They're the knickers, a bit like shorts, which curve across the bum so that half your bum cheek shows.

I saw a lady walking down the street with a tiny pair of shorts on, loads of men nearly walking into lamp posts, it was perfect though, it must be tempting to show off!

This reminds me of the thread about the woman with the hairy arse cheeks hanging out of her shorts.

I am possibly a bit jealous of people who can put their bum cheeks on display without scaring the public.

However, I saw a young woman yesterday who didn't have a big bum, but was wearing the tiniest pair of shorts which had the effect of making her bum look big. Sometimes buying a size bigger is more flattering.

I don't recall such vitriol at women's bodies being a bit more visible in summer in previous years so many 'put it away love' type memes on FB atm.

I hate it. My DDs are desperate to hang their arses out of the bottom of their shorts. Some of their friends' cut off shorts display a good 50% of each buttock. Denim shorts - fine. Denim knickers - not fine.

There will be no arse on display in this house until they're all 71. Then they can make their own decisions. And on that basis alone I'd prefer everyone else to keep their bottoms to themselves so that when they say 'but muuuum, everyone else wears them' I can say 'of course they bloody don't' with more conviction.

YANBU. It makes me uncomfortable because I feel like I'm unwillingly perving on someone if I happen to notice. I'd feel the same if it was a man or woman. I don't find the "its hot" excuse much good either because I doubt that extra inch of bum cheek on show is very cooling!

Lets hope it's just a phase, like g string displayed above jeans which we don't tend to see much anymore, thank goodness.

I don't mind too much when it's this hot. I do think hot pants and insanely short skirts look ludicrous with blue goose bumpy legs and arse cheeks in tights are just daft- I want to say 'buy some winter clothes'

Mind you it seems impossible to buy proper length teen shorts. DD1 wants some, (she is a beautiful curvy size12) she would never pretend she's the right shape for very short shorts or invisible skirts. She wants some flattering ones, not designed for her mother and it's not easy to find them.

Gradually all the shirts in New look were sold cut off like that, hence DD1 being annoyed.

StarBallBunny, we got some in the Hollister sale - they're very short, but definitely cover all of the bum. We did the bend down test too, still covered. I think they were about £30 in the sale, so not cheap but might be worth a try?

Hot pants are fine, hot pants that leave the actual bum cheeks on view are really not fine. Why do you want your arse hanging out whilst you walk down the street? Leave it to the privacy of your own home.

YABU I like seeing a peachy arse so I can whine and moan about the fact I have a flat saggy 32 year old arse that only my DP can tolerate!

I remember when the white vest and short denim shorts came into fashion a few years ago. That was a bad look.
