. How can that be when I love it?

Ps you can download episodes of Peppa if you have access to a PC

Therealamandaclarke · 21/09/2013 07:14

Love pp and B&H
Our new hobby is spotting the crossover "actors" between the two shows Blush

PumpUpMyVolume · 21/09/2013 07:47

Jingle - we don't have Nick Jr, we just catch it on C5 (8,15 ish) And in our asda, the dvds are only £3 so you can endlessly watch the same 10 episodes over & over & over...

Didactylos · 21/09/2013 08:05

my favourite peppa bit is that Mr Elephant (Dr Elephant?) is played by Andy Hamilton who also played Satan in Old Harrys Game on radio 4 ,so Peppa has these daft conversations to Satans voice

Manchesterhistorygirl · 21/09/2013 09:50

After discussion with dh, seriously how has this become my life, he says that daddy pig is more of a project manager/engineer than an actual architect.

Bingly! Bongly, bollocks! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

MortifiedAdams · 21/09/2013 09:56

I like seeing my dds name in the credits (same as the voice of Suzie) - its a rare ish one. Just wish it was tagged on a nicer character.

Anyone else hate the Vets voice?

MyLovelyMayoMammy · 21/09/2013 10:07

King thistle from B&H is Owen the bullying builder from corrie. Dd noticed that during a flood on peppa pig no one was concerned about the rabbit family who all live underground.:o

elQuintoConyo · 21/09/2013 16:37

Laughingy arse off at wall-to-wall pig and sahr (stay at home rabbit)!

DH is Spanish, he fucking hates the way Pedro Pony (is he a pony? Luckily I've only seen about six episodes Grin ) is always the one getting it wrong: wrong fancy dress outfit made DH shout obscenities at the screen into his jumper and shout: "it's bloody Manuel all over again!".

Poor Daddy elQuintoConyo Sad

MrsHelsBels74 · 21/09/2013 17:49

The hamster's voice makes my teeth itch!

HarderToKidnap · 21/09/2013 18:17

Just seen the adverts for the new Ben and Holly, done Game of Thrones style. Brilliant. I LOVE PP and B&h.

Buswanker · 21/09/2013 20:02

When I was watching Peppa pig recently I did think that if daddy pig was a real life person he might be quite fanciable.

RatHammock · 21/09/2013 20:15

I thought Madame Gazelle was a play on Madamoiselle?

And Alexander Armstrong is brilliant as Mr Fox and (I think) Mr Wolf. "Oh look. Little piggies!"

I love Peppa Pig!

out2lunch · 21/09/2013 20:18
