I just had the shortest date in the history of the world. He was really shy,so i tried to make small talk.... asked about his job etc... i said i had been busy with work but how it worked out ok as i had a lots of holiday and was going away in a few weeks. he asked where and i told him and then he laughed
in my face
and i asked him why he was laughing, and he said he had been to the caribean and scotland ( wtf) and all over. i told him i had lived abroad and that norfolk is very pretty.
and again he laughed then he laughed again when i said i was going in a caravan even though he has never been in a caravan
hes only done call centre work. and has been in his new job ( cold calling) for 3 months.Yet mocked my work. he is a child. said things like ' meh' and 'm'kay' and stupid stuff like that
doesnt do anythng, or go anywhere. he sat in silence and if i didnt talk it was silent.
i said ii had to check my phone as work might have called and i might haveto go back ( was checking for my get out text) and then we sat in silence for a momment and he said ' i want to go home'
and then ' i dont want to be rude but i just want to leave'
so i said ' no thats fine, bye' and left
fucking awful
surprised i didnt cry

Hm, right age...

That was going to be my next questions snail Grin

Perhaps we could set up an MN dating service where we recommend our single family members/friends and we can vouch for them not being arses!

MikeOxard · 10/08/2013 08:27

Oooooh, MN to the rescue - OP pleeeeaaaase go on a date with Shelley's brother, maybe it's meant to be, haha. You could livestream your wedding on mn if it works out! x

ASD is not a "get out of being a twat free" card.

He was a twat, no matter his "issues".

Have a good cry and wallow for a bit. And lots of chocolate and wine. Bad dates are the worst.

i dont feel bad now :)

i think it was just the shock of someone being like that and the humilation.... i was never upset about him or what he thought.. just that it was very unplesant.

have sounded off enough to get it out of my system and more than enough people have been equally shocked and horrified ...so thats helped me process it and move on.

TroublesomeEx · 10/08/2013 09:48

snail Grin

My brother's married, but if he weren't, I reckon he'd have been interested (you know, based on nothing more than your photo!)

whois · 10/08/2013 10:21

Don't be upset OP, think how much worse it would be if he wanted to go out with you again?

He sounds like a total looser. Probably still loves with mummy in a flat stinking of cats piss.

ForgetfulNameChanger · 10/08/2013 10:32

He sounds like a douche but you don't sound particularly nice either. I have shit teeth because I can't afford braces and they weren't given to me when I was younger. I have to use close mouthed pics because of people like you.

TroublesomeEx · 10/08/2013 10:35

I suspect she wouldn't have been so bothered about his teeth if he hadn't been such a monumental arse though, forgetful.

When we like someone we tend to over look their less than perfect qualities. It's only when they prove themselves to be a nasty bastard that we come up with a list of "Yeah, and they...."

No one's perfect!

watchforthesnail · 10/08/2013 10:43

i once went out with a man with terrible teeth. they were really bad, he almost had sharks teeth, because in one place there were two lines of teeth. But he was nice so i didnt have an issue with it.

My teeth arent perfect, i had braces, they are gappy.

A friend once went out on a date with a man who turned out to have no teeth. Since then ive just always been a bit warey. If you meet people in rl its fine and you wouldnt take note. But with online dating, people lie so much, and its just another of those things where it turns out to be a shock/ surprise. Its totally different if you met in real life.

OP posts:
watchforthesnail · 10/08/2013 11:03

forgetful - in fact, its not even about bad teeth and judging them, its about not being lied to. I dont much care, but he shouldnt have kept them hidden till we met.
Im a curvy fatwoman. I know not everyone will like that. I have a full lenght pic on my profile and will at somepoint when we are chatting, make some reference to the vast about of cheese i eat and that im curvy. I dont want them to turn up expecting some twig of woman when im more nigella than moss.

I'm on eharmony and I seem to only get really unappealing chaps message me. I haven't been on even one date, despite being 'online' for 6 months.

I'm 35. I think there's a shortage of decent men my age who aren't married or with ishoos. My last proper date was in 2012 with a 45 year old. Who was divorced but he had too much excess baggage tbh. I tried being more casual for a while with him but we were better off as friends. It's depressing.

Your date was an arse. I hope you're feeling better today.

I have a thing about teeth, they need to be clean and relatively straight. Really yellow with loads of gaps is a serious turn off for me. Loads of pictures with mouth closed would ring alarm bells.

pippitysqueakity · 10/08/2013 11:26

Late to the party as usual, but snail you're fine, he was not. Glad you've perked up a bit, enjoy your holiday!

pippitysqueakity · 10/08/2013 11:27

(And Velvet, arrogant you are not, gorgeous you are!)

pippitysqueakity · 10/08/2013 11:34

P.S.My DH has crap teeth, caused by smoking. He spends hours in front of the mirror, flossing and gargling etc, but the fact is until he stops smoking they are only going to get worse.
My teeth aren't great, but can still make me self conscious. It's one of those things these days I think.

watchforthesnail · 10/08/2013 11:50

teeth dont even matter. being honest does.
that was my point.

OP posts:
revolvenotevolve · 10/08/2013 11:59

I think you're gorgeous and if you're ever feelinglike a walk on the other side I would very happilydate you !

ShellyBoobs · 10/08/2013 12:39

watch - my brother's in Yorkshire.

It's a shame, but I'm sure there'll be some nice local men along soon, with MNers on the case.
