I commute in and out of London daily. I am now very used to seeing women every morning applying a full face on their way to work. I don't do this myself as I like to do my prep in privacy at home.

But.. I am sat next to a young woman with a caked on face who has whipped out the baby wipes. She has wiped off all the make up (before wiping her face on her jumper the dirty moo!) and is now reapplying. The whole lot! With dirty hands! Why?

What do I not get here? Would I be unreasonable to ask her why she thinks this is ok? Am I being a judgey old cow?

Yes, MN can be a little judgey but it's one thing to judge the action/choice and another to judge it based on (what sounds like) prejudice and snobbery.

I always challenge it, in rl and on here.

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:12

unfortunately you don't make me laugh usual

SoulTrain · 21/05/2013 21:13

Scottishmummy thins its common doncha' love?!

TheOrchardKeeper · 21/05/2013 21:13

Ok, getting elbowed. That's annoying.

The application of makeup in public really shouldn't be Hmm

usualsuspect · 21/05/2013 21:14

Oh, below the belt SM .

crashdoll · 21/05/2013 21:14

I don't know why people get het up with Scottish she's always like this. Flaming her back is just engaging. It's best to nod, smile and say "yes dear" in a patronising tone.

TheOrchardKeeper · 21/05/2013 21:15

x-post

You wear your prejudice on your sleeve. It's a free country.

Just don't be surprised when people pull you up on it...

HazeltheMcWitch · 21/05/2013 21:15

Arf at scottishmummy's I have superior manners

Of course you do, hen. Very superior indeed.

TheOrchardKeeper · 21/05/2013 21:16

NO USUAL !

No below the belt business or she may just pass out at the sheer vulgarity Hmm

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow · 21/05/2013 21:16

Blimey what is wrong with people?
SM you seem unusually upset and prickly today - not sure Usual deserved that. Are you ok?

On the subject in hand I don't care either way - I'm fascinated by people watching (yeah, I'm the one that's gawping at someone doing anything remotely interesting!) but make up application doesn't strike me as gross.

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:17

I have an ability to get out house dressed, tastefully made up, without need for public affrontery

TheOrchardKeeper · 21/05/2013 21:19

and these women have the ability to not care and do it, whatever cat's-arse impression is directed at them Biscuit

OnTheNingNangNong · 21/05/2013 21:20

SM, maybe you should write a book on how to not be a commoner, I'm sure your wonderful skills will sell millions.

VBisme · 21/05/2013 21:20

I always put my make-up on on my way to work, but that's either in the car (I'm not driving), or the plane - is that okay? Blush

If I had to get the train however, that's where I'd put on make up, luckily I care very little about what other people might think of me. Honestly, I don't understand the issue, why aren't you doing something useful yourself?

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:21

it's quite simple don't apply your make up in public and you'll stay on right side of sane

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:23

I wholly productive,I can read send emails, schedule meeting in morning
whilst kat skater is applying her orangey slap on train due to poor time management
the task I manage at home, not in public

happybubblebrain · 21/05/2013 21:24

Is it really worth worrying about? You don't have to watch. How much energy does it take to turn the other way? I don't understand why people get offended by things like this.

I also don't understand people who tut because you've got in their way by accident and caused them a hold up of 3 seconds or less.

It seems tolerance, kindness and patience is in very short supply with some people.

crashdoll · 21/05/2013 21:25

I guess you are a perfect person happybubblerain with no random pet peeves especially not ones that do not impact on others. Hmm

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:25

I have never worried,more disdain

NoelHeadbands · 21/05/2013 21:26

But what is 'common' about having poor time management skills Confused..?

Anyway, I'm biased.. I don't do it, but I have been known to YouTube vids of people applying make up. I'm a commoner weirdo

TheOrchardKeeper · 21/05/2013 21:26

Some women probably have enough time at home but do it anyway Shock

keep up Noel.application of slap on transport is common
and apparently because of poor time management
poor time management isn't common it's ditzy and avoidable

usualsuspect · 21/05/2013 21:30

How does someone putting their slap on, impact on anyone else?

Please tell me,because I genuinely don't understand.

scottishmummy · 21/05/2013 21:31

rubbish no one has such a chaotic full on schedule that they need to apply slap on train
poor time management, habituation, are most likely answers
