It's really really upset me, I've had some great support on this forum but I think I have to be off.

Such a shame.

OP posts:
LtEveDallas · 13/08/2013 20:43

It is a crime to talk about raping a child isn't it? Or isn't it? Not trying to be a nob, seriously would like to know

Simply put, It can't be can it, otherwise numerous writers (ie published authors) would be in deep shit wouldn't they?

All websites are anon. If they weren't, if the police really took notice of things that people wrote, then all those people would have to say is 'I'm writing a book, I wanted to hear some reactions to the ideas I had" or "I'm an Internet troll that writes things for effect"

LadyB and this poster made sure the subject lingered after the goady one in SiteStuff was snaffled out., hence continuing the link to that lot.

Thoughts??

Attacking a regarded member of Mumsnet??

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 20:46

Confessing to raping a child warrants investigation, even if the confession is via the internet. In the same way that threats of rape and other serious crimes made over the internet are being investigated at the moment.

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/08/2013 20:51

I read the beginning of the thread, saw it was about ARRSE and haven't read it, just fucking ignore them.

duchessandscruffy · 13/08/2013 20:52

Sorry but I am pissing myself at the image of the Neanderthal decked out in army and navy gear wanking furiously over 'Ross kemp in Afghanistan!'

That is EXACTLY who I picture posting on that website!

countingmyblessings · 13/08/2013 20:53

If that is indeed the way some of the AF are conducting themselves while on tour, then they are a disgrace to this country imo.
It warrants criminal investigation. Misogynistic pricks.

TabithaStephens · 13/08/2013 20:55

I have several family members that are/were in the forces and I take exception to some of the views on this thread. The forces are there to keep this country safe. Those who decry them do so in safety because of the brave men and women who risk their lives on their behalf.

TabithaStephens · 13/08/2013 20:59

Right, I've just looked at this ARRSE forum and the whole section that the Kenya thread is posted on is full of ridiculous threads. It's gallows humour, nothing more.

YouStayClassySanDiego · 13/08/2013 21:01

Filee has some troubled thoughts, hope she's eaten since.

Maybe she'll feel better after food Wink

RabbitIssue · 13/08/2013 21:03

Nice and LtEve - I'm torn between your two viewpoints. No an author couldn't be prosecuted, however if you're confessing to a crime then surely it should be looked into? CEOP?

The ARSE website guys should be able to trace who these dicks are.

Feenie · 13/08/2013 21:04

Raping kids - just gallows humour?

Right.......Confused

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/08/2013 21:06

It's part of a legitimate army website, if it's full of trolls and not armed forces the moderators need to clean it up or ban it.

Wouldn't the Daily Mail love this kind of shit??

SinisterSal · 13/08/2013 21:08

Relax stayClassy now you are the one getting wound up. In fact you are the same as OP, getting overwrought about something she read on the internet. Except for her it's the rape of children , for you it's criticism of the armed forces.

TabithaStephens · 13/08/2013 21:08

Is it actually run by the armed forces?

What do you class as gallows humour Feenie?

Isabelonatricycle · 13/08/2013 21:09

LadyBeagleEyes , fairly sure it is not a "legitimate army website". You don't have to give name, rank and serial number to join/post (in the same way you don't need to send in copies of your children's birth certificates to join/post here).

Feenie · 13/08/2013 21:10

I was questioning your use of the word 'just', actually.

TabithaStephens · 13/08/2013 21:10

From Wikipedia: The Army Rumour Service (ARRSE) is an unofficial British Army website and forum.

LtEveDallas · 13/08/2013 21:11

Is it actually run by the armed forces?

No, not at all and not condoned by them. Commanders actively instruct their troops to stay off ArRSe (not that they can, legally). I have known more senior personnel be disciplined for ArRSe use.

NiceTabard · 13/08/2013 21:14

Not my understanding of gallows humour.

"Gallows humor is humor in the face of or about very unpleasant, serious, or painful circumstances. Any humor that treats serious matters, such as death, war, disease, crime, etc., in a light, silly, or satirical fashion is considered gallows humor.[1][2] Gallows humor has been described as a witticism in the face of ? and in response to ? a hopeless situation.[3] It arises from stressful, traumatic, or life-threatening situations, often in circumstances such that death is perceived as impending and unavoidable.
Gallows humor is typically made by or about the victim of such a situation, but not the perpetrator of it.[4]" from wiki.

Anyway I looked at the first couple of pages (couldn't stomach much more) and in between the cherished memories of brutalising women are stories about getting sunburnt and meeting people and going to the beach. It has the feel of people who are sharing their memories. Someone has even put a photo up of themselves sitting on the beach. Not really the feel of a big "joke" at all.

poppingin1 · 13/08/2013 21:14

If raping kids is just gallows humour, I think it actually affirms my comments.

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 13/08/2013 21:15

I read the thread this morning, saw it for what it was and didn't click again.

Perhaps the link they provided was deliberately provacative, intended to push our buttons and get a reaction?

RabbitIssue · 13/08/2013 21:15

ah - if not official then less that can be done obviously Sad
