To be thinking of going round and slapping this mother if the police don't hurry up and get here?

My neighbour is physically and verbally abusing her daughter, and i mean really badly.

I've just listened to her screaming at the poor kid in the garden and telling her 'you're a useless cunt just like your fucking father, that's why he left you' then there was a massive thwack noise and i looked out the window in time to see her dragging the child in by the hair, there's what looks like blood on the patio, when they got indoors the mother carried on screaming at the child and there have been a few thumping noises followed by screams. I've called the police but they aren't here yet and the child is still crying, it's heart breaking.

Poor kid is only 2! She can't have done anything so terrible as to deserve that!

You've done a really good thing, I am glad you updated OP.

Joanne279 · 31/07/2013 18:23

Ring the police again. X

almostamrs · 31/07/2013 18:23

well done op

insancerre · 31/07/2013 18:24

hopefully the police will call an ambulance and get the child checked at the hospital
well done op
I am not sure that I would ahve been brave enough to have gone round and confronted the mother
hope she is not the vindictive type

Tee2072 · 31/07/2013 18:26

This is why willy nilly name changing is a problem. No one believes you when you do it and then post something like this.

I hope to god it's not true. But if it is, I hope to god the police have taken the child away.

Justforlaughs · 31/07/2013 18:26

Sadly scenes like this are still a reality these days, and we all need to be prepared to stand up and be counted if we see anything untoward. When there is a story on the news about a 4 yo starved and beaten to death I would believe anything, and would prefer to believe a made up story/ thread than ignore a real incident. Sad

YouTheCat · 31/07/2013 18:27

That poor kid.

RandallPinkFloyd · 31/07/2013 18:27

I doubt that tbh. I'm not sure, even if you weren't thinking straight, you'd take the time to nc as well as starting a thread. But who knows?

Not for us to decided who is and isn't genuine, that's up to HQ. If the OP is a regular though she'll completely understand. No point at all cluttering up the thread with bickering and conjecture.

The situation is being dealt with, that's all that matters.

MrsBungle · 31/07/2013 18:27

What a terrible state of affairs. I hope they remove that child tonight. :(

GiddyStars · 31/07/2013 18:28

Well done OP. If there was blood one would hope the police would remove the child immediately before further investigations.

ArghFFS · 31/07/2013 18:31

The mother has been arrested and the police called a paramedic as the child looks like she has hit her head, they didn't tell me what would happen after the child had been checked over but I'm hoping ss will put her in care at least while the police investigate.

I'm hoping as the police said they'd need a full statement that they'll be able to tell me how the poor kid is doing then, although I don't know if thy are allowed to?

Randall, yes I can see how it would look suspicious MN does appear to attract a few trolls.

Good on you for standing up for that child xx

onepieceoflollipop · 31/07/2013 18:33

I sometimes wish that there could be a system re name changing, maybe that mnhq could have some code or something to reassure everyone on threads that the op is genuine and has a "MN approved" name change!
(However there are loads of reasons against this that I probably haven't thought of!)
MN know who we all are anyway. And in a truly emergency situation most of us call the emergency services so having to possibly wait would be inconvenient rather than anything else.

mayoandchips · 31/07/2013 18:33

Good one, OP. You did the right thing

LifeIsSoDifferent · 31/07/2013 18:34

Omg that's terrible! I hope their there now!!

StraightJacket · 31/07/2013 18:34

Poor child Sad hope they keep them away from the mother for good! She sounds dreadful!

Well done! I hope to god the S'S do something!

This is another babyP waiting to happen! Who could batter a 2yo?

Poor thing!

onepieceoflollipop · 31/07/2013 18:37

fwiw MissS I think it is more complex than that. Some of us post to give the benefit of the doubt just in case the person does need support. On occasion I have been concerned that others are giving out sensitive information and haven't considered the poster may not be genuine.

Seenenoughtoknow · 31/07/2013 18:38

Well done ArghFFS - that poor poor child...you might have saved her life xx

TallGiraffe · 31/07/2013 18:38

Do you have anyone with you OP, you must be pretty shaken up Flowers

Glad the paramedics are seeing the baby.

RandallPinkFloyd · 31/07/2013 18:39

It does indeed!

Glad the police are dealing with it so well. Tbh I doubt they'll be able to give you much info on what will happen to the child going forward but if you're giving a statement you'll know if the mother is charged and I'm sure they'll let you know the little girl is ok health wise.

flowerandrandd · 31/07/2013 18:40

well done op, how utterly awful for that child and for you, think you deserve a big bar of chocolate tonight and maybe a brandy, your intervention may have saved that little girl, be proud momma! x

jacks365 · 31/07/2013 18:40

I was involved with a similar situation a few years ago when I worked for ss and the police took the child into protective custody and placed the child with ss while ss applied for a court order.
