To not know what I supposedly did wrong here?

Yesterday as a huge favour to my Dsis we looked after our Dniece (8) and Dnephew (5) for the day at very short notice.

They had breakfast with us since they arrived at 7am - Toast with honey

We went to the park for a few hours

We made cupcakes and Dniece and Dnephew decorated them (took some home for mum, dad and them to eat later and ate one while they were here)

Had lunch - A sandwich, slices of pepper, cucumber, carrot and tomatoes and some pringles

Had a ride on the ponies (Dsis expects this to happen as she uses me as a free instructor and it helps keep the weight off the ponies - they came with all their riding gear)

Did some drawings. Some went on our fridge the rest were taken home

Took the dogs for a walk and had another play at the park

Had tea - Homemade pizza and homemade wedges followed by slices of banana, apple, pear, grapes and a chocolate mousse pot to dip them in

Watched UP

Dsis picked them up at 8pm two hours later than she was meant to, they were more than ready for bed. She asked what they'd had to eat and wasn't happy with the above. She also wasn't happy that they were so tired. I'm not sure why?

For a very last minute thing with just me and three children from 8-6 I think we packed a lot of fun things in

Wow your sister is ungrateful. What a lovely day you gave your DNs. You sound like a wonderful auntie.

Tweenangst · 08/08/2013 16:15

If she asks again give them a family bag of monster munch for the day and sit them in front of the tv to watch hollyoaks. What a pita she sounds.

ThisWayForCrazy · 08/08/2013 16:16

She is being unreasonable. That to me is a balanced healthy diet. On the surface honey, cakes and pizza sounds a bit much for one day, but its all homemade and not full of MSG etc. perhaps she was just tired after a long day and didn't think properly.

AdoraBell · 08/08/2013 16:16

YANBU

Sounds perfectly fine to me, where does DSis normally come on the "brazen piss taker" scale?

Yama · 08/08/2013 16:16

You have done nothing wrong.

soapysam · 08/08/2013 16:16

Agree with PolterGoose. I can be at yours by 8 with my 5 kids :D

Seriously though, ignore her. How incredibly rude and ungrateful!

thornrose · 08/08/2013 16:17

You did nothing wrong, absolutely nothing.

If anyone comes on this thread and says otherwise I will know that the world has gone mad Grin

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 08/08/2013 16:17

She sounds lovely.

You did a fab job by the sounds of it.

A day with me as a favour (starting at 7am! in the holidays!) would have involved a lot less outdoorsy fun and homemade baking and a lot more telly I expect

Redlocks30 · 08/08/2013 16:17

I'd have to ring her and ask if there was a problem! If she says there is, say, 'I'm sorry you feel that way; next time you want 13 hours of free childcare at the last minute, feel free to ask someone else.'

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 08/08/2013 16:17

Yup.

She's an arse.

Gets you out of ever having to babysit ever again though, doesn't it?

Wink
ExitPursuedByABear · 08/08/2013 16:17

Oh goodness tell her to do one next time she asks. What is it with some people?

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 08/08/2013 16:17

YY next time they get McDonalds and their own bodyweight in Haribo.

BadSpeakingSkills · 08/08/2013 16:18

Tweenangst Grin that did make me laugh !

Your sister is being an arse.

Canidae · 08/08/2013 16:18

Dsis is very ungrateful. What would they normally eat at home?

I will be coming over tomorrow for a wonderful day of cakes and dogs and ponies!

Redlocks30 · 08/08/2013 16:18

Who normally looks after them?

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 08/08/2013 16:18

Sounds like you had a lovely day, and pizza/cake is a treat - Which often happens on a day with relatives and is fine as as long as it's not every single day. She should be pleased her kids are tired and not bouncing off the walls demanding attention! Honestly.

I would've said "I did the best I could at very short notice" and leave it at that. Next time think twice about saying yes to favours if she's going to be like that! YANBU.

toomuchtoask · 08/08/2013 16:20

It does sound like a lot of crap to eat in one day: sugary honey, pizza, chocolate moose, pringles and cupcake.

As a one off that would be fine though. She should be more grateful that you gave them a nice day.

MintyChops · 08/08/2013 16:20

Some people are never happy, your DSis sounds like one of them.

anklebitersmum · 08/08/2013 16:21

Err, they were up early, had a long day, she didn't pick them up until bedtime and she has the cheek to whinge about what they've eaten and how tired they are Confused

Cheek of the devil springs to mind Shock

Patchouli · 08/08/2013 16:21

She heard: "blah blah blah....honey....blah blah blah....cakes...blah blah...pringles....blah blah blah....pizza and chocolate"

Take no notice.

gaggiagirl · 08/08/2013 16:21

You did nothing wrong, she should be bloody grateful, and yes I'll drop DD at your house in the morning thanks very much!

Flobbadobs · 08/08/2013 16:22

Sounds like a good day to me!
You did nothing wrong at all as far às I can see.

blueemerald · 08/08/2013 16:22

Did she need emergency childcare because she had to go and do something difficult or unpleasant? If so, maybe she was just tired and stressed out; otherwise she is definitely an arse.

MrsKeithRichards · 08/08/2013 16:22

Can I come tomorrow?
