To be thinking of going round and slapping this mother if the police don't hurry up and get here?

My neighbour is physically and verbally abusing her daughter, and i mean really badly.

I've just listened to her screaming at the poor kid in the garden and telling her 'you're a useless cunt just like your fucking father, that's why he left you' then there was a massive thwack noise and i looked out the window in time to see her dragging the child in by the hair, there's what looks like blood on the patio, when they got indoors the mother carried on screaming at the child and there have been a few thumping noises followed by screams. I've called the police but they aren't here yet and the child is still crying, it's heart breaking.

Poor kid is only 2! She can't have done anything so terrible as to deserve that!

It's so heartbreaking OP, but you did the right thing as soon as you realised and we have to hope and pray she is well looked after in the future. All the very best to you after a difficult evening. (Wine) (flowers)

AnotherStitchInTime · 31/07/2013 22:51

Well done OP, there is no more you can do. When you witnessed the abuse you acted by calling the Police and going round there. You couldn't have known :( It is in the hands of the professionals now, hopefully she will get the love and support she needs.

Wrong brackets - Wine Flowers !

SoleSource · 31/07/2013 22:56

well done

at two years age the damage is reversible and I hope the little girl gets the proper love and care all children deserve.

magimedi · 31/07/2013 22:57

Well done, OP -that must have been really tough butr you did do the right thing.

Who else was going to help that poor child?

Flowers
maddening · 31/07/2013 23:02

well done op- you may have saved that little girl's life today - possibly even in the time you went round and distracted the mother.

libertine73 · 31/07/2013 23:03

Well done for acting op.

It's heartbreaking though, I hope this poor baby has a happy ending (trying to be hopeful)

SamHamwidge · 31/07/2013 23:24

Well done OP. One thing that stood out to me was that despite her aggression you kept the mum on the doorstep talking. It must have been very disturbing and frightening but you stood up for that child and as other posters have said, may have saved her life.

Trigglesx · 31/07/2013 23:36

yes, well done keeping the mum talking and away from the child. glad you were there for her.

Cuddlydragon · 31/07/2013 23:51

You did a good thing today OP. You should be proud of yourself for having the courage to intervene. I hope the little mite is ok.

ChippingInHopHopHop · 31/07/2013 23:58

She's 2 :( Poor little love. The only 'good thing' (if you can even use that phrase here) is that being so little, hopefully she wont understand or remember what her mother said - she wont believe it, because it wont mean anything to her really.

Joining the long line of MNers wanting to scoop her up and take her home :(

NonnoMum · 01/08/2013 00:01

OP - that was a brave thing you did tonight. Thank you for stepping in. Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight...

M0naLisa · 01/08/2013 00:13

You did a brave thing. Well Done Flowers

Tiredmumno1 · 01/08/2013 00:16

I agree with everyone else, you were very brave by going around to distract her. You did help that poor little girl, just remember that. Hopefully she will be taken at put with a family where she will be happy.

Brew < hot choccy for you

Tiredmumno1 · 01/08/2013 00:17

and not at

TerraNotSoFirma · 01/08/2013 00:22

Well done OP.
Poor wee lassie, I hope she's okay now.

elnombreee · 01/08/2013 00:36

it's staggering that people don't believe the OP. What kind of cotton wool lives have you lived?? Think yourselves lucky if things seem unbelievable to you. It's horrible how people cry troll on DV threads, or things like this. Of course regulars will namechange when it's a personal matter or something identifiable. These things happen all too often Sad I think the OP deserves massive Thanks

Valdeeves · 01/08/2013 00:57

Well done OP - there needs to be more people like you out there!
Am I thick? I don't understand why Olivia came online - where was the naughty bit!??

desertgirl · 01/08/2013 01:03

The naughty bit was people claiming the OP was making it up, which you are not supposed to do (you can report to MNHQ)

SoleSource · 01/08/2013 01:44

elnombree exactly!

Secretswitch · 01/08/2013 02:27

You may well have saved a life, Op. You are to be commended..

The thing is - even if this wasn't true - someone reading it may find themselves in the same situation and intervene for another child. I'd want to always err on the side of caution in DV cases - as long as you aren't giving away personal information or investing too much of yourself.

It's hard not to be sceptical on MN these days, with there having been so many emotionally vampiric trolls.

parkin2010 · 01/08/2013 10:19

Well done OP. people talking shit about trolls need to get a sense of priorities in a thread such as this.

oldgrandmama · 01/08/2013 10:34

Good - well done. Pity someone like you didn't intervene in the case of that poor little Polish boy, murdered by his vile mother and stepfather.
