Asked my bumps daddy not to drink at home?

Ok so bump isn't that big yet but asked my other half to not drink at home as I know I am really gonna miss our nights in with a few drinks and a take away etc.
He thinks I'm being unreasonable but I don't think I am?
I have changed my diet, routine and of course my body is changing too so I don't think its much to ask to keep alcohol out the house?

My husband in on strong meds and will be for the foreseeable future, probably longer than 9 months... if he asked me not to enjoy a bottle glass of wine at the weekend because we were 'in it together' I'd probably think he'd lost it. Obviously, whilst he's writhing in agony on the sofa (well, sitting uncomfortably) I won't be cracking open the Take That Singstar DVD and doing solo shots, but I'm bloody well not going to join him in his misery and discomfort... I'll carry on supporting him, loving him and 'being there' and I'll carry on with my lovely wine.

Aimeeleighb YABU, but I DO understand why you feel this way, especially if you're not exactly 'blossoming' in pregnancy (it was 9 months of joyless discomfort for me!) then watching someone relax in a manner you're not allowed to (alcohol, rollercoasters, brie!) can get you down, but YAstillBU.

In the nicest way. I was VU during my pregnancy. I am grateful to friends who told me so. Don't take scathing remarks to heart, try and smile at it rather than take it personally. Good luck x

Bumps Daddy is the new Hamwidge.

Cloverer · 06/06/2013 00:12

YANBU

Don't understand the vicious replies, or why it is so unreasonable to ask your partner not to drink at home Confused Hardly asking for a huge sacrifice?

BIWI · 06/06/2013 00:13

Oh for goodness sake, curryeater. Don't be so ridiculous.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 06/06/2013 00:13

No Hamwidge was funny, not puke worthy.

curryeater · 06/06/2013 00:13

I am going to bed before BIWI comes back with some mindlessly authoritative patronising stupidity like when Mrs Thatcher was on the radio with that woman about the Belgrano... "oh but mrs so and so you must understand....." the whole thing dripping in condescension

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 06/06/2013 00:13

Cloverer but why shouldn't he drink at home? HE isn't pregnant.

Kneedeepindaisies · 06/06/2013 00:14

OP I do think YABU to ask him not to drink at all whilst you're pregnant. In the last few weeks, yes I think he should abstain, but there is no need to now.

Sorry you are getting a bit of stick for Bump's Daddy, but this is AIBU and it did make me cringe when I read the title.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 06/06/2013 00:14

... and frankly, anyone who needs other people to stop drinking around them needs to take a long hard look at their relationship with alcohol!

BIWI · 06/06/2013 00:15

And it wasn't supposed to be patronising, actually, it was a genuine response. Because I felt a bit guilty about not taking the OP seriously to start with.

Although ... Hmm

burberryqueen · 06/06/2013 00:15

I suppose it depends on whether 'drinking at home' is a couple of beers or a vodka bender.

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/06/2013 00:15

Maryz is the voice of peace and wisdom as usual.
I agree with her.
I also think the Op is not all that she seems to be.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 06/06/2013 00:16
