To let dd wee in the sea?

I have never done it and in my pre baby days would have thought it terrible!

Fast forward to an isolated beach dd1 (3) in the sea needs a wee and I just took one look at picking up all my gear, drying her off, trecking to find a loo that probably filters straight to the sea and wrestling her back into a damp cossie, all while holding baby dd2 and told her to just wee in the sea.

When DH arrived and she proudly told him her special sea wee treat he said I WBU to let her.

So who IBU?

I've weed in the sea loads of times!

Keztrel · 31/07/2013 15:33

Weeing in the sea is one of life's great pleasures!

Capitola · 31/07/2013 15:33

Who does that surreptitious wafting of bikini gusset after a wee?

I like to think it's not obvious..

AhCmonSeriouslyNow · 31/07/2013 15:35

Oh thank goodness, I opened this thread with slight trepidation that everyone would be saying "ooh yuk, don't wee in the sea!"

I guess it is polite to try to wee a little bit away from any other people.

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 31/07/2013 15:37

I sort of waft water around my nethers whilst still in the water. Like a little jacuzzi for my under carriage, lovely!

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 31/07/2013 15:39

and slowly tread water away from the scene of the crime whilst looking very aloof...

Notafoodbabyanymore · 31/07/2013 15:40

Yes, ambergris is whale vomit, not whale sperm or whale poo.

And OP, YWNBU, your DH was. Everyone wees in the sea, it's awesome.

nenevomito · 31/07/2013 15:41

There's nowt wrong with a wee in the sea.

FreckleyGirlAbroad · 31/07/2013 15:41

Omg.....I've seen it all on MN now. I really don't think you'll find anyone here who thinks YABU. I am like someone else who said I go in the Sea on purpose to wee... the warm feeling is great! Compared to the rest of the crap around the world that gets dumped in the sea, a bit of dc's pee is not even going to register.

Like many sensible, normal people have already said, it's miles more hygienic for your DC than to tip-toeing into the horrid public loos and hovering over a filthy seat.

quoteunquote · 31/07/2013 15:43

I have to say that it is perfectly fine to wee in the sea, all the sewage goes in there anyway.

but as a surfer and keen water sports person I do have say I have never had a wee in any of my wetsuits, not once, in thirty odd years of surfing.

one it knackers the wet suit then they rub, and don't last long.

two it make them smell,

and three I am not keen on sitting in my own wee.

BeKindToYourKnees · 31/07/2013 15:44

Does anyone else make the 'I'm not really doing a wee' face?

Wuldric · 31/07/2013 15:45

'But Madame,' he wailed in genuine anguish, 'what for you want a bathroom? Have you not got the sea?'

Yama · 31/07/2013 15:47

I remember once getting to a beach on the Amalfi coast, running into the sea to do a much needed pee and being unable. I was gutted.

DH was shat on by Dolphins last year when we were scuba diving in Mauritius. Dolphin shit stinks. Wee is nothing compared to that!

stripeyspots · 31/07/2013 15:50

I wee in the sea but my dp was also disgusted that I told ds to wee in the sea.

BrainSurgeon · 31/07/2013 15:50

Uuurgh no no no, poo in the sea is wrong. Confused

hellsbellsmelons · 31/07/2013 15:52

Your DH needs to chill.
It's fine to wee in the sea.
Show him this thread - it's almost 100% in favour!
Wee is sterile anyway after your first one of the day.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 31/07/2013 15:57

Wouldn't occur to me not to wee in the sea.

Its just a drop in the ocean.

YANBU

ReluctantBeing · 31/07/2013 16:03

I like a sea wee.

happygirl87 · 31/07/2013 16:05

Ahh, this is the first totally unanimous MN AIBU I've ever seen!

KellyElly · 31/07/2013 16:05

I'm sure there's worse in the sea than a bit of wee! DD was playing in a stream the other day and asked to go to the loo and I said just wee in there. Total normal!

Beehatch · 31/07/2013 16:14

Sailing boats flush out their foul tanks once under way - though they tend to do it well away from shore.

A sailing friend of mine enjoys going for a naked swim when he needs to poo Confused I have pressed upon him how grim this is, but he thinks it makes little difference as it would all end up in the sea anyway, even if he used the head on board. He calls it 'swimming with the turd fish' Shock

KurriKurri · 31/07/2013 16:18

I think weeing in the sea is fine - it all ends up there anyway!

But as a note of caution, I'm sure I saw on a documentary about shark attacks, channel five, 'When Sharks Go Mad' that sharks are attracted to wee and can sniff out infinitesimal amounts of it.
They talked to a teenage surfer who had been attacked a couple of times - turns out he was always weeing in the water.

Something to bear in mind if you ever go abroad and want to indulge in a bit of marine pissing.

haggisaggis · 31/07/2013 16:20

Weeing in wet suits when scuba diving is recognised as a way of keeping warm on a cold day! Doesn't work in a drysuit though.
