AIBU to think that whichever 1970s-throwback Paperchase employee commissioned THIS card should get the sack?

"Can we tweet Paperchase with #NotBuyingIt ?"

I am sure you can. I am sure they wouldnt give a shit...

SirChenjin · 05/06/2013 21:24

There are a lot of very dubious cards out there covering all occasions. If you don't like them, don't buy them.

ChasingStaplers · 05/06/2013 21:24

This exact same card was also a birthday card. How do I know? Because a friend of mine's aunt bought it for him.
He was Hmm Shock Hmm that she thought he'd like it.

MamaChubbyLegs · 05/06/2013 21:26

It made me laugh, but only because DP is so ridiculously obsessed with boobs, he'd fail the quiz even when looking at the picture Hmm

I've seen much worse.

I'm not offended. I save all my sexism rage for accidental viewings of the Daily Mail. Much more offensive IMO! Angry

scarletsalt · 05/06/2013 21:27

Meh, I can't get all that worked up about it. There are
Cards aimed at women with naked blokes and 'ooer' jokes on them. They are usually just as unfunny as this one.

maddy68 · 05/06/2013 21:28

I would get that for my dad. He would find that hilarious. As I do.
Again if you don't like it don't buy it

marriedinwhiteagain · 05/06/2013 21:32

Well, I'm afraid I can imagine my older teenagers buying it for DH and we would all find it funny. The model is covered up. There are far orse things and men like boobs generall.

GeorgianMumto5 · 05/06/2013 21:33

I think it's from the same range as: this one. If I was designing a maze, I'd at least try and make it look like I didn't take my inspiration from the Third Reich.

AThingInYourLife · 05/06/2013 21:34

Dear Dad,

You are a sleazy, sexist twat.

Happy Father's Day!

AThingInYourLife · 05/06/2013 21:36

Dear Dad,

You are a sleazy, sexist twat.

Happy Father's Day!

Itsjustafleshwound · 05/06/2013 21:37

But just about every 'funny' Father's day card seems to rely on some male stereotype with fetching blue envelopes or bloody awful, drippy 'i love you daddy' cards for the children ...

PeggyGuggenheim · 05/06/2013 21:38

Yes unspeakable! And I have started tweeting Charlotte Raven, Jane Garvey, Miss Representation, Everyday Sexism... any other suggestions ?

Ilovemyself · 05/06/2013 21:42

Can I ask what is different to a card aimed at a female with a nearly naked male on it? Like this one www.greetingcarduniverse.com/adult-sexy-birthday-cards/for-her/happy-birthday-male-taking-off-618198

Does that make all of the comments on the Dr Who thread about which Doctor different posters fancy sexist or wrong?

If that is the case then the 1000s of women that like going to see the Chippendales must be wrong too.

I do agree that if it was sent by an 8 year old that would be wrong, but an adult to their adult father - how.

joanofarchitrave · 05/06/2013 21:42

'I am sure when it was Mothers day there were equally lewd cards for adult women to buy for their mothers. '

Really??

I suppose there's this one but it doesn't seem quite the same??

I have to say I don't find the card particularly upsetting though...

lborolass · 05/06/2013 21:43

I can imagine exactly the same card for Mothers Day with a diet coke type topless hunk or similar in tight jeans so I'd guess they are even handed in their sexism

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 05/06/2013 21:43

tweet @thefworduk as well?

KittensoftPuppydog · 05/06/2013 21:43

Just reviewed it.

lborolass · 05/06/2013 21:44

haha joanofarc - you found one just as I was posting Grin

PeggyGuggenheim · 05/06/2013 21:48

eminemmerdale · 05/06/2013 21:49

I was looking through my old mothers day cards from eldest dd recently and they generally had the theme of 'sit down and don't do the housework/run around after dad today', which is actually a bit depressing too.

snooter · 05/06/2013 21:51

GOK why any woman would want to look like that & pay money for it. I'm assuming here the boobs are fake. Apologies if not.

scarletsalt · 05/06/2013 22:02

I assumed it was photoshopped?!

snooter · 05/06/2013 22:04

I hope it was photoshopped - Can't imagine anyone managing to stand upright like that!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 05/06/2013 22:29

there are no doubt similarly sexist cards for women btw, and if men want to get onto that, they should. sexism does none of us any favours.

OP posts:
Ilovemyself · 05/06/2013 22:32

It is actually sexist towards men - it is saying that men can't see past women's boobs.
