To think dogs are..

Great Grin

I love my dog, I walk her on the beach and off her lead in the park. I let small children pet her. She eats food off leftover plates and I don't care because she is such a positive, enriching part of my life.

So much dog hate on AIBU recently. I just wanted to spread a bit of smelly, furry, drooly love.

Shellyboobs can you stop trying to bring the positive tone of this thread down please!

Much unmunsnetty love to those who have lost their loved ones recently, it has certainly reminded me to give my GSD a big squeeze today. Until she made a beeline for my earwax that is..

havei that has full on brought tears of laughter to my eyes! Bloody brilliant!

My little thing has just gone bounding up to my mum and given her a big slurp before playing like a pup with one of mum's collie's

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 18:00

Ugh the cats poo in our garden too. It's like some sort of game, where they get really close to the French doors so the dog goes apeshit and then get themselves in poop position.

Sometimes they don't notice me, behind the wall opening the door Grin

LookMaw - don't post in AIBU if you want to dictate how your thread will go.

I feel genuinely sorry for anyone who hasn't experienced the kind if love that a dog gives.

I wasted many years being the sort of mealy-mouthed killjoy that whined about poo and how scary they are and while I recognise that those are valid concerns, they are OBLITERATED by the nuclear power of a dog's love.

If you'd told me five years ago I would be passionately banging away on a dog defence thread, I would have eaten a Bonio.

VeganCow · 21/07/2013 18:09

I love dogs. Min sleeps in the bed with me.
I love cats. Mine sleep on the bed with me.
Not so keen on people Grin

bassetfeet · 21/07/2013 18:15

My dogs over my life have given me so much joy and love.
If there are no dogs in heaven then I am not going . No way if I am given the choice anyway.

I cannot begin to tell how they have helped me through some tough times.

xylem8 · 21/07/2013 18:16

YABU
Smelly, noisy ,shitting, biting , barking f*ckers!

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 18:23

My dog would rather sleep in the shed than on the bed with a cat. She gives it the big I am but is actually terrified of them!

So many times when she was younger, we'd end up crossing the street to avoid the well 'ard cats round here who always stood their ground.

xylem8 grow up

The greyhound I had as a. Hold was terrified of the cat. She would literally take the food out of his mouth. She was smaller than his head but would steal his bed to use as a play pen leaving him crying on the cold kitchen floor

ICBINEG · 21/07/2013 18:44

"they are OBLITERATED by the nuclear power of a dog's love."

euwww.....imagine needing that kind of validation from a slobbering shitting machine whose only goal is to keep you happy enough you keep opening the dog food tins....

Crikey, ICBINEG imagine being so petty and full of hatred for anything that you have to come on to yet another thread to spread more of it. Hmm

There are enough dog hating threads on MN at the moment, you could take your pick.

MeerkatMerkin · 21/07/2013 18:53

baby, space, I am so sorry for your losses. Flowers

OP, YANBU. My dog, a staffy, is remarkably stupid but she is so docile and loving towards my DS and my kitten, she tolerates a lot from them and doesn't bad an eyelid, just rolls over for her tummy to be stroked.

I don't trust people who don't like dogs/animals.

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 19:00

So many people clearly living such unhappy lives, feeling the need to drag others down to their sad, depressing level.

Talk about shitting on others happiness. Hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Agree! My dogs are my best friends! And I have lots of great human friends.
The dogs are always happy to see me, affectionate, keep me active and out and about, met loads of great people through them and never fail to make me happy.
What is not to love?!

LimitedEditionLady · 21/07/2013 19:06

This is the longest ive not had a dog...three months and i have to say its very quiet and empty in my home without my dog here. You have to be pretty cold to hate animals.

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 20:22

I'm with the poster who said they didn't trust dog haters! It's all very well to dislike them but some people are just plain evil in their hatred.

My mutt is having a strop cos my dad took their dogs out early so she missed her play time and had to make do with just me. To point out how pissed off she is she has stollen my yoghurt pot and eaten what was left which will teach me for leaving it on the tv stand while I went for a wee and the come up for cuddles only to fart in my face...delightful.

Wouldn't have her any other way mind...she smells less than dp after a curry lol

LimitedEditionLady · 21/07/2013 20:42

Icbineg, you ever had a dog?i doubt mine was spending his whole life trying to ensure i opened dog food tins thatd be as boring as you are spending your time posting comments about dogs when you dont have one.Exactly why are you posting?Does it make you feel better?

ICBINEG · 21/07/2013 22:28

not really...it's more that when you read anything as utterly astonishing as some of the shite spouted by dog lovers you feel compelled to respond.

I don't dislike dogs as such - but I don't think owning them as pets is very ethical for all sorts of reasons....but mostly that you have to train them to be other than they would be in their natural state. Doesn't seem at all morally sound to me...

YonisAreForever · 21/07/2013 22:31

You have to train humans too Ice, to be other than they would in a natural state.

Some humans have not been trained that well either.

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 22:32

What a load of tripe.

Did someone say tripe?

OP posts:
bottleofbeer · 21/07/2013 22:33

Dog's genuinely do thrive with human contact. There's nothing unethical or morally unsound in owning one if you care for it properly.

MarmaladeTwatkins · 21/07/2013 22:36

But how can you love something that eats it's own shit?!
