Bad Language

I started a thread about a subject close to my heart - GM Food infiltrating into our supermarkets, see GMO.
However I was bombarded with male posts, not only attacking this subject, but me personally, even using the C word.! I'm no prude but as a first time poster to mumsnet I was really shocked and somewhat disappointed that this site could be used, by men, obviously, to demean and degrade us just because they may happen to disagree.
They were presumably fathers, some of daughters, or if not, we can safely assume that they do at least all have Mothers, and I felt like a fly on the wall at the worst kind of lads night out imaginable.!

Why is mumsnet allowing this to happen despite my reporting them?
More importantly why do men feel so threatened on a site which at least unites us in parenthood, to use such derogatory and offensive terms.?
Shouldn't we all unite in achieving the best future for our kids.?
Shouldn't men loose the attitude or go somewhere else to vent.!

Op, you are an atrocious privates.
Nah, doesn't work.

Sallyingforth · 21/05/2013 09:38

OP you should treat an Internet forum like your TV. If you don't like the programme, switch to another channel.

WorraLiberty · 21/05/2013 09:44

My God OP and I thought you were sexist on the other thread

You just don't stop do you? Shock

dawntigga · 21/05/2013 09:44

hahahahaaa

This is a joke post no? EVERYONE knows that the language on here can be a bit fruity, if you don't like it you can always leave.

"This web site should not be allowing it in general conversation, end of!"

Sorry, OP.

This website does allow swearing. If you would be more comfortable in one that doesn't, hen there are many others available to you.

This one is fine just as it is.

OP could you please stop using both a full stop and an exclamation mark together. The exclamation mark incorporates a full stop. You were told this on your last thread too.

Thanks

Still think you are as mad as a box of frogs.

Just read the entire GMO thread and I could find very few uses of the word cunt. I found the lack of scientific and empirical evidence more alarming than the 'c word' as you refer to it op and I'm pretty sure the majority of the posters were female. So what are you on about, you silly 'c-word'!?

Ps - the daily mail is not a reliable, accurate source of scientific information. I suggest the scientific journals concerning agriculture, biotechnology, nature and even PubMed for proper (non daily mail) science.

I am a woman btw.

EleanorHandbasket · 21/05/2013 10:19

I think this is a stupid site invasion thing, isn't it?

HeffalumpTheFlump · 21/05/2013 10:24

Even my cat loves the word cunt. I call her cuntface :)

I am planning to stop this when my baby is born as I don't want an awkward moment at school...

Teacher: do you have any pets?
DC1: yes a pussy cat.
Teacher: what's your cats name love?
DC1: cuntface.

enormouse · 21/05/2013 10:27

Oh and please read Caitlin Moran's 'how to be a woman', OP.

It discusses the reclaiming of the word 'cunt' as a feminist act. It may clarify why mumsnetters love to use it.

enormouse · 21/05/2013 10:48

Don't know why I'm doing this, as I'm sure you won't read it but here you go:

Awww, ladies, you have scared the OP away and this was only her second thread. It would have been much nicer to offer her some advice on how best to use AIBU like this...

Clearly OP You Are Being Unreasonable (YABU) for posting on AIBU without posing the question.

So let me summarise for you:
AUBU for posting a thread about a thread? Yes YABU
AUBU for claiming to be able to identify male posters? Yes YABU
AUBU for complaining about personal(attacks) comments? Yes YABU
AUBU for complaining about bad language? Sadly, yes YABU

Would you be unreasonable to post the following:
AIBU to expect mumsnet to be populated by mums who show mutual respect for each other, to be a haven for women to support each other in achieving the best for their kids, away from the rough, brutish inpact of men? NO - YWNBU to post that question but the answers would be very interesting.

nononsensemumof2 · 22/05/2013 14:29

Ok. First off no one scared me away.
The site crashed, and for some reason my last post never made it. Probably a good job in retrospect, because I was rather scathing, to say the least, about the immaturity displayed on this thread, as it read more like Kidsnet.

I will admit however that I did think this site was mainly for women with kids. I cant imagine why.? Oh yes it was the NAME of the site !
I have NEVER met a woman or a man who ever called a stranger the C word and did not end up in Hospital, especially if they tried to get away with it by saying it was just 'a term of endearment.' !!
I sense a lot of angry people out there, who seem resentful of anyone who dare attempt to inform people about anything they didn't already know.
Well no surprise, I'm not apologetic for that, because I refuse to accept all the 'dumbing down', or wear it as a badge of honour.

OP posts:
EleanorHandbasket · 22/05/2013 14:30

Can you explain to me about DNA again, though, please?

ExitPursuedByABear · 22/05/2013 14:36
ItsallisnowaFeegle · 22/05/2013 14:42

How do you know these posts were from male posters OP?

I think you're just a goady bastard and have fuck all else to do with your time.

For information purposes, I am a woman.

Lj8893 · 22/05/2013 14:46

Ahhh your a boring cunt too!
