To not want to see your bottom hanging out of your shorts however perfect it may be

Or this mornings see through skirt with Brazilian knickers Blush.

Alright so I'm a little bit jealous but still is this really a good look?

OP posts:
bettycocker · 16/07/2013 17:13

D0oinMeCleanin I wouldn't worry about it. Not many people are like that nasty old women, but most people would probably notice someone walking down the high street with their rase cheeks hanging out.

I'd notice if anyone had their bums or bits out, man or woman.

bettycocker · 16/07/2013 17:14

I meant arse cheeks!

Trinpy · 16/07/2013 17:19

D0oin I don't think anyone has said anything bad about shorts or certain people wearing shorts, it is the shorts that show people's arse cheeks that aren't nice. And size doesn't come into it. Of course you should wear shorts/maxi dresses if you want.

Trinpy · 16/07/2013 17:22

And imo, overly short shorts are the female equivalent of when boys/men wear trousers so low they show their boxers/arse crack.

D0oinMeCleanin · 16/07/2013 17:22

Well mine probably do do that, I'm not sure yet, I haven't tried them on, but they're very short. I had a choice between very short or knee length, that's all I could find in stock in my size and budget range.

I was just hoping that most people are like me and far too busy getting on with their own lives to even think about what other people are wearing.

I haven't tried them on because I bought a size smaller than normal as my jeans are bit loose but now I'm worried they won't fit Sad

whois · 16/07/2013 17:33

I don't really mind a perfect pert and lovely bottom peeking out from a toned goddess. On the other hand it's massively vile to see a saggy or fat bum podging out. I have double standard for beautiful people, so shoot me.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 16/07/2013 17:34

It's not a good look. Especially on young teenage girls, there was one with her family the other day as we went on a boat trip, and her mum kept saying "pull your shorts down". She was probably about 13. I am surprised her mum allowed her to buy / wear shorts which exposed so much bottom.

But then I am a mother of boys so not likely to ever encounter this issue.

squoosh · 16/07/2013 17:35

I saw a guy the other day whose pubes were peeking over the waist of his extremely tight, extremely low cut jeans.

It was vom-tastic.

MissStrawberry · 16/07/2013 17:40

Why the Blush in the OP?

I don't think you should be Blush.

I see plenty of ladies who really ought to look in the mirror - both views -before they go out. Some look nice but are showing too much and I don't understand why they think anyone else would want to see so much of a stranger, and some who really are showing too much and it is not a pleasant sight.

I would love to wear shorts or a knee length skirt but due to footballers legs and being a tad overweight I cover up. No one needs to see me half naked! TBF even if I was a goddess I would still cover up.

Fillyjonk75 · 16/07/2013 17:47

I am waiting for shorter shorts to return to men's sport. Blush Not hot pants (!) but mid thigh ones look so much better on sportsmen IMO than the nasty baggy 1930s length tennis shorts.

ENormaSnob · 16/07/2013 17:52

I think it looks shit regardless of whos wearing it.

Cheap and trashy.

I also dislike blokes with their tops off unless at the beach or pool.

Again, regardless of size/shape.

trixymalixy · 16/07/2013 17:53

I was on an escalator travelling up and in front of me (and therefore at my eye level) was a girl wearing shorts that displayed her bum cheeks. Her bum cheeks were perfectly well toned, but very spotty. Not a good look.

twistyfeet · 16/07/2013 18:16

could be worse. Could be a bloke in budgie smugglers. Honestly, it was like an unwelcome anatomy lesson. I was sitting down so it was eyeball level.

WildThongsHeartString · 16/07/2013 18:27

I was on the train between a 16yo girl with her bum cheeks nearly in my face ( I had a seat) and a clammy man with no shirt on. Don't know which was worse. We Brits don't do hot weather well do weSmile

SelectAUserName · 16/07/2013 18:33

Amazingg you said exactly what I wanted to say.

"Nobody wants to see that" / "put it away love" / "haven't you got a mirror" / "dress for the body you have, not the body you want" - all that shit is body shaming, pure and simple. It might not be your taste and you may not choose to wear it but so long as it isn't breaking any laws, people can - or should be able - to wear what the hell they like and what they feel comfortable in, not what some judgy fuckers have deemed as some bullshit societal beauty standard.

Mind your own damn business.

MissStrawberry · 16/07/2013 18:45

But surely no one wants to see pubic hair, bum cheeks, ladies nipples or bum cracks?

Legs, fine but not anything more intimate surely.

twistyfeet · 16/07/2013 18:46

arses, fannies, penises should be covered. In my opinion.

Feelingood · 16/07/2013 18:50

Yes jealous but still think its provocative too.

Some people rely on being admired this way.

Pixel · 16/07/2013 19:54

I passed two young girls in the street on Sunday. The skinny one had the arse cheeks out shorts which were bad enough, but the chubby one was wearing what were really leopard-print knickers. It looked like she'd forgotten to finish getting dressed.

I'm afraid I don't buy the argument about people wearing what they like because it's hot. The reason 'Brits don't do heat well' is because a lot of them can't understand that pouring yourself into too-tight clothes is not a good way to keep cool, nor is walking around without a shirt while doing an impression of a lobster.

johnworf · 16/07/2013 19:55

YANBU.

I don't want to see someones arse - pert or not. Neither do I want to see a man walking down the street without a top on.

rubyflipper · 16/07/2013 20:02

amazingg I would wear whatever I liked and damn the cellulite if I were a size 10. But I am not, so I won't. I prefer to save the nation from the sight of my arse in hot pants. Grin

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 16/07/2013 20:07

This thread started off completely straightforwardly as "arses should be covered in town centres". How did it get so confused with "fat birds should wear burkas"/"no they needn't"?

OP YANBU. Everyone who's made this about body size YABU - go and find a thread about that actual topic, there's always loads of this time of year.

Solari · 16/07/2013 20:09

I'm another one who's simply too jealous to have an unbiased opinion. More envious about the self-confidence than the shapely bodies though (but only just!)

I agree LadyIsabella, I don't care about the size and shape of the bum cheeks in question, it's a question of whether people should be showing them in public.

What if I were to visit my local supermarket braless in a see through top? would that be ok? Probably not, and I actually have a nice pair of tits. I think of the bum cheek shorts issue as being exactly the same.

It's different at the beach or swimming pool, but there's a time and a place. Grin
