What kind of twattery is this??!

OP posts:
HerdyHerdwick · 21/09/2013 10:20

Loathe.
Took nearly 30 mins to find the Airplay button.
Couldn't get Spotlight to work until I rebooted phone again.
Siri sounds much worse, he was supposed to be improved. He sounds unsure of himself now so when I set my alarm last night I didn't believe him when he told me he "wouldn't forget" Hmm
Interface looks cheap and tacky, my Apps now look like they belong on a pre-school toy.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 21/09/2013 10:43

Like it so far !

MaxineQuordlepleen · 21/09/2013 10:55

I like it. It looks fresh, no problems doing anything so far.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 21/09/2013 11:12

I like the look of it, but the battery on my iphone and ipad is wearing out quicker, it seems slower and when I'm online the internet suddenly I'll get thrown out. Not thinking it's great at the mo.

coorong · 21/09/2013 11:27

podcasts not working tho'

weregonnaneedasmallerPan · 21/09/2013 11:38

Knuckle-draggers question. When I plug my iphone4 into i-tunes to update will this affect my iphone?

weregonnaneedasmallerPan · 21/09/2013 12:31

Hmmm..bless.

prettybird · 21/09/2013 13:15

I'm still using the "old" working Wink MN App and resolutely refusing to do an "Update all" to ensure that I can keep it; does this mean that if I were to update to iOS 7, it would automatically update my MN App?

Don't want that to happen.

Also have a couple of apps on my iPod that were downloaded using dh's password, when he was synching via my laptop. He's now changed his apple email address and so I can't update them (but they have pictures etc on them that I want to keep) Would they cause a problem?

Have to say that given that battery life is already an issue on my iPod, I'm not sure I want to update - still on IOS5 'cos I lost stuff (including some important and sentimental photos) when I updated from iOS4 Sad

pumpkinsweetie · 21/09/2013 13:17

Yanbu, i'm not keen Ebay & Fb pants on it & mn isn't brilliant either!
Was ok to begin with until i realised all the apps had changed, tbh it's much like Android. Apple are losing their way, steve jobs will be rolling in his grave. He would have never made these changes!

sunnyweatherplease · 21/09/2013 13:34

hate it.
icons look like they were designed to appeal to 3 yr olds.

Yonionekanobe · 21/09/2013 13:38

Funny you say that sunny, my 2.5 yr old is quite taken by it...

I'm not having any tech problems (so far) but hate the design.

Glittertwins · 21/09/2013 13:43

No problem with FB app here. What's wrong?

OberonTheHopeful · 21/09/2013 13:43

I upgraded last night and have no problems so far. I quite like the look and feel of the UI and especially that settings like Bluetooth can be accessed without unlocking the phone.

I haven't noticed any issues with Siri, but as it uses Apple's servers it's possible that there will be some performance issues right now. This could also be affecting app updates.

BerylStreep · 21/09/2013 13:49

Hate it. Can't answer the phone - it keeps going dead.

It looks all 'in your face'

DalmationDots · 21/09/2013 14:04

I like it, feels like a new phone!

sydlexic · 21/09/2013 14:08

Don't like it, don't like change.

NoComet · 21/09/2013 14:32

better, aps now updated and Polyvore has stopped crashing.

Haven't tried anything as hi tec as phoning any one.

Actually tend to use the landline as mobile coverage here is pants.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 21/09/2013 14:39

I do love it but my battery does seem to be draining very quickly.

What should I have turned off?

FacebookWanker · 21/09/2013 14:44

I haven't installed it yet. I just can't see how anything related to a phone/iPad can be that amazing...

WhiteandGreen · 21/09/2013 15:05

The design looks cheap and nasty.

ihearsounds · 21/09/2013 16:46

Make sure your apps are closed and that it's not updating automatically. It's improved the life of my battery. By now I am usually around 40%, still on 74%

Been messing with it more.

I have loads of games on it. They took several folders. Now in one folder. Instead of swiping across 5 screen, everything is on one screen. Bliss.

Occasionally I take something from a message and send it to someone else. Options used to be copy or speak.. Now easy send bits to other people.

Those saying ooh it's too bright. Turn it down. Very easy to do. The other option is to go for the darkest background you have.

Someone mentioned the search bar no longer searches the net for you. No but siri does.

Did you know the compass also acts as a level? No more having to rely on someone else to tell you if something is crooked before you hang it.

Audio only face time. Fab. Youngest likes using facetime. I hate the the thing, but use it first to get him connected.

Don't like how Siri talks.. He learns from you. Give him elocution lessons.

Hard to read screen - head off to accessibility - bold text - restart - your text will resemble io6

Someone mentioned it moves around too much - again in accessibility - you can reduce motion

Want to reduce ads - in privacy you can limit ads. Yes it's always been there, but in the past it was hidden elsewhere and something you usually stumbled accidentally across.

BadPoet · 21/09/2013 16:48

Downloaded it Wednesday evening, can no longer remember what iOS 6 (.1.3) looked like. I have an iPhone 4 though, so not sure the 'parallax' thingy works on mine and I don't care. I was looking forward to the new notification and control centres and sure enough, I love them. Not used to the camera yet but that'll come I'm sure. You can take photos in burst mode by pressing and holding the + volume button.

youarewinning · 21/09/2013 17:24

Mines currently downloading and stuck on preparing update Grin

I will comment in due course. My friend encouraged me to update though saying its great.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 21/09/2013 17:26

youare Mine did that too this morning.

Took about 2hrs in total.

I really like it. Smile

hiddenhome · 21/09/2013 17:32

I plucked up the courage and downloaded it onto my iphone to see what it was like. Took about two hours on my 4S.

I really like it Smile Looks nice and new. Conducted a few tweaks just to personalise things, then downloaded it onto my ipad too.

I've done a reset and the batteries are both coping well.
