We all know that war damages many peoples mental health because of the things they see AND HAVE TO DO in order to survive. The mind set you have in any war setting is not normal, it increases the risks of mental health problems and can lead people to do the most unbelievably inhumane things.
Of course there are paedophiles and general fuckwits and psycho's in any society. But war is such an unnatural state that it warps the mind of previously mentally healthy people.
Human rights offences come to light all the time, we have no real way of keeping track of how army personnel conduct themselves beyond secondary information. There are so many cover ups that we don't know for a fact how soldiers truly behave and stories of human rights offences come to light all the time.
And yes, many people who bomb our cities do it out of revenge, out of feeling attacked and provoked. The OP is not wrong to say that.
Look, these are my opinions. I agree with the OP and I know from experience that views against the British military are greeted with disdain on MN so I knew this would be the reaction, I don't think the OP knew this
As I said, my own family have lived through and served in wars.
