To let dd wee in the sea?

I have never done it and in my pre baby days would have thought it terrible!

Fast forward to an isolated beach dd1 (3) in the sea needs a wee and I just took one look at picking up all my gear, drying her off, trecking to find a loo that probably filters straight to the sea and wrestling her back into a damp cossie, all while holding baby dd2 and told her to just wee in the sea.

When DH arrived and she proudly told him her special sea wee treat he said I WBU to let her.

So who IBU?

But then the OP sounds uptight too as she said

"I have never done it and in my pre baby days would have thought it terrible!"

FreckledLeopard · 31/07/2013 15:16

Everyone wees in the sea. Why on earth wouldn't you Confused?

BadgersNadgers · 31/07/2013 15:16

Have you seen the size of whale poo? A three year old's wee is nothing.

squoosh · 31/07/2013 15:16

That's true OP and DH must be well suited, or at least were, until she gave into her filthy 'wee in the sea' ways.

WorraLiberty · 31/07/2013 15:16

I remember the last time I went to Walton Peir

There were fishermen peeing off the end of it, into the sea!

AugustaProdworthy · 31/07/2013 15:17

It's fine to wee in the sea but don't pee in the pool.

squoosh · 31/07/2013 15:17

Is it solidified whale sperm that is ultra, ultra valuable?

Crinkle77 · 31/07/2013 15:17

YANBU. I would imagine the sea is full of wee, poo and god knows what else. I just used to do it then swim away quick when I was a kid

meddie · 31/07/2013 15:17

I thought you only went in the sea for a wee swim

MrsMelons · 31/07/2013 15:18

I told my kids to wee in the sea as the toilets are vile, I did make it very clear they must not poo though Grin

DS2 wee'd on the stones once but then came home and wee'd in the garden too in fron tof everyone as we had beach shingle there too Blush

Capitola · 31/07/2013 15:18

We always wee in the sea. Sometimes in our wetsuits.

WhatHo · 31/07/2013 15:19

worra they sort of bubble around then dissipate.

Well you did ask Grin

Oh DS2 had a wee in his swimming lesson once when he was 2, it was so embarrassing as when his teacher called him to come to over to swim he said 'wait I'm having a wee'!

RobotHamster · 31/07/2013 15:21

He does know that sewage gets pumped into the sea right?

WhatHo · 31/07/2013 15:21

squoosh I think you're confusing sperm oil - which comes out of a whale's head - with sperm sperm. I don't recommend you getting hold of a ton of whale sperm and trying to sell it on.

Could be a bit messy.

GibberTheMonkey · 31/07/2013 15:22

You've probably worn sperm whale poo. It's ambergris and is valuable. They tend to use it in perfumes

BeKindToYourKnees · 31/07/2013 15:22

And you don't need a wetsuit to get that lovely, warm feeling

GrimmaTheNome · 31/07/2013 15:23

Of course its ok. Its not as though you can drink sea water.

We rafted down the Grand Canyon ...they had portaloos but as they had to remove all waste therein we were told to pee in the river (women went upstream, blokes downstream, behind rocks) - into the water as would be stinky if you did it on the shore.

I'm pretty sure that urine is normally quite sterile - its been through the filtration system of the kidneys.

squoosh · 31/07/2013 15:24

Grin Slightly messy trying to coax a tidal wave of whale sperm out! Wee in the sea would pale in comparison.

Anyway I've googled, apparently solidified whale vomit is extremely valuable. It's used in perfume making and is worth $10,000 per pound!

farewellfigure · 31/07/2013 15:28

In Greece they call weeing in the sea 'flushing'. Ie 'Just popping into the sea for a flush'. Or maybe that's just my sister-in-law's family that say it. Don't quote me on that. Anyway, of course it's not weird. If Greek people do it on their beautiful white sand beaches, then it's definitely fine in the UK on our dog poo infested, floaty tampon, seaweed scum beaches

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 31/07/2013 15:29

I love weeing in the sea.
I love that nobody knows you're doing it, your head's above water, body underneath!
Relief without sitting on the toilet (where else can this be achieved?)
I can't wait until I let my dd have her first sea wee!

YANBU
