Photos and Memes (sp?) already appearing on FB Hmm.

It's only been a couple of hours - the man with his legs blown off us particularly offensive - he is prob still fighting for his life - his family might not know he is hurt yet?

Yet SIL just posted a picture of him with the caption "he was running for charity yet lost both his legs in the bombings" Hmm .

FFS what is wrong with people? :(

She's OH's sister.

I can't.

Ooooh given what you've put in your Op i'd suggest you probably can .... how incredibly crass (how does she even know he was running - he's in a t-shirt not running gear).

or just put underneath it .... how incredibly crass - this man is probably fighting for his life right now.

MarvinMedium · 15/04/2013 23:16

There are 13 year olds on Fb too - it's a bit much to put that pic on there (not that i'm saying we shouldn't be able to see these things - but with adult eyes and after a proper disclaimer).

SirBoobAlot · 15/04/2013 23:18

These photos have just started cropping up on my news feed too, including one of the incident site with blood splattered pavements.

WTAF is wrong with people?!

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 23:21

Just delete her. Confused Then tell her why? It's only Facebook.

MsVestibule · 15/04/2013 23:23

I've seen that photo online (my own fault, I'm too nosey and possibly a little ghoulish Blush but can't believe somebody has posted it on FB. I feel sick just thinking about it.

Yes, perhaps a bit difficult to unfriend your SIL, but I would be hiding her posts.

squeakytoy · 15/04/2013 23:23

you dont need to delete her, just hide her from your newsfeed.. she will not need to know

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 23:26

But she needs to know that posting stuff like that is out of order.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 15/04/2013 23:29

Agreed..and the news coverage is ridiculous too..bbc news 24 kept scrolling things like "spectators were splattered with blood".

Just why? We know how awful bombs are..the media coverage is like some ghoulish wallowfest.

Gossipmonster · 15/04/2013 23:31

Sky news replayed the clip of a man collapsing as the bomb went off about 6 times in succession Hmm.

OP posts:
HesterShaw · 15/04/2013 23:32

And it's getting worse with every passing event.

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 23:35

It really is Hester. I notice on the DM website that a lot of the news videos have 'warning graphic content' well don't put them on the website then. Angry

Mumblepot26 · 15/04/2013 23:41

Actually my cousin was running Boston marathon today, she dropped her phone at finish line. We did not know if she was alive for two hours this evening until she was able to post on face book that she is safe. That's 'moronic' Facebook for you.

cardamomginger · 15/04/2013 23:44

YANBU. People can express grief and shock and still maintain respect for people's dignity and privacy.

GibberTheMonkey · 15/04/2013 23:45

Obama has said they will bring the group or individual to blame
to account
I think you can call it a bombing

I seem to be lucky in my fb friends
None are so crass. A few shocked posts but that's it really

Hoping all those in critical condition pull through

SarahAndFuck · 15/04/2013 23:45

I've seen the candle pictures and thought it didn't take long for those to start Hmm

I wouldn't unfriend someone for posting those, but I will unfriend anyone who posts a picture of an injured person, it's disrespectful and offensive to those who were hurt or killed.

SarahAndFuck · 15/04/2013 23:46

Glad your cousin is alright Mumblepot

ddubsgirl · 15/04/2013 23:47

Know someone who was there an had just left before bombs went off taken ages for her to let us all know she was ok as lines all jammed up

Gossipmonster · 15/04/2013 23:50

Glad you cousin is ok.

The things are clearly 2 separate issues - your cousin chose to relay that information to her FB friends.

The guy with his legs blown off has not chosen to be plastered all over the Internet.

Viviennemary · 15/04/2013 23:53

This Facebook stuff is getting horrific. I'll be glad when it eventually disappears. Which it hopefully will one day.

Not the candle picture - the picture of the guy with his legs blown off Hmm.

It will officially be blamed on Iran and used as casus belli to start war with them.

BegoniaBampot · 16/04/2013 00:49

Why do folk blame FB for the fact they have stupid and crass friends or family?

andubelievedthat · 16/04/2013 01:04

The phrase , "Media Porn",> I 1st heard it in the aftermath of 9/11 , in the discussion(s) as to why they had the footage of those planes hitting the twin towers on almost a continual loop ,on some stations. Same thing, unfortunately, now we live in the "information age".The immediate age ,the now age. Sad.
