She was an old lady down to the passing of time, that is all, it does not change a thing.

Grow up?! I did. Under Thatcher.

Me too, in Yorkshire when the mines were shut. My dad (not a miner) was unemployed and depressed for years. My family suffered. Not asking for violins but that piece of scum and her family showed no remorse for the lives and communities she destroyed so I won't be called for raising a glass to celebrate the fact I don't have to share a planet with it any more.

Does Surrey have millions of people who feel their voice wasn't heard for years?

Dunno about millions, but where I live in Surrey there's only realistically a choice of Tory or Lib Dem getting in. It's like being offered a choice between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

There doesn't seem much point in voting, though I do, as I feel it's my duty. Wish they had an option "None of the above".

What gets me is the overall figures. We're ruled by the Tories though 63.9% of the electorate voted against them. I feel the system's wrong, though not sure how it could be improved.

Baroozer what I've said about Jimmy Saville was fact, he was proved to be guilty of certain crimes. Margaret Thatcher has not been proved to know of her friends crimes yet a poster was insinuating she had knowledge.

Jimmy Saville hasn't been proved guilty of anything. He was never charged in life and therefore cannot be tried or sentenced posthumously. You can't try dead people. People can say what they like about him, but legally speaking Jimmy Saville is not guilty of anything.

Funny how people think it's fine to say anything about the dead when it's Jimmy Saville but when it's Margaret Thatcher it's tasteless and unfair, and she's a poor old lady. Well, by the same token, he was a poor old man. Mentioning her children is particularly odd, as she was a famously terrible mother. Some posters don't seem to know much about her.

Whatever Jimmy Saville did in his lifetime, his alleged victims run into 100s. Hers run into hundreds of thousands, with whole communities destroyed.
