Seems to be newly posted.

I think sometimes it's forgotten that famous people are actually real people with genuine feelings.

Don't agree with her about mumsnet just being negative and judgemental all the time though, really excellent support available on here.

Any degree or a librarian degree?

Darkesteyes · 12/04/2013 21:53

Yes there was a time she was on Alan Carr and they both wore wigs and mercilessly took the piss.
Shes either got selective memory or thinks the rules are different for celebrities.

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:01

Any point of me looking into it or are jobs disappearing with the cuts?

Xenia · 12/04/2013 22:17

I suspect librarian may not be a current growth market to enter.

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:18

Yes but I'd love it.

SanityClause · 12/04/2013 22:27

I went back to work, with my babies, within a few days of giving birth each time. They then had nannies from 4 months onwards. I BF all of them until they were at least a year old (I expressed milk for during the day.)

I really do agree with Xenia that new mothers do tend to cosset themselves. What's that all about? I mean, I know some women are ill or recovering from surgery. But most of us are just fine.

I learnt a lot about childcare from our nannies. They are, after all, professionals. I could watch techniques they used, and if they worked, I could use them myself.

DH and I have been able to be very flexible WRT childcare. He has been able to be far more hands on than most fathers get a chance to be.

I would not have been happy to be a SAHM, even though I found the first years very tiring. If we want true equality, we need to stop namby pambying ourselves, and get back to work, as working class women have always done, anyway.

I don't own an island, though. Not sure where I went wrong with that. Confused

Stepissue · 12/04/2013 22:28

I partially agree with Xenia too. I think everyone should do what is best for their family without judgement, but I would advise my dd's to not give up their financial independence once they have children. Perhaps I have seem too many friends who have been SAHM have their husbands leave them for work colleagues and be fucked over financially.

On a personal level I feel a better mother for keeping my career. I'm hoping it shows my dc the importance of work and the many options open to them. Also has helped me keep my sanity. This is not to say that I see anything wrong in being a SAHM, I don't. It's also none of my business what others chose to do.

Also agree that all this 'how could she go back after 3 weeks' is deeply sexist, no one raises an eyebrow over the countless men who do this.

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:39

Not getting this either or stance. It is in most cases a temporary situation and pmsl at learning from the nanny how to mother.

What a fucked up world we live in when some deem mothers not up to the job of well being a mother.I can't believe people actually think they need o be shown how to care for their own children-it aint rocket science.Hmm

Bessie123 · 12/04/2013 22:52

Well I completely stalled my career and was treated like shit for 4 years because I went back to work part time instead of going back full time 3 weeks after birth. It was worth all the crap to be able to spend 4 days a week with my children, I would be devastated to have missed the time. I am not working at all just now but to have any career at all I will have to go back full time soon. The good news is that I should be bringing home over £100k pa so at least I will be a good mother Grin

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2013 22:54

There's plenty of loving parents Square who aren't that confident about their parenting.

Do you ever look outside of your nuclear family set up?

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:54
Grin
YouTheCat · 12/04/2013 22:55

She's on Graham Norton now.

Not impressed. I'm not that bothered by her parenting choices tbh though.

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:57

Hmmm you see I think it's a modern thing and driven by the media who have books, lifestyles to sell.

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 22:59

Yes she's very confident isn't she.Hmm

Ah she's got a book to sellWink

Bessie123 · 12/04/2013 23:00

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 23:00

Squarepebbles · 12/04/2013 23:01

Chipstick10 · 12/04/2013 23:09

Bessie123 · 12/04/2013 23:13

Don't know but she is talking too much when the other 2 are more interesting

YouTheCat · 12/04/2013 23:13
