To think Blackpool is a bit shit

Just came back from Blackpool and it was utter shit. Why haven't the council there made improvements and made it a decent place to visit?

There is hardly anywhere halfway reasonable to eat, it looks completely broken and unloved. There is just so much potential for development and it could be the "Orlando" of England. Instead, it's just shite.

I've come away thinking I don't need to take my children to Africa to appreciate what they've got: just take them to Blackpool.

On a good note, the beach is very nice. Shame about the drunks weeing all over the stairs to the beach and leaving beer cans everywhere. I saw broken Britain in Blackpool and I shall never go back again.

Blackpool is a shithole.

Half a day for the illuminations was as much as I could bear when the DC's were small.

It's a bloody disgrace considering the money the council must rake in. Dirty, overflowing bins, stinks, disgusting toilets.

My DM went on a ride out to Blackpool with a bunch of her biker friends, they got attacked by a stag do with loads of squirty bottles of mayonnaise. They must've been extremely drunk to think it would be a good idea to do it to bikers but I doubt they found it so amusing in the morning....

I live in the "shit hole" . The surrounding areas are fab. St Anne's beach is fantastic. The town centre is hellish in the season but I stay away and so do most of the locals. There are some lovely parks, fabulous zoo and I never tire of something to do with ds. There are lovely places only a couple of miles away from the scum. It's not all that bad. Just stay away from the " kiss me quick" area.

Blackpool has been shite for many years - not really news to me I'm afraid to say!

As a child of the sixties we went a few time to St Anne's and just went into Blackpool for a few specific visits, e.g. the tower circus or the pleasure beach.

St Anne's was a much nicer place!

Well I have been to Morecambe often and we loved it. I guess it might have changed in over forty years though. My brother reliably informs me that Rhyl has changed since the sixties too though.

Fuck Kent. I went on holiday there once. New Romney. Beach of shite and views of a power station.

I think the beach is lovely and has really been improved.

However the rest of it is horrendous - they've cashed in on the hen/stag shite and it has ruined the place. Getting a cup of tea at 11am surrounded by half pissed stags and hens put me off Blackpool for a good few years.

Formby is teh shit! I love it. I'm from Liverpool originally but I live in Southport now and regularly visit Formby.

Has anyone been to Skegness? That always makes me laugh, the name, Skeggy.

tanfastic not too far away myself and agree its the centre that's shite but the council should sort it out. Blackpool council should hang their heads in shame. But I guess the sort of people that walk around at midnight with a baby in one arm and a bottle of Stella in the other, or have a shag in broad daylight, love it. (Seen both)

Lots of lovely areas around (Cleveleys has gone down IMO- sad)' like St Anne's and Lytham.

I had to go to Southport the other day. It was a shit hole. A beach that is also a massive carpark - and is MILES from the sea - is never a good thing. Shan't be heading back.
