To be shocked at Game of Thrones - it's very rude!

I just got a copy of series 1 of Game of Thrones from a mate.

It's very rude. It's like Lord of the Rings, only with tits and incest. I had heard about it and thought DS 14 would enjoy something like that. After watching it myself, I think he would enjoy it a little too much.

I think it's fab, but I haven't seen any other TV series that feature so much full frontal nudity. It even has willies!

AIBU to be totally shocked at how rude it is?

Ladyjadie - they've signed a four season contract with George R R Martin. What this probably means is that he'll demand a ridiculously high payout for the rest of them, they'll wrangle over it for ages, then agree to his demands.

The problems will come if/when they can't get all the cast back together because they're all off making other things due to their rising popularity. I see that becoming a reality with the younger cast members. And Peter Dinklage, naturally, because he's so fecking brilliant!

Peter Dinklage is in the next X Men film I believe. It's inevitable that lots of them will be eager to leave sooner or later as more tempting offers come their way.

I've read all the books but I actually think the HBO series is better. They've excised all the tiresome traipsing around the Trident and the riverlands and random peasants getting murdered in unpleasant ways and random bandits riding along and characters being introduced and then 5 pages later once you've dutifully read their extensive descriptions and lineages...

Ser Ranister Castellan was mounted on a grey destrier with one eye and a sigil of an azure bend across quartered pink and gold stripes with sixteen ladybugs embroidered on his doublet and his hair was gold showing his connection with the Lannisters and his eyes were blue like his mother who was a Tully twice removed on her father's side and cousin to the so and sos from the Storm Lords and he was page to Ser wotsit and liege lord to Ser whozit and he was riding from Riverrun to the Trident and...

Oh, he's dead.

Jon Snow? I.don't get it, not my type at all. In fact the only male character who has had some appeal for me is Karl Drogo and now he's dead, sniff.
Margery is a cunning little vixen, all butter won't melt but she has thought long and hard as to.how to.secure her position. If she wins the respect and admiration of the common folk of Kings Landing that means that Circie and even Joffry would have to.think long and hard if they wanted to move against her publicly.

I really want to read the books (dp has all of them) but I find his sentence structure really long-winded and difficult for my very mildly dyslexic brain to follow.

I may try again, as I have 3 more days holiday to go.

Right. If Mr Martin does indeed keel over before finishing the books, I'm willing to take over (for squillions of pounds, obvs) and will write them to HBO standards to cut out the middle man.

'Lord Someone-or-Other turns up. Drops his pants. Young and skinny bird gets tits out and writhes all over him. This goes on for five minutes.

How did he sell out? The books are full of fucking, tits, cocks, arses, whores, rapes, sex, sex, sex! But Margery doesn't get anything out and she's over the age of consent. Sansa does, but then puts it away, um, later.

Yes, she was 13 when she married him but 14 at the time she became pregnant.

Both Jon and Robb were about the same age at the beginning: 15.

Sansa is a month off 13 at around the middle of Book 3 and I'm saying nowt else :o.

expat you're absolutely right. The HBO series, if anything, plays down some of the stuff in the book IMO.

I was a little embarrassed on the train once reading a rather graphic description of Tyrion with Shae. Thank god it was on a kindle app for iphone so v hard to see, but I did get a little twitchy about the person next to me looking over and seeing the word COCK appearing at least three or four times in the first few lines of text. And there are only 6 lines of text showing on screen on an iphone kindle.
