BBC saying that Thatcher has died following a stroke

OP posts:
flaminhoopsaloolah · 08/04/2013 18:17

That's a lovely thought, Cleo...I now feel the need to shower....Shock

A shopkeeper's daughter eh (I've really taken that little notice, haven't I. I didn't even know that) From what little I understand about her policies, I doubt she actually did shopkeepers much good either....

PenelopePortrait · 08/04/2013 18:20

YANBU OP. No tears shed in this part of the country.

Will the media catch on or will they shoving this sycophantic rhetoric down our throats.

Sheshelob · 08/04/2013 19:12

YANBU

We did a dance. My toddler joined in. Stay classy, family Sheshelob.

Death doesn't wipe the slate clean. Stop trying to silence the unsavoury realities with some fictious moral high-ground. When Blair's turn comes, EVERYONE is going to have a field day.

countrykitten · 08/04/2013 19:18

Just been on a teaching forum where a poster has said that they will leave the tasteless slating of Thatcher to MN...and here it is.

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2013 19:20

It's really bad timing country, as MN is getting a bad press today anyway. I hope some of these comment don't end up in the newspapers.

countrykitten · 08/04/2013 19:25

Yes it's not good and I imagine that there will be scouts out on the site tonight looking for the perfect nugget for an article.

PenelopePortrait · 08/04/2013 19:43

They don't have to look very far. BBC North West has not been able to find a single person in the street who had a good word to say about her.

Not a wild guess to say BBC Wales, North East are having same problem.

She destroyed lives up here.

Sheshelob · 08/04/2013 19:46

*Fictitious.

MsBella · 08/04/2013 19:59

Its more than just 'not liking her' and 'not agreeing with her' she caused a lot of harm to a lot of people, she fucked peoples lives up.

But saying that I also don't think 2 wrongs make a right so yeah its sad for her family...

EnidRollins · 08/04/2013 20:29

Why would you shed a tear over someone you've never met before? Confused
Is that something you do often, then?

Dominodonkey · 08/04/2013 20:40

"When Blair's turn comes, EVERYONE is going to have a field day."

That is just not true - despite his warmongering ways.

The right have never been as bitter and vitriolic as the left - I have never heard anyone saying they will dance on Blair's grave or celebrate his death.

As a few posters above say you don't have to shed a tear or say anything nice about the woman but it is completely unnecessary to celebrate someone's death.

Those commenting on her causing deaths in the Falklands - are you really that ignorant that you didn't see the referendum result a few weeks ago? She was protecting British citizens.

RatPants · 08/04/2013 20:45

I'm from South Wales, my grandfather was a miner and my father was forces. I won't be seeing many tears on faces either I'm sure.

DisorganisednotDysfunctional · 08/04/2013 21:01

And what sort of tomb will she have? I like the idea of a nice marble dance floor.

AnyFucker · 08/04/2013 21:18

This thread is useful for one reason, I suppose

To flag up all the twats competing to out-disrespect an old woman who hadn't been active in politics for many years. I expect she didn't even know her own name on the day she died. I wonder if you would have said these things in her face as she dribbled and needed her arse wiping ?

Look at yourselves, it's quite foul. You would think one woman was responsible for all the evils we currently face today...get a grip, why don't you

She was put in power 3 times by the electorate. Whether you agreed with what she did back then or not...the majority of voters did, for many years. Blame them, dance on their graves, except many of them are still alive and voting for dicks like Cameron.

She was a politician, and a damned successful one in her day, not a fucking axe murderer

The time to celebrate was when she made that last exit from 10 Downing Street.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 08/04/2013 21:20

I loathed the woman and her policies, I'm entitled to that view, and I'm not going to pretend that I'm sad when I'm not, any more than I'm going to say I'm celebrating. I did my celebrating when she stepped out of No 10.

It's quite foul is it? Awfully vile. Terribly tasteless.

That it may be.

But that pales into insignificance compared to the foul, terrible, vile lives people were left to lead after tearing the heart and souls out of communities, destroyed families, left towns to rot and leaving that society she denied existed to falter and die.

Whilst the rich got richer, the banks got more powerful and were given tax cuts whilst others were out looking for fallen trees to burn to keep their families warm

So don't fucking tell me I shouldn't crack open the champagne.

AnyFucker · 08/04/2013 21:35

I don't give a fuck either, that is precisely my point

She had to die some day, today was as good a day as any other

So for people to be all over this site saying how much they don't give a fuck, seems disingenous to me

Theicingontop · 08/04/2013 21:36

I do wonder how many people genuinely hated her enough to be able to revel in her death, and how many are simply jumping on the bandwagon because they get to say something norty.

WorraLiberty · 08/04/2013 21:38

Totally agree AF

It's just crass that some people appear to be positively gloating about a death.

I had no time for her politics but FFS this is like a cyber version of dancing on her grave.

ParadiseChick · 08/04/2013 21:40

Then you quite clearly have no understanding how her decisions are still reverberating through some places, no idea what it was like for people, no idea atall.

You could accuse people of having a chip on their shoulder, that they should get over it, get a grip, she was after all an unwell elderly lady. But some things aren't easily forgotten, and never forgiven. Age, senility, health nor time diminish responsibility.

EmpressMaud · 08/04/2013 21:41

Also agreeing with AF.

I was no particular fan of hers, either.

ReturnOfEmeraldGreen · 08/04/2013 21:41

Thanks for fucking up the country. Goodbye.

ParadiseChick · 08/04/2013 21:42

That's exactly correct worra, and why the hell not?

I hated her yesterday, would have talked about how much if the subject arose. Same today. Only difference is she's dead today.

ParadiseChick · 08/04/2013 21:43

Being no fan of hers, disagreeing with her policies does not equal seeing your community, your family and friends on their knees, begging for mercy, because of her.
