Great Grin

I love my dog, I walk her on the beach and off her lead in the park. I let small children pet her. She eats food off leftover plates and I don't care because she is such a positive, enriching part of my life.

So much dog hate on AIBU recently. I just wanted to spread a bit of smelly, furry, drooly love.

I love LittleDog's biscuit feet, they smell gorgeous.

My dog is a rescue crossbreed, I won't bore you with the details but she's had the shittest life possible. Lets just say maybe its time to start turning our attention to the cruelty of some of the human race and give the dogs a break!
The fact that she has chosen to accept us as her family and is totally brilliant with our kids is humbling.
We all love her back, she's fucking ace.

KittensoftPuppydog · 20/07/2013 21:56

My dog is another rescue cross bull breed. She is the sweetest person in the world and got me though some bad times.
She is sitting in front of me at the moment licking her arse and I really don't care. Every so often she looks up and grins.
She makes my day, every day.

PersonalClown · 20/07/2013 21:58

I love my babies. I love the fact that I baffle people as I have a 'chav' dog and a 'designer' dog.
Just a Staffy and a Labradoodle!

HotCrossPun · 20/07/2013 22:00

Mine too! Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 20/07/2013 22:04

Link to the other nice dog thread here Smile

Manderly, if you've got a dachshund you'll be forever stopping to talk with people who never look at you above the knees! Grin

Wholetthedogin · 20/07/2013 22:07

My dog is just the best.
Look at her picture on my profile. She is lovely.

LookMaw · 20/07/2013 22:13

Haha my GSD sleeps in on the bed too, am frequently wiping her fur off my pillow and not giving a fuck.

I posted on the other thread too. I'm a dog fan.

Funnily enough - even though I'm out and about with my dog a lot - I never seem to meet horrible, out of control dogs or mannerless owners. I don't seem to meet any dog haters, either.

Most people that I do encounter either smile at me or the dog (usually the dog TBH) or stop to talk.

I had a peek at your profile Wholet. What I can see is very cute Grin There's a picture of my pup on my profile, too.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/07/2013 22:27

Yanbu.

I echo what somebody said up thread - dogs are great,it's some owners who let them down.

DreamingOfTheMaldives · 20/07/2013 22:29

My dog is just amazing, he is curled up on the sofa next to me with his head on a pillow, gently snoring away.

I love it when little children walk past with their parents and say "hello doggy" and they all smile at him. Sometimes they stop to have a stroke and if they are very little, I get him to lie down while they stroke him so he doesn't get owe excited and cover them in kisses. He loves toddlers because they are at perfect kissing height!

Plomino · 20/07/2013 22:36

I adore my hounds , dreadful thieving farty creatures though they may be. They are also elegant, awesomely graceful and a joy to watch in full flight , and like my shadow . One is curled up on my lap , snoring gently. The other is snoring so loudly I've had to turn the TV volume up .

NorksAreMessy · 20/07/2013 22:37

I love all sixteen paws, four waggy tails and eight lopsided ears ...and the tiny terriers they belong to.

They guard us, defend us against passing hot air balloons, chase stray sheep out of the garden, kill rats, try to dig moles out of the lawn and make us laugh every day.

We love our poochlings. :)

HoneyDragon · 20/07/2013 22:38

Poochlings

Best Word Ever!!

babyhmummy01 · 20/07/2013 22:39

Haha love it!

I absolutely love my dog, she is nucking futs but brilliant. She is a rescue dog, we got her 8 months ago and to see the change in her since she first came to us is amazing.

She is only 3 and in her short little life has been rehomed twice, beaten to a pulp, starved, tortured and yet she is as soft as butter with us. She adores my dsc's, loves my best friends 1 yo even when having her fur yanked out.

She is still very nervous of strange noises and new people so yaps a lot (which drives me nuts) but she is learning that new people, esp men, are not always going to hurt her and seeing her play with other dogs on the park and let a man she has never met stroke her today made me well up! As her confidence in us to protect her increases she will improve even more.

She even protected bump and I the other day when my friends chocolate lab (which is the fattest thing ever) tried to sit on my bump...saw him off good and proper then cane back to me with a big 'aren't I clever mummy' grin on her

PersonalClown · 20/07/2013 22:39

My Staffy has just managed to squeeze himself in the middle of a 2 seater sofa as he MUST be touching me, even if it just a paw.
God forbid the Doodle get the space.

Wholetthedogin · 20/07/2013 22:39

Sonia had a peak at your dog too.............. lovely!
My dog is currently sleeping on the other sofa with her tongue out - not so cute!

babybythesea · 20/07/2013 22:43

I have a Lassie look-alike who is the best. Still waiting for her to rescue a small child from a well though. I love it when people stop to make a fuss (although I do prefer if they ask first - quick nod to another thread!)

Can I have some sympathy sent this way though? My parents have a 14 year old rough collie (tricolour rather than sable) - she is a big, beautiful baby who doesn't have a nasty bone in her body. Every summer she and her sister come to stay with me while my folks go away - they are due to drop them off on Friday for a fortnight. It looks as though she won't make it. She's not been quite right for a while but she's been happy enough. Today, she has not been happy at all and my dad thinks that this might be it. Holding my big furry mutt and holding back tears, and appreciating a dog-friendly thread that has arrived just in time to help me remember that not everyone hates the creatures that worm their way into our hearts.

DreamingOfTheMaldives · 20/07/2013 22:45

And also my dog has a cuddly giraffe who he sleeps with at night and actually uses him as a pillow or cuddles him between his paws.

We always ask him if he has smelly paws - then tell him 'pooh, they stink!' (Actually they smell fab - of grass and - just what puppy dog's paws should smell of!)

He's my puppy and always will be even though he's now 4 years old

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/07/2013 22:49

Dreaming aww! that's reminded me - My dog (now just over 1 year) slept with a tiny pink squeaky sheep from the first night we got her from the dogs home (aged 6 weeks) until she was 8 months old and then lost it. Found it again last week and she was so excited. Is now sleeping with it again. Very sweet.

KittensoftPuppydog · 20/07/2013 22:52

So sorry babybythe sea.

babyhmummy01 · 20/07/2013 22:55

baby sending hugs and hope she pulls through xxx

dreaming that's soooooo cute! Mine has a zebra jml thing that they aren't meant to be able to destroy....it has no head and is missing one of the squeaky things but she silks if I take it off her! She adores the stinky thing
