Surely , you finish your bath/shower and remove the bottles and out them back on shelf/ledge

You do not leave then on the sie of the bath

The side of the bath is the shelf.

Jeeze...

I had corner self thingie that fell off, now that's on the corner of the bath.

So my shower gel is on the shelf, but the shelf is on the bath.

vestandknickers · 18/08/2013 09:29

Ok. Have just checked the sides of my bath and found seven dinosaurs (not real ones), a plastic cow, a mermaid (also not real. I tihnk she may be a Barbie), a small plastic cup thing that possibly once contained a Screwball from a Mr Whippy van, a dolphin that lights up when it goes in the water, goggles, a power ranger with a foot missing and three damp flanels. No shampoo though so I think I'm doing ok. Also the Flash Bathroom cleaner is sitting on the top of the cistern - is that acceptable?

TheGinLushMinion · 18/08/2013 10:04

What else is the side of the bath for?? Confused

Bowlersarm · 18/08/2013 10:07

That's classy Chaos, I like it.

Ifancyashandy · 18/08/2013 10:07

Candles and wine thegin, candles and wine...

Cerisier · 18/08/2013 10:13

youmeatsix I find it strange when washing up liquid is kept under sinks, I know a few people who do this, even though it is being used frequently. They sometimes also keep the liquid soap hidden away so with dirty hands you have to touch cupboard door handles to reach the soap. Barking in my opinion Grin.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 18/08/2013 10:14

I don't like clutter on the side of the bath. I have a basket that everything's chucked into after a shower. Same with toys.

noisytoys · 18/08/2013 10:18

I have a floor to ceiling airing cupboard so all bottles go in there with the towels, nappies, scales etc. door closed and bathroom tidy. And the toaster goes in the cupboard with the electric can opener, bread maker and slow cooker. I hate clutter

sparklingstars · 18/08/2013 10:18

It stays on the bath, otherwise you have just sat down and then the child in the bath shouts 'Mum' and wants you to get it off the shelf for them.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 18/08/2013 10:21

No, you just collect the things needed before they get in, pop it on the side.

I've never went over the top for bath toys. Ds1 had a small army boat and a handful of soilders, ds2 has 3 rubber ducks. More than enough!

SybilRamkin · 18/08/2013 10:22

Monty27 you've just made me spit tea all over my lap! Removing the sides indeed!

Euphemia:Toilet paper when used with a toilet roll holder with a horizontal axle parallel to the wall has two possible orientations: the toilet paper may hang over (in front of) or under (behind) the roll. The choice is largely a matter of personal preference, dictated by habit. In surveys of American consumers and of bath and kitchen specialists, 60?70% of respondents prefer over.

Despite its being an apparently trivial topic, some people hold strong opinions on the matter. Advice columnist Ann Landers said that the subject was the most controversial issue in her column's history. Defenders of either position cite advantages ranging from aesthetics, hospitality, and cleanliness to paper conservation, the ease of detaching individual squares, and compatibility with a recreational vehicle or a cat. Celebrities and experts are found on both sides. Some writers have proposed connections to age, sex, or political philosophy; and survey evidence has shown a correlation with socioeconomic status.

Solutions range from compromise, to using separate dispensers or separate bathrooms entirely, or simply ignoring the issue altogether. One man advocates a plan under which his country will standardize on a single forced orientation, and at least one inventor hopes to popularize a new kind of toilet roll holder which swivels from one orientation to the other.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 18/08/2013 10:31

I have a shelf on the bath where I keep the shampoo etc

I have another shelf above the loo with a cupboard where I hide the expensive conditioner

I don't have a loo roll holder as yet so they sit on the radiator or the shelf behind the loo

sparklingstars · 18/08/2013 11:03

If you get the things for them then that's not encouraging self sufficiency though is it? Always worth encouraging if we don't want to be treated like servants. I suppose we could just make them get out of the bath to get it themselves Grin

My DC are off on a course tomorrow, so far it has taken them an hour to get their kit together but I'm not doing it for them - they are old enough to be given the kit list and told to get on with it. I don't think we should do everything for them.

Boosterseat · 18/08/2013 11:05

I have one of these!

Well classy!

Itsmymove · 18/08/2013 11:09

I try to colour code my shower gel and shampoo to match my towels so that they look nice on display on the ledge! True story. I am a weirdo. Blush

SacreBlue · 18/08/2013 11:10

Envy Campari

I just hate it when I've tipped the multitude of lynx shower gels upside down so the last bit gets used & later, when the boy has done the same at my behest without closing them, I discover the flood via stench factor.

monicalewinski · 18/08/2013 11:30

SybilRamkin Thank you for that explanation! My mum changes all my toilet rolls round whenever she stays and I spend the whole time she's here changing them back - I was brought up to have them underneath, but changed over the years to being an "over the top" person - it drives me potty!

To the OP, I'm with you - I HATE clutter, everything has its place and things need to be put back!! (I don't have a ledge though, I have a chrome shower tidy thing on the wall).

UnknownGnome · 18/08/2013 12:09

I used to have a chrome shower tidy thing but it went rusty and looked appalling. I wish i had a cupboard Sad

Oldraver · 18/08/2013 12:12

This is a 'lifes too short' questions

Gruntfuttock · 18/08/2013 12:14

monicalewinski have you told your mother not to do that? I think she's got a bloody cheek tbh.

Turniptwirl · 18/08/2013 12:15

If this is your biggest problem in life then I want your life!
