Ooh that was really interesting. When I googled it I got a big sort of prickly power surge on the right hand side of my brain.

MadBusLady · 04/09/2013 14:50

I'm not sure my response can be that strong though, otherwise presumably I wouldn't be a sporner?

Thepowerof3 · 04/09/2013 14:51

Bad mignonette

Someone who clicks on every klaxon thread and watches every video of blackhead removal.

MurkyMinotaur · 04/09/2013 15:02

I've been wanting to ask other female trypophobics for years (but it's slightly inappropriate)...does anyone else remember when the surface layer of Always Ultra pads was a plasticky mesh? As though puberty wasn't bad enough?! It was probably around late 90's, early 2000's.

ToysRLuv · 04/09/2013 15:04

I remember it, but had no problem with it.

Pawprint · 04/09/2013 15:04

I googled. I don't feel well now :(

Crowler · 04/09/2013 15:04

NO!

ToysRLuv · 04/09/2013 15:04

But I'm not a trypophobic.

Thepowerof3 · 04/09/2013 15:23

Oh dear god

And it's Trypophobia.

Your phobia of repeated patterns can't be that bad if you don't mind having two po po in the same word. Grin

Thepowerof3 · 04/09/2013 15:47

That's no cure bluemonkeyspots you wicked thing

peachactiviaminge · 04/09/2013 16:04

Could be worse you could have Formicophilia.

Allofaflumble · 04/09/2013 16:04

I have had this "thing" since I was a child and I know my Mum had it as if we drew patterns on our hands she would shudder and run off.

My first memory was seeing a neighbour sitting by the fire and there was a blotchy patterned rash on her legs. I was repulsed and could not stop thinking about it.

Also those pebbles which are set into concrete! Yuck.

Since then I can react to lots of things. Tree bark, The Sanex advert (scream) and sometimes even the patterns in my cat's fur plus the holes where his whiskers come out.

I have looked at some of the images and yes they are vile. That girl with the holes in her arms and knees really upset me. I try not to look anymore, but sometimes life throws you an image you are not expecting!

Scratching as I write this and my back goes into a shudder.

Thepowerof3 · 04/09/2013 16:06

I bloody hat that sanex advert, the curanail one is my worst though

Don't look at photographs of the snout of a Manatee then AllofaFlumble. Lots of prickly spiked holes. And they swim right up to you ...

Eilidhbelle · 04/09/2013 16:13

I googled it because even reading this thread was making my skin crawl - it wasn't as bad as I thought. This thread is worse, I think, the NOT knowing.

mignonette · 04/09/2013 16:17

Here is Mr Manatee.

Thepowerof3 · 04/09/2013 16:19

Are they endangered? Would you be arrested if you bopped them on a snout, say with a boxing glove on a stick or something?

OP posts:
Allofaflumble · 04/09/2013 16:39

Mignonette that was awful. Not quite prepared for the patterned skin too.

Dare I say, they are damn cute too, just not such a close up of them. :)

FatPenguin · 04/09/2013 16:50

Just googled it and I didn't know this phobia existed.
Those of you that have it, can you look at a shower head, colander, sea sponge etc ?

HeffalumpTheFlump · 04/09/2013 16:55

I'm hiding this thread because everytime I see it the images come flooding back and make me feel sick. Yuck.

Bluemonkeyspots · 04/09/2013 16:55

I can penguin, it's more the "things" protruding from the holes that freak me out, especially if its skin.
