To find that 'strikethrough what you really wanted to say' thing annoying?

Every thread on mumsnet there's some cleverdick person who writes their post in this so called funny way with the irritating things they were 'going' to say crossed out in the middle of their post.

It makes reading things take twice as longer just so someone can be a smartarse so I'm a bit over it. I found it funny the first five times, now I'm just finding it annoying. Grin

That's too bad. Most of us really like it. It's very handy for calling a cunt a cunt. Not that I'm calling you a cunt. That would be against guidelines. I'm just using it as an example.

lubeybooby · 27/05/2013 15:01

oh well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/05/2013 15:01

You know what's going to happen don't you?

Feenie · 27/05/2013 15:01

Tough

Sallyingforth · 27/05/2013 15:02

It's the only way you are now allowed to refer to morons silly people.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 27/05/2013 15:03

If I particularly wish to gain your approbation pigs will fly I will bear your preferences in mind, thank you for expressing them so clearly.

Hashtagwhatever · 27/05/2013 15:03

bothered

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2013 15:03

o come on OP you must have known you would get loads of these

Cosydressinggown · 27/05/2013 15:03

Yes, I did predict these clever responses! Grin

Seriously, I'm not really one for pretending not to be saying something, I'd rather just say it.

SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 27/05/2013 15:03

no idea what you are moaning about I understand OP

SoleSource · 27/05/2013 15:04

I do not have the line.

Only this ~

Cosydressinggown · 27/05/2013 15:06

Looking forward to the next eight pages of you all making the same joke over and over again though whilst insulting me, though! Grin

OP posts:
amandine07 · 27/05/2013 15:11

I personally find it amusing when people do this, it doesn't really take any longer to read a post- you just automatically read what's there in front of you.

All the replies so far have made laugh! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2013 15:13

FWIW I used to hate it too for the same reasons you mention, and avoided it. Then one day I took the plunge and I've never looked back

StealthPolarBear · 27/05/2013 15:14

I do agree though that some posts sometimes are written like this post and makes for very difficult indecipherable message post

Kittensandkids · 27/05/2013 15:15

I don't get why you don't like it

it's been here for years as we love it so much

Kittensandkids · 27/05/2013 15:16

YABU

LoveBeingUpAt4InTheMorning · 27/05/2013 15:18

Ffs yes I totally agree I always never do this

LittleDirewolfBitJoffrey · 27/05/2013 15:20

I enjoy the comedy value of the strikethrough and use it every now and again, but I cba to do it now even though it's always worth it
The failed strikethrough is pretty good too.

HarrietSchulenberg · 27/05/2013 15:20

I don't mind the strikethroughs but the line plus line ones don't get read. Just jumbly mess.
I would appreciate it, though, if the strikethroughs were put in the right place as I've seen loads where the sensible comment is crossed out and idiot comment is left to stand.

Tee2072 · 27/05/2013 15:24

LittleDire did you know you can strikethrough a whole line now?

NoelHeadbands · 27/05/2013 15:26

YABU

I use the strike through to devastating comic effect. You just haven't seen me do it yet.

Agree with Harriet though, please use it properly people

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 27/05/2013 15:26

I find the funniest posts from the funniest MNers usually contain them.

Do you not like other people being funnier than you OP?

TanteRose · 27/05/2013 15:28

YABU

And stop grinning - it's very annoying
