The other day I left a public loo without washing my hands. This is because my daughter is terrified of the driers and ran out before I could even get to a basin. I had to hurtle after her babbling as I went about mummy getting a wipe for her hands when we got back to the bag. The babbling was for the benefit of the crowd in the loos so they didn't think I was really yucky.
I did then use an anti bacterial wipe thingy once we got back to the bags. As did DD.

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 16:23

But maybe that would attract more pervs than outrage.

Ok, how about I only shower on a Sunday?

littlemog · 15/08/2013 16:32

Love KellyHopter's post about the MN 'toilet skanks' who excuse themselves from washing their hands with an array of ever more ludicrous tales. They are gross.

Soon to be followed by the 'shower twice a weekers' and the 'sleep in the day's dirty knickers' brigade.

Vom.

Bunbaker · 15/08/2013 16:38

I don't think that thinking it is disgusting to not wash your hands after using the toilet is over-reacting at all. It is bad form and unhygienic. End of.

WhiteandGreen · 15/08/2013 17:05

I often don't wash my hands after a wee. I am not more ill than the general population, nor do I make others ill. I don't see the problem.

littlemog · 15/08/2013 17:34

The problem is that you will have piss on your fingers and then you spread it everywhere. It's not that difficult to understand.

And how on earth do you KNOW that you don't make others ill?

Presumably they are blissfully ignorant of your lack of basic hygiene so won't attribute their illness to your pissy hands

I mean - the people on here who are happy to state their habits on an internet forum don't tell people this stuff in RL do they? Do they?

WipsGlitter · 15/08/2013 17:36

I never wash my hands. I manage not to pee on my hands. What are you people doing in the toilet??

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 17:42

How on earth do people manage to pee on their hands?

crazykittensmile · 15/08/2013 17:43

I'll be honest, if I'm at home and am just having a wee I hardly ever wash my hands. I only touch the toilet paper and live at home on my own. I hardly ever get unwell - I think it does my immune system good not to be washing my hands too often.

Bunbaker · 15/08/2013 17:43

Don't you wipe afterwards? Toilet roll is absorbent and porous so the germs can transfer through it.

Trazzletoes · 15/08/2013 17:45

Good job you don't have someone in your house with a compromised immune system.

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 17:46

Well I don't think wee germs transfer through the paper tbh.

Not unless you only use one sheet.

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 17:47

I don't think anyone ever got ill through wee germs.

BellaVida · 15/08/2013 17:47

If you use the toilet, you touch the lid, wipe, or at least the flush, so you wash your hands. Basic hygiene.

sonlypuppyfat · 15/08/2013 17:47

Talking about dirty my friend is a midwife and as she examined a lady she said her knickers were hard and green ugh

Balaboosta · 15/08/2013 17:51

It's just yucky. Fwiw I wash or rinse my hands after doing stuff with the kitchen cloth too. And I change it everyday and stick the old one in the washing machine.

WillyandTig · 15/08/2013 17:54

If you leave the lid open, then your toilet roll already has germs in it from flushing. Even before it touches your chuff. So you will have germs on your hands at some point, either from lifting the lid or your germified toilet roll if you don't use the lid.

littlemog · 15/08/2013 17:59

Wiping with loo roll will mean that some germs will pass on to your hands through the paper as it is porous - like it or not it is a fact.

Unless, unless...you skanks don't even wipe either.....(faints)

Trazzletoes · 15/08/2013 18:12

But surely you flush, regardless of how thick your paper is, or whether or not you leave the lid up... There's a good chance someone in your house has transferred some germs on to the flush.

GoodTouchBadTouch · 15/08/2013 18:40

Haha... I cant believe people are actually ANGRY that I don't wash my own hands after using the loo! I don't mind being called disgusting, skanky and so on, but why does anyone CARE enough to be cross about it?

I don't see whats unhygienic about it, providing you keep you loos clean. Do you all have sons and husbands who piss all over the seat or something?? Mine don't

How on Earth would you get pee on your fingers THROUGH the loo paper?? Don't you fold?? Or use a decent 3 ply??

As for the flush teaming with germs, well, if that's true, then its also true of the TAP which you hygiene freaks turn off with your clean hands, therefore re-contaminating yourselves!

GoodTouchBadTouch · 15/08/2013 18:42

Littlemog, are you at all incontinent? Cos I cant work out how you manage to get pee on your fingers through the loo paper. If you are still dribbling to that extent AFTER you have emptied your bladder, Id get it checked out

ImNotBloody14 · 15/08/2013 18:47

"There are more germs on your kitchen cloth than there are touching the toilet roll and the toilet handle! "

maybe there are on yours, but not on mine there aren't! cloth lives in bleach between uses and is washed at the end of each day in a 90 degree wash. some people clean stuff you know.

marriedinwhiteisback · 15/08/2013 19:04

Um well there are public loos where I don't let a part of my body touch anything at all as much as I can help it, including using my foot to hit the flush. I use them when I am desperate and only for a wee. They are the sort of places where I think I would have picked up even more germs from touching the tap and the basin.

DS said today that if you actually need to wash your hands after using the toilet you must be doing something wrong :). Made us laugh on a long journey though

Celadorhasacatandawaveequation · 15/08/2013 19:16

Minging, it takes hardly any time at all to wash your hands.

I'd also be worried about germs, my hands smelling & splashback Grin.

Flossie82 · 15/08/2013 19:26

Yuk imnotbloody14, there is no need for that much bleach. Id rather be exposed to wee germs than excessive bleech
