To find that 'strikethrough what you really wanted to say' thing annoying?

Every thread on mumsnet there's some cleverdick person who writes their post in this so called funny way with the irritating things they were 'going' to say crossed out in the middle of their post.

It makes reading things take twice as longer just so someone can be a smartarse so I'm a bit over it. I found it funny the first five times, now I'm just finding it annoying. Grin

No. It's a way of expressing more than just the words on the page.

You realise you are a bit sad when you find yourself wanting to use brackets and strikeouts in work emails. Thank fuck I'm not the only one who thinks this!

I LOVE a good strikeout - some of the funniest things I've read on MN have been striked out!

HesterShaw · 27/05/2013 20:20

I long for strike outs on FB. Many's the time I've longed to put you cunt, get over yourself.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 27/05/2013 20:33

I do use strikeout in work emails, but only to mates who will get my meaning.

Jestrin · 27/05/2013 20:58

A friend and I used to write letters to each other like this. Full of strike outs which were rude words mainly

Pinkflipflop · 27/05/2013 21:00

If this annoys you then you really need to get out more!Grin

pointythings · 27/05/2013 21:13

I don't use strikeouts in emails, not all my colleagues nationally have email configurations that show these, but I do use the < > brackets, not just in the MN sense but also in the HTML end tag sense, as in .

SirChenjin · 27/05/2013 21:23

How do you use strikeouts in work emails?? very excited

pointythings · 27/05/2013 21:37

It's not exciting at all... You just have to be using MS Word as your text editor, or working at least in Rich Text format. Then you can just highlight the bit of text you want to strike through, click on the Font button on the toolbar and select 'strikethrough' from the options available. It's fun though and it works a treat when making the IT department laugh.

usualsuspect · 27/05/2013 21:51

You can use strike out on FB but it's a bit of a faff

usualsuspect · 27/05/2013 21:55

FB strike through

Stinkyminkymoo · 28/05/2013 09:36

And ^that's^ why I love MN Grin

Jengnr · 28/05/2013 11:19

SirChenjin · 28/05/2013 15:15
