I'm the owner of a (2nd hand) bugaboo bee which we bought simply because it was the best for public transport, small and light. Since entering the world of babies we have received an unexpected amount of comment both snobby and reverse snobby (ooh a bugaboo, yummy mummy are we)! WTF! Anyone judge or judges in secret?

I have the Icandy Peach Blossom (double), it was bought second hand for me and it is bloody amazing. We got it for practical reasons, I have a teeny baby and a massive toddler who throws himself about when he gets too tired, he wouldn't sit in a back seat in a double and having both of them in our side by side was just dangerous, this way I can have the baby in the back in a carry cot and the toddler still gets his good view and can be laid flat when he's tired.

Amy Our Emmaljunga Herqules has a hand and footbrake (one that actually works), maybe the other EmmalJungas do as well.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 14/07/2013 15:25

I'm picturing it like on a bike, one accessible for each hand? That makes sense to me. Double the ease of applying it.

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:27

Why would you apply a handbrake on a pram except perhaps on a very steep downward hill?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/07/2013 15:28

There's only one, this is it.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/07/2013 15:29

Sparkling That's what we used it for, we live half way up a steepish hill, was also useful in taxis.

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:30

That's brilliant Schro. No runaway buggy. Smile

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 14/07/2013 15:33

Ooh thanks schro I'm jealous now! Grin

Pascha · 14/07/2013 15:33

The wriststrap is a legal requirement in Australia.

marriednotdead · 14/07/2013 15:34

The wrist strap!

Was in the park the other day with a friend. A couple passed us, he was pushing the buggy but SHE was wearing the wrist strap.

We didn't know whether to be Shock or Grin, it was like having a dog or runaway toddler tied to the handle.

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:35

Have the wristraps ever been involved in actually saving a potential tragedy? If the buggy is going in the river for instance, you are going with it?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/07/2013 15:38

Amy They don't make them anymore so they're usually dirt cheap on Ebay/Gumtree.

I really don't get the whole wriststrap thing. Confused

5madthings · 14/07/2013 15:42

Wrist strap quite useful when you have to let go of pushchair unexpectedly to grab your toddler etc. They are also a legal requirement. I use the one on my pushacjair for securing bags of shopping, scooters etc so they have their uses!

WestieMamma · 14/07/2013 15:42

I really don't get the whole wriststrap thing.

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:43

Are Buggy Boards in or out? I had one circa 2002 so I am guessing 'out'? I haven't seen one for ages....

5madthings · 14/07/2013 15:44

Still in sparklong you can get ones with seats now. I have one i used for the boys, the bugaboo one was very good.

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:45

I get that Westie but TBH I wouldn't have thought to wear the wrist strap on a flat station platform. Just goes to show. Sad

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 15:45

Seats 5? Seats? Shock

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 14/07/2013 15:48
Shock
Pascha · 14/07/2013 15:52

Mine has an integral buggyboard which stows away when not in use. Just the thing for us.

thegreylady · 14/07/2013 16:13

Oh gosh-wrong again! We bought dd a bugaboo for dgs1 because we read reviws and thought it was the best one.We had offered to buy it and dd thought it would be nice for us to choose so gave us a list of features she wanted. She said she loved it-I didn't mean to be snobby at all.Mind you it did two lively boys before being passed on to a friend.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 14/07/2013 16:17

Ooh all these things I wish I had! I could do with wrist straps too. I have nightmares of tripping on the hill and dd rolling down onto the dual carriageway at the bottom :( I might have a nosy on eBay later for all this things. Grrr ing at you all for reawakening my pram addiction Grin

5madthings · 14/07/2013 16:22

babyworld.co.uk/reviews/kid-sit/

Yep buggy boards with seats, mine had to stand but it meant I always managed to get away with not buying a double pushchair.

Grey my mil bought our bugaboo, I loved it and was very grateful, I am sure your dd was as well.

Grandparents buying prams/push chairs is quite common I think. My mil wanted to get is a gift and she came amd helped choose etc, it was nice for her to be involved and much appreciated by us :)

tanukiton · 14/07/2013 16:33

I don,t know the make of mine !! The first was a Japanese brand lovely light rear and forward facing collapses with one hand. I ran over it in the garage :( . The second was second hand from a friend built like a tank, can fit a 2 year old and 5 year old in it when going round the airport. I could go and check... but can,t be arsed

Freudianslap · 14/07/2013 17:15

Slightly off topic but I have noticed similar amounts of snobbery about changing bags, the mind boggles......

Sparklingbrook · 14/07/2013 17:18

Changing bags? Shock Noooo. Oh blimey. What do you have to have now?
