Weener · 15/08/2013 15:11

well if I am preparing food for people then I obvs wash my hands first. and all my kitchen stuff is clean!

smallfaces · 15/08/2013 15:12

I'm a student nurse, the slides we see in lectures on stuff like this... Infection control!!!! Yabu

Weener · 15/08/2013 15:13

ShatnersBassoon yes to both of the above! (well less likely the parcel as I tend not to answer the door if I am not expecting someone but anyway)...

Like I say, if I am ever with people I do. it's just that when it's just me I frequently can't be arsed. Especially during the night as if I spend too long being awake in the middle of the night then I can't get back to sleep which, as a long-time insomniac, is something I wish to avoid where possible!

Weener · 15/08/2013 15:13

ok maybe I am rank then Blush

captainmummy · 15/08/2013 15:15

I was in a public toilet yesterday when a girl came out and left straightaway without washing her hands. I evben commented on it to the rest of the queue! Yuk

And i have an ensuite and wee about 3 times a night (it's my age) but don't flush, as it wakes the dc up. I always wash my hands after each tho - i like the smell of clean hands.

WillyandTig · 15/08/2013 15:16

How much effort does it really take to put a tap on and scrub your hands? Some mucky people on here!

smallfaces · 15/08/2013 15:24

If you tune into cbeebies just now Dr Ranj is singing a song about bugs in pee and poo.

'OP I don't either. I clean my loos obviously. I touch the flush but I don't touch the loo seat, its always up.

I am never ever sick, and the children only rarely.'

Oh that's Ok then...just the people around you who aren't immune to your germs, and happen to share a door handle or handrail...

Crinkle77 · 15/08/2013 15:43

It is rather disgusting. The amount of people that just give their hands a swill under water. Like that is going to get rid of germs. Then they touch the door handle and leave their germs there too so I have to be OCD and use my sleeve to open the door. The only time I don't wash my hands is if I get up at night to use the loo but I will wash them first thing in the morning when I get up.

Whogivesashit · 15/08/2013 15:46

Wash yer hands ya dirty bastards!!!

sonlypuppyfat · 15/08/2013 15:49

My DM doesn't believe in germs I make them up! We've had quite a few chats on this subject Hmm

drudgewithagrudge · 15/08/2013 15:50

When I was a child the loo was something nasty in the wood shed, and I mean nasty. Imagine the scene. Drudge takes a torch and ventures out to the shed in the pitch dark, completes her mission and then returns to the scullery, lights the fire or prods the range according to season to boil a kettle to wash her hands, chucks water out on garden and returns to her little bed. All accomplished in about an hour.

How did we survive in those days. I played in the farmyard amongst the cow mess and even survived having a dead relation in the front room for a week before their funeral. We got measles and chickenpox but you never heard of anyone having a' virus'. Never had food poisoning or tummy bugs we were tougher then. The human race will be killed off by hygiene.

angelos02 · 15/08/2013 15:51

Isn't it true that there are more germs on the average desk that a toilet seat? 99% sure I haven't made this up

WillyandTig · 15/08/2013 15:52

Probably because of all the dirty bastards not washing their hands angelos

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 15:57

We had an outside toilet, up the yard.

No nice cosy bathroom to wash your hands in when I was a lass.

We survived.

fieldfare · 15/08/2013 16:00

It's disgusting.

Just wash your hands for goodness sake.

Bunbaker · 15/08/2013 16:01

"there are many people who are worst than me"

That's a pathetic excuse. What other people do is irrelevant. Other people beat their children up, but it doesn't make it OK for me to slap my daughter.

Not washing hands after using the toilet is unhygienic and downright lazy, and toilet roll is absorbent and therefore porous. Washing hands doesn't take long FGS.

littlemog · 15/08/2013 16:05

there are many people who are worst(sic) than me

So you are disgusting and lack basic hygiene standards but there are people that are even more disgusting and unhygienic than you in the world.....big deal. Wash your hands after every trip to the loo whether you are tired or it's the middle of the night or whatever. It should be automatic.

KellyElly · 15/08/2013 16:08

That's a pathetic excuse. What other people do is irrelevant. Other people beat their children up, but it doesn't make it OK for me to slap my daughter. Good analogy Grin

Some brilliant overreactions on here as always Grin Grin

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 16:11

The outrage on this thread is making me laugh Grin

I'm sure OP knew what she was letting herself in for though.

grumpyoldbat · 15/08/2013 16:12

Op, we did an experiment at Uni which showed that microbes can pass through toilet paper.

I always wash my hands.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 15/08/2013 16:12

Mhm I'm sure she did...

PumpkinPie2013 · 15/08/2013 16:13

YABU! Eww! I hate the thought of people touching things if they haven't washed their hands after using the toilet.

Part of the reason I hate using public loos is because I'm terribly neurotic touching the door handle on the way out makes me cringe as I know people will have touched without having washed their hands.

usualsuspect · 15/08/2013 16:20

Some people just know how to push them MN outraged buttons.
