I suspect that the people who say 'prison is a holiday camp/hotel' have, in most cases, never set foot in one. I have been in Belmarsh. It was horribly oppressive and as far from 'luxury' as you can imagine. If you stayed in a hotel that looked like that, you'd want your money back, for sure. As I drove home, I was suddenly very aware of my physical freedom and what it actually meant.

The high cost of prisons is largely because of the level of staffing needed to ensure the inmates don't create anarchy. I'm sure we'd all agree that those who work in prisons are entitled to be protected from violence.

What has been done to him. Fuck he is kept in a cell in his own with other sex offender's like him , with 3 good meal's a day likely a large flat screen t.v. So is that what he deseve's? Well all I can say is what a life, o and nice warm bed. Well let's hope somebody is waiting or get's to him sometime. Why should life be easy for him. Oh donna do not compare me with that evil scum, you are out of order with that comment.

I think claims about what facilities lifers get in prison should be accompanied by the source of that info to have any credibility.

And Bridger will never be released. No Home Secretary would make that call. Same as with Brady and Hindley.

I think Scottishmummy is on the right lines. It's the opposite of strength- it's weakness and fear which breeds this daily mail attitude: "yeah, I'd chop his balls off and string him up and torture him slowly"... Because that way you're showing you love your own children soooo much innit, and nothing bad will ever happen to them because you love your kids so much more than the rest of us.

Far braver to acknowledge that actually, we cant totally protect our children from the evils of this world. All we can do is try our best to keep them safe, and when we can't, to behave with dignity like Aprils parents
