www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2305111/Why-I-hate-negative-judgmental-Mumsnet--Amanda-Holden-Britains-Got-Talent-star-accuses-site-fuelling-mothers-guilt.html

Seems to be newly posted.

I think sometimes it's forgotten that famous people are actually real people with genuine feelings.

Don't agree with her about mumsnet just being negative and judgemental all the time though, really excellent support available on here.

Oh, I'm a slow poster! Well, if she's that bothered what MN thinks of her parenting, she should ignore MN in the same way I ignore the DM (and often MN :P)

Unless social services are bashing down her door with a Mumsnet Petition of Judgeypantsness why the fuck would she care what anyone here thinks? Most of you are barking bloody mad anyway Grin

hedgefund · 06/04/2013 22:51

mn is a fantastic site
end of really
Grin

YouTheCat · 06/04/2013 22:52

?What we need is a site that gives positive support instead of encouraging guilt by making women who aren?t able to breastfeed feel bad, or condemning women for going back to work.?

She needs Nethuns then. Grin

CrapBag · 06/04/2013 22:55

Lets face it, people everywhere and all on different forums probably had similar opinions to the ones she is talking about, its just that she found them on this particular website.

I wonder if she was reading AIBU? Its not the best advert for the site in general in terms of how helpful people are and the very useful advice you can get. I like AIBU but there are times when it does seem harsh. There are however many many fantastic boards about anything you can think of. I think she is judging a whole site by possible one or two boards that she read.

coffeeinbed · 06/04/2013 22:58

I'm so happy she found sanctuary in the Mail, they never judge a thing.

YouTheCat · 06/04/2013 22:59

She has always struck me as someone with little sense of humour, who thinks way too much of herself, who just wants 'yesmen' and hair smoothers around her.

Ullena · 06/04/2013 22:59

I still don't know who she is!

coffeeinbed · 06/04/2013 23:00

She was the daughter in a tv show.

Ullena · 06/04/2013 23:01

Ah never mind, DH seems to reckon she is an actress or something. That will do me as an explanation.

ChasingDogs · 06/04/2013 23:02

FFS I'm the slowest poster in all the internet world! Sad

Thanks Worra it's a bit clearer now. FWIW I don't pretend not to click DM links, I just decided a while back it was better if I didn't. Otherwise I want to go through them with a red pen and correct faulty arguments. I'm sad and biased journalism does actually annoy me for at least 10 minutes. Even if I've had wine.

I know, pathetic.

To be fair I still think that Mrs/Miss/Ms Holden needs to move on. Not liking a particular internet forum isn't newsworthy. I hope the poor lass doesn't look up any youtube vids of herself and read the comments. Now there is a breeding ground for irrational hatred and criticism Shock

Ullena · 06/04/2013 23:02

X posted with coffee, sorry, thanks

gallifrey · 06/04/2013 23:03

I'm a bit Shock that she is the same age as me!

practicality · 06/04/2013 23:03

I feel sorry for her. There is an unfortunate element here who go out their way to post nasty things with little thought to the impact their opinions may have. It is all about their need to stir, goad and be extreme. Often these views are ill thought out and these posters are unable to substantiate their views, when challenged, with any real evidence.

Why would anyone criticise a person returning to work at a time of their choosing?

I wouldn't consider it my business. It is just unsupportive to other women and anti-feminist.

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 06/04/2013 23:03

Mumsnet co-founder Justine Roberts said: ?Of course people can be critical, but for every opinion there is usually a counter one.?"

... and this is why Justine runs MN and not me! My response would have been far more pithy Grin

How fecking ridiculous to say you went back to work after 3 weeks to normalise life for your 3 year old. Most 3 year olds have a pretty good grasp on the fact that newborn babies need their mummy to look after them for a while. If she said that, she deserves to be slated.

MsVestibule · 06/04/2013 23:05

coffeeinbed Yes, the irony... the DM are so well known for their support and lack of judginess of women.

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/04/2013 23:05

I have just read the thread which has got AH's knickers in a twist. I found it to be a good thread, nicely balanced, good arguments on both sides. A perfect discussion really.
It was also full of compliments for AH.

So if she chose to judge MN on that thread then I can only assume she is quite insecure and therefore attaches more weight to the negative opinions then she does the positive ones.

Shame.

YouTheCat · 06/04/2013 23:08

Like I said, she wants 'hair smoothers'.

MintyyAeroEgg · 06/04/2013 23:08

Love you Chipping Smile

ivykaty44 · 06/04/2013 23:09

so why is there at last a dm boycott on mn?

sorry don't do dm links anyway so no idea about the newspaper stuff as can't read it

MyDarlingClementine · 06/04/2013 23:10

I skim read link on chat thread about original thread and its quite balanced, a good number defended her.

Article was written like all mummies here at MN had a right go at her for going back to work..

pointless crap.

amiwhatorhow · 06/04/2013 23:11

Amanda Holden's family arrangements have fuck all to do with anyone else, regardless of whether she's famous.

But, yes, she was really unpleasant about Susan Boyle on Alan Carr and made herself look like an old style school bully/mean girl.

CoteDAzur · 06/04/2013 23:12

I feel sorry for AH, too, but for another reason.

From that article:

"After giving birth Amanda's heart stopped beating for four minutes"

... which means that we should be forgiving about the irrational things she might say and do.

rootypig · 06/04/2013 23:12

Amanda Holden is a truly dreadful

wonder if someone will be along to counter that soon Grin

LovesBeingWokenEveryNight · 06/04/2013 23:13

I think this is a perfect example of a totally biased article. Where is the outpouring of sympathy for her when she lost her baby? The comments and prayers that went to her we're huge. The thread this refers to was not all bitchy it was more about feeling for her and wanting her to take time for her and her baby

rootypig · 06/04/2013 23:14

(and yes, YABU, she is just after publicity innit)
