I don't know why, but spaghetti just tastes the best. A good old spag Bol. Not with penne or pasta shells or bows. Spaghetti it must be.

YABU. Linguine is even better. It's like slightly squashes spaghetti and the sauce really clings to it. I like the Cecco stuff best as it has a lovely texture and flavour.

I agree, it has to be spaghetti, the other pasta shapes just don't take on the same sauciness and taste a bit bland.

oh yes the De Cecco stuff is great, that and Barilla is what italian restaurants use.

Tagliatelle is much much better with bol than spag. (Tag-bol?)

Fettucine or linguine is my new preferred bol accompaniment. It definitely shouldn't be shapes - penne is just wrong. You don't want anything where bits of mince or onion can get embedded within the body of the pasta (that's possibly the ponciest thing I've ever written).

spaghetti doesn't hold the ragu well. You either want something with ridges - like penne, or something wide and ribbony, like tagliatelli.

Spaghetti with bolognese is so English! As pp said it should be tagliatelle. And the way you dump it on top of plain spaghetti, so wrong! Mix the pasta into the ragu in the pan to coat it properly, otherwise its revolting.

We're rocking with fusili lunghi at the moment, great for holding onto sauce!

Tagliatelle always makes me think of tape worms, so I can't eat it.
