To be shocked at Game of Thrones - it's very rude!

I just got a copy of series 1 of Game of Thrones from a mate.

It's very rude. It's like Lord of the Rings, only with tits and incest. I had heard about it and thought DS 14 would enjoy something like that. After watching it myself, I think he would enjoy it a little too much.

I think it's fab, but I haven't seen any other TV series that feature so much full frontal nudity. It even has willies!

AIBU to be totally shocked at how rude it is?

but as an avid Walking Dead fan I've become desensitised

I watched the finale of the last series without resorting to my cushion to hide behind once.

Bear in mind I spent the entire pilot behind the cushion with much whimpering.

I watched game of thrones and don't remember a single willy. Wonder if the Italians censored the rude bits.

Walking Dead is full of suspense. There was one episode this series where I actually screamed.

I can't remember what happened and I don't think it was particularly violent, but it just took me by surprise. That's all part of the appeal.

DP gave me a right old ripping over it.

Tyrion Lannister is brill but Petyr Baelish is my favourite though this is more from the books than the series.

Joffrey is well cast too. He's despicable.

DH's grandad watches it too and I did gently question him on what it was he enjoyed and he waxed lyrical about the politics and the battles and then said he didn't like the sex/nudity and fastforwarded bits of it.

I seem to remember from series 1 that I was rather annoyed by Daenerys' wedding night. It looks a lot like khal drogo rapes her but in the book, it's consensual. The actual act anyway. The marriage is obviously political. Actually, that reminds me, Viserys was well cast too.

i have just watched the entire thing in 2 days....loved it! it is a bit racy isnt it....but well done i think.

the only gory bits that got me were to do with the horses....

also a walking dead fan....
and a dexter fan

i seem to have a bit of a blood thirsty streak...either that i its just bloody good telly.

You can't remove the incest, that's integral to the plot. For centuries the Targarians married brother to sister, ending in a bonkers mad king, so the new lot don't approve, hence the secrecy about Jaime and Cersei. But there is a very deep love there, which you come to understand when you get to see their delightful daddy.

So the person upthread who said they'd prefer less incest, that's like saying you'd prefer fewer zombies in Walking Dead! It's fine to wish there was less nudity and sex, I think those could be shown less graphically, but you can't take away the 'family action'.

That's the only bit where I thought they had taken it too far. Other than that, I've really enjoyed it so far, and I'm going to watch the first episode of series 2 tonight.

I love Arya and I hope she doesn't get killed off.

I'm wondering if the TV series will make it to the end of the books. Some of the characters may need to be recast, Bran and Anya are supposed to be young children but the actors are growing up too fast, Bran's voice has broken and Anya isn't a little girl anymore, yet only a few months are supposed to have passed in storyline terms.

It was supposed to appear like rape. I read a book about how they transformed the books into the TV series, and there's a big part on how they talked to George about changing it, and then the actors, and then decided that it went better that way. They didn't feel they could convey the scene the way it was, and thought rape made it more realistic, and her more likeable.

I remember because I ranted at DP about how wrong that was

I thought maybe the worst sexual bit was when Littlefinger had to wipe sperm from the mouth from one of his girls before sending her to her next 'client'. I was surprised to see that on mainstream TV.

CarpeVinum I saw the actor who plays Jon Snow being interviewed and it didn't work for me at all seeing him as his 21st century self.

I like the fur collared cape and all the brooding about 'they murdered ma father'. I'm willing to risk a bit of ye olde worlde lack of sanitation in order to have him in character.

DH and I had read the books and recommended the series to my dad when it first aired. We sat there watching it all together. Together ffs. With my dad . God only knows what he thought of us.

I love GoT - it's definitely gone less racier though. Or I'm taking less notice?

Oh and I thought the finale of WD was awful this season, last seasons was much better. This wasn't remotely cliffhanger-y. Meh.

I'm patiently waiting for a new series of Sons of Anarchy now...hurry up.
