It's really really upset me, I've had some great support on this forum but I think I have to be off.

Such a shame.

OP posts:

nancy - 'fragile little flowers like the op' yeah fucking twatty bitch, getting upset by child rape, jesus what an over sensitive idiot Hmm

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 22:01

So according to the posters on this thread, the people recently threatened with rape and bombs on the net should not have gone to the police / the police shouldn't investigate.

If someone says they raped another person, that needs looking into. If someone says they were raped by another person, that needs looking into. This is basic stuff, surely?

I don't know if any of you read the recent piece in the Independent about the US military and rape, but it was horrendous. And we know bad things have happened with the UK armed forces as well, people have been done for stuff. To turn a blind eye to it is wrong IMO. If someone says they have committed a rape, then that needs investigating, it just does.

Nancy66 · 13/08/2013 22:02

Report it then.

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:03

Those nobbers off Twatter currently getting prosecuted for making rape threats to women...I expect they were just "kidding" or summat

If they can be prosecuted, why not the fucking inadequates who spout shit like this elsewhere ?

make it high profile...watch them melt away like the ghosts of actual people they are

it takes one person to make an official complaint against an individual...this is what it comes down to. Individuals thinking they are cleverer than the system, cleverer than the law. Make an example of a few of these twats, why the hell not ? A few less misogynists having a voice is fine by me.

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:05

Ok NiceTabard

Personally, I prefer to go by that trifling little inconvenient thing called 'Habeas Corpus'.

Sure, some soldiers have been found guilty of some despicable acts.

Like I said... Happens in all walks of life though and bashing one group of people distracts from the issue sometimes IMO.

Child rape is a good example. When was the last time a soldier was found guilty of that?

How about a civilian?

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:08

MrsBW, we are not talking about "hypothetical" people who have admitted to doing "hypothetical" things

we are talking about real people, traceable people who say they have done atrocious things

if one of these people walked into a police station and confessed to raping a child, would they be ignored, or would it be investigated and if there was a case to answer (even if was wasting police time and it was all macho bravado after all) then so be it

Boreoff · 13/08/2013 22:09

Why do arrse allow this on their site? It should be reported to the police.

All armed forces should not be judged by the vile acts of a few and anyone proven to have done these things should be jailed. I do agree that this needs dealing with.

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:09

BTW...I'm in agreement with some of you. If someone says, in a public forum, they've broken the law, they should be tracked down and questioned.

I just don't believe they're necessarily guilty.

Too many boys trying to show off, you see (in this instance...not saying it's just men that 'brag' on the net)...

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:10

Yup, anyfucker... See my latest.

usualsuspect · 13/08/2013 22:10

No decent person would want to be associated with a website like that surely.

I mean if MN allowed oh so hilarious rape jokes and dismissed them as gallows humour, would you stick around.

Because I sure as he'll wouldn't.

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:11

the military connection is a red herring, IMO

any member of the population that bragged about doing these things publically would be viewed the same, and if giving dates, specific locations and particular examples of such behaviour it would eb taken seriously

at the minimum that person would be publically shamed for telling provocative and violence-inducing lies

LtEveDallas · 13/08/2013 22:12

Tabitha - how are films and books the same as a poster saying they raped a child? I'm not following your logic

I can't answer for Tabitha, but I see it as a poster telling a story. You don't know if it is true or not. You don't know if a story (a book, a film) is based on a true story, from the writers imagination, or from an act that the writer has committed.

I remember being horribly affected by a book (read whilst pregnant) where a baby was killed, carried around for years and eventually eaten. I mean, what sort of sick fuck thinks up stuff like that? The book was set in the past and in a war situation...maybe the author got the idea from stories he had been told about atrocities that had been committed? Or maybe it was something the author fantasised about doing? How do we know.

In the same way the author of that comment (about raping a child) could be military, or civilian. Could be making up a story or could be telling the truth. Could be telling his own story, or one that he has been told. Could be a frustrated wannabe trying to get 'in' with people he thinks are soldiers. Could be a MNer hoping to cause more controversy.

We don't know, and it's unlikely that the founders of ArRSe know either. The MODs probably don't know. Or maybe they do but think its funny to let him keep on posting.

We don't know anything

So ignore them. Ignore the site, ignore the threads, ignore the panty raids and invasions. If they are ignored they don't get any thrill out of what they are saying. By reacting and getting upset you are playing into their hands.

People like that are a bunch of nasty minded little pricks getting their rocks off on other people's upset. Don't give them the satisfaction.

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:13

Thank you.

That's all I'm sayin'...

Military shouldn't be treated differently because they're military.

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:13

for example, down at my local if some jumped up dickhead joked about some of these things, he would find himself with a fist down the back of his throat and his balls in his kitbag

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:14

..or his manbag of any denomination Smile

RabbitIssue · 13/08/2013 22:16

is ceop best place to report to?

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:17

That's a good idea RabbitIssue

Let us know what they say?

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 22:18

Panty raids? Confused I don't even know what that is.

I am saying that if someone posts on a forum that they have raped someone, that should be reported and investigated.

The same as threats of rape on forums are currently being investigated.

I don't think that sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la" whenever anyone confesses a serious crime is a terribly positive move.

RabbitIssue · 13/08/2013 22:20

LtEve - I don't think I agree. A book is fiction, this posts are coming from the standpoint that they are true (whether they are or not), we really should ignore?? It would take at most 30mins to report, surely that's better than doing nothing/ignoring it?

If you overheard someone in a pub talking about raping a child wouldn't you try to do something?

I don't get the attitude on this thread.

Especially after my rabbit thread - rabbit ill treated, should i report? unanimous yes. But you only have my word for it that a rabbit was being mistreated, i could have been making it up for the lolz Hmm So why is a child rapist post any different?

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 22:20

I'm not sure rabbit.

The thing with the threats recently is that the threatened person can report to police.

I am not sure who you go to if someone admits to rape, but you had nothing to do with it. Is CEOP for crimes against children? I'm not sure.

Isabelonatricycle · 13/08/2013 22:22

CEOP stands for Child Exploitation and Online Protection, so yes.

AnyOldFucker · 13/08/2013 22:22

I agree NT

I think it is positively unhealthy and akin to simply tutting indulgently and murmuring "well, boys will be boys, what can you do....."

RabbitIssue · 13/08/2013 22:22

will look into it tomorrow after work and report back Smile

MrsBW · 13/08/2013 22:23

Great Smile

Will look out for an update.

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 22:27

Smile rabbit

I think there is a loophole here.

If someone online confesses to something. Say they were on here and they said they were a mass murderer for eg. (Trying to think of something everyone will agree should be reported, not a minor thing like child rape). Who would that be reported to? MN - but they are responsible. Say it was a dodgier site and you 100% believed they were telling the truth? No mods. I honestly don't know what you do.

Will be interested to hear what you find tomorrow rabbit - won't be able to check in daytime as at work though Smile

Maybe you could try that non emergency police number? Is there an army complaints number? Honestly I am stumped. Still don't think the best idea is to pretend I'd never seen it though.
