Surely , you finish your bath/shower and remove the bottles and out them back on shelf/ledge

You do not leave then on the sie of the bath

OP posts:
ILikeToClean · 17/08/2013 23:15

I'm with you OP, for our main bathroom (which DDs mainly use) I have a stainless steel corner shelf in the shower and all bottles go back without fail! For other stuff I have baskets. In our ensuite I have same corner shelf set up in the shower and a cabinet under the sink for all other stuff to be away. But I am completely anal so accept that most people aren't that fussed Grin

wonderingsoul · 17/08/2013 23:17

How the fuck did THIS get to 4 pages?

SirChenjin · 17/08/2013 23:20

Because this is MN, a weird and wonderful place Grin

mindyourownbusiness · 17/08/2013 23:20

Knocks Honeydragon to the ground with huge rolled up bath sheet and assumes first place in queue for bath @ Ifancyashandys Grin

I cant move my toiletry bottles from side of bath as it would reveal the disgusting scummy rings underneath them as I have no shelf to speak of

Elsiequadrille · 17/08/2013 23:20

We have huge pump dispensers of shower gel and shampoo/conditioner, on the bath (usually hidden behind shower screen). Other toiletries in the bathroom cupboard.

We don't have a shelf (honestly). And they'd look far sillier on the ledge, I'll have you know! I like the ledge free from bottles.

Itsaboatjack · 17/08/2013 23:20

I've got two bathrooms, neither has a shelf or ledge. I do have a wheeley thing with drawers though, but mostly things are just left on the side of the bath or shower floor.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/08/2013 23:23

Leave the bastards

doorbellringer · 17/08/2013 23:24

Why oh why is no one using a shower tidy to keep them in? I just don't understand why there needs to be bottles on ledges or anywhere else? [stamps feet until someone answers]

Monty27 · 17/08/2013 23:28

As an experiment I just ran a bath and took the stuff off the sides. then I removed the sides of the bath.

Now look what you've done you vipers! Shock

FatPenguin · 17/08/2013 23:33

Doorbellringer- I have a shower tidy! No bottles on the side of the bath/shelf/ledge in my bathroom oh no.
Well, until OH has a shower, uses his stuff and leaves the bottles dotted around the bath as if to annoy me fucker how hard is it to put stuff back??

WafflyVersatile · 17/08/2013 23:34

I have a fancy shelf. I keep stuff on it. and I keep stuff on the side of the bath.

I really thought at this age I had found out all the things about me that were wrong.

It seems I was wrong to think that. So that's two more wrong things to add to the list of shame.

Nocturtle · 17/08/2013 23:34

I like to decant the unused liquid, wash the empty bottles in distilled water and then sterilise before returning the shampoo. Clingfilm is a handy tool for keeping the bottle sealed until next time if you think heat-sealing is too anal.

Famzilla · 17/08/2013 23:34

OP are you the crazy mother of my first boyfriend?

She had this ridiculously posh roll top bath in her ridiculously posh house which was always spotless. I accidentally left the toothpaste out one day and heard ex bf being subjected to a shitfit and myself being banned to stay during the week as she "didn't need all this extra housework when she was at work all week" (she was a part time TA).

This is the same woman who used to insist you never fill you bath more than 3" and once it was drained you had to sit in it and drip dry, so as not to let the towels get unnecessarily wet.

It's you isn't it?

FatPenguin · 17/08/2013 23:35

Op yanbu. But then I am a bit extreme in my bathroom tidyness. Our cabinet has 3 little shelves on which I keep jo malone soaps etc that are just there to look nice.

UniS · 17/08/2013 23:36

Cake have some and relax a little.

Nellelephant · 17/08/2013 23:36

I don't even have a bath!

doorbellringer · 17/08/2013 23:38

Thank you fat penguin I feel much better now!
I was starting to wonder if I was odd for not putting things around the bath! Grin
Yup same here with dh, seems incapable of replacing anything or, even worse, he puts empty bottles in it! Death by water torture seems reasonable to me.

breatheslowly · 17/08/2013 23:39

If you care that much then you need your own bathroom so that you don't have to share with someone who will leave stuff in "the wrong place". If you really cared enough you would work two jobs and all the overtime available to be able to afford your own bathroom. Therefore I can only conclude that you don't actually care as much as you are suggesting.

PenguinBear · 17/08/2013 23:40

There are 6 of us in our house... The side of our bath is full of various shampoos, bubble bath, shower gels etc not to mention toys. I haven't seen the side of my bath in years!

HoneyDragon · 17/08/2013 23:41

I asked first!

FatPenguin · 17/08/2013 23:45

Doorbell- yes, next time he leaves shampoo on the side of the bath I will threaten to water board him.

How do you all clean your baths with bottles etc everywhere? Please don't say you clean around them

sydlexic · 18/08/2013 00:57

I don't like the bottles to be seen. I put them in the cupboards. I want my house to look perfect.

I don't think it is unreasonable for others to keep their bottles on the side of their baths. They can even keep fairy liquid on the window ledge in the kitchen if they really want to, though I have never understood how they can sleep at night.

waddlecakes · 18/08/2013 01:05

quite pleb like to still be using bottles in 2013 tbh. i use wall-fitted crystal decanters.

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/08/2013 01:12

We don't have any bottles around our bath, we have ONE bottle of whatever brand of shampoo is cheap and we ALL wash our bodies and hair with it.

The rest of the bath sides are decorated and redecorated regularly with playmobile people and their boats.

diamond211 · 18/08/2013 01:13

Bloody hell, there is always something new to go to bed worrying about!
